    Stay away

Where do I start. Well let's start with the 1 good thing. 2 years ago we suffered through a high pressure timeshare sales pitch that took hours because we wanted to be nice and knew these people were only doing their job. We were driven to breakfast and after breakfast were taken around the grounds to visit villas and then sat down with a salesperson, telling them we were not interested in the offerings due to financial constraints and we were told some things that turned out to be outright lies after I contacted Interval International and questioned some of the things we were offered, if we allowed their company to "take our resort off our hands". The person became very nasty towards the end and it became very uncomfortable. Once we finished it was a long walk back to our room and the person who drove us there and told us he'd be available for a ride back to our room was nowhere to be found. This time we refused to go to any presentations after getting phone calls knocks on our room door at 8am and being approached on our way to breakfast. That's the one good thing about our stay "no sales pitch presentation". On our third day, morning black out, no TV for the rest of the day, which was really no problem, but calling for maintenance to come and being put on hold after being transferred with no one picking up after 3 calls is a problem. Next day, went out to dinner, came back to room, and found water pouring out of ceiling duct with the floor flooded. Took 2 calls to get someone on line, they said someone would be right over. Took 45 minutes for someone to come and go into duct and stop water. We're then told we would be moved to another room in "an hour". 1 bellhop came over an hour later and carried two of our bags with my wife and I carrying the rest of our toiletries, shoes, fridge contents, we are in decent shape, but we're 72/71 years old. After this major inconvenience, there was no offer of any type of upgrade, food discount, nothing. We were taken to our new room walking past towels and wet floors in the next building from the original room location. When we arrived at the new room, over the door of the adjoining room there was ceiling sheet rock which was torn down, bubbling on the wall (mold?). We were too tired and upset and just wanted to go to bed since it was now 10pm and didn't want to be moved again. The next day when we were getting ready for dinner, I went to take a shower, no warm/hot water at 5pm. Went to reception desk and told them, their response was "everybody's water on the entire resort is out and we can't say when it's coming back on. There was no concern, they seemed not wanting to be bothered. That's after waiting for 10 minutes at the desk waiting for 3 workers not doing anything to acknowledge my presence! No shower before dinner. Belini Italian Restaurant. Chicken Parmesan was black and charred with a side of overcooked spaghetti without any sauce. Put fork in spaghetti, it was all stuck in one ball. Inedible, sent it back, next dish wasn't good but not burnt to a crisp, still no sauce on spaghetti, just a bit of sauce on the chicken. Terrible. Buffet lunch and dinner, sketchy fish, beef stroganoff was swimming in this mysterious looking watery sauce. El Pilon Dominican restaurant fried chicken was one chicken thigh with horrible with dry cooked plantains and overcooked vegetables. We paid over $900 U.S. for the meal plan. Please do yourself a favor, stay away, horrible service from reception/front desk/maintenance/telephone answering, food a D minus. Pools are in need of structural work, painting and the water is frigid. Grounds are not well kept. Found beach to be littered. I am not one to put up bad reviews, but this one is necessary!

You go Brazilian steak house and they serve u chicken wings and hot dogs. Steak was brought out once. When you call front desk they not even helpful. Will never go back. They want to sell you time share dont do it.

Worst Hotel Experience I’ve Ever Had — Completely Unacceptable

Worst Resort EVER (and I have been to a 3 stars Hotel in Cuba…) Our stay at Cofresi Hotel was an absolute failure from start to finish, marked by broken promises, unsafe conditions, and shockingly poor service. We reserved a room with two beds, yet were initially given a one bed room. We then had to wait 24 hours before being moved again — this time to a ground floor room facing the street, which was unbearably noisy around the clock, with diesel golf carts constantly passing. Sleep was impossible. Despite asking five separate times, WE WERE LEFT WITH NO DRINKABLE WATER IN THE ROOM FOR ALMOST 48 HOURS. On top of that, there was NO HOT WATER FOR SHOWERS — a basic expectation at any hotel, let alone a resort. Basic housekeeping was nonexistent. We received no room service for 48 hours, the room was dirty upon arrival (lash extensions and hair on the floor), and it was never properly cleaned afterward. Things escalated further when my cousin became ill. Guest services promised to deliver medication and never did, and still failed to provide water. That level of disregard is deeply concerning. When I tried to bring food from the buffet because my cousin could not get out of bed, staff refused and told me I had to return to the lobby to ask permission to bring her food. At no point did the Cofresi staff take ownership, show empathy, or provide a concrete solution. We were sent in circles — the lobby referred us to guest services, guest services referred us back to the lobby, which then referred us to the Sunwing representative. The final straw: the mini fridge was broken, leaked water all over the floor, soaked our suitcases, and caused all the food inside to be lost. Not once did staff offer meaningful help or a solution. This was not just inconvenient — it was negligent. The lack of accountability, lack of service, and lack of care turned what should have been a vacation into a constant source of stress and frustration. Oh.. and if you're in a standard room near the lobby and want to go to the beach.... Get ready for a serious walk! Staff at the Bar (Cheers) during the day is rude, but at night they are Great. (Edison will take care of you like you are family) Cofresi Hotel seriously needs to reevaluate its standards for maintenance, and guest service practices. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

    Disgraceful rooms

I have never seen this many deficiencies in a hotel room in my life, and I have stayed at many "budget friendly" places. And half of my career was in the Hotel industry, mostly as a Rooms Division Manager, in corporate hotel, Cdn Rockies Mountain resort towns and one winter season at an all inclusive resort in TCI. Room deficiencies: * no hot water for 3 days * black sediment coming out of the bathroom sink tap * oxidization very apparent on bathroom taps and shower head * Shower head bracket mounted too high and the angle was such that when the hand held unit was in the bracket, water shot straight across the tub above my head. * Vinyl coating on tub, pealing, and mildew on the bathtub caulking. * Found 2 cockroaches in the room and heard from several other guests that their rooms had bed bugs!! * Window did not close fully, thus there was a puddle on the floor after every rain. * Only one luggage rack, which is not designed for hard shell suitcases. * Room keys repeatedly deprogrammed, so my roomate and I had to keep climbing the 4 flights of stairs (most with no railings) to go to the lobby to get them reprogrammed. * this is the only resort in Dominican Republic at which I have not been able to flush toilet paper. * It took 3 days for us to wrench the closing mechanism for the patio door to the point that we could open it, only to find that one of the chairs on the patio as broken, in fact looked like one leg had been chewed off by some kind of animal. Also, we had requested 2 queens, but were assigned a room with one king bed. The front desk agent assured us that the King bed would be removed and 2 double beds would be put in, but they simply added a single bed. As noted before, there were multiple flights of stairs as this resort is built on a mountainside. Many flights had no railings. This is a huge problem for anyone with mobility issues, and the shuttle buses were inconsistent. We were told by the Sunwing rep during orientation that we had to book each of the three a la carte restaurants we were allowed on a day by day basis, in other words, we could only book one on the same day we wanted to dine. However, when we went to do that, were were told that everything was booked for the next 4 nights, which meant that we could only book one of the 3 opportunities. Having said all this, the service staff were excellent, the food in the restaurants we could get in to was quite decent. I will not recommend this resort to anyone, and will be posting this on many travel review sights, Google and my social media accounts.
