  Not Terrible but Not That Great

  LOCATION: The Good - Perfect for Shopping - Multiplaza Mall is just a crosswalk away, you will never lack choices of places to eat but it can add up and get expensive over time. An UBER to most locations like POIN, Michael's, Albrook Mall, Panama Sign was between 4 - 9 USD depending on the time of day. There is always lots of traffic leading to the mall and not so many activities outside of the mall in walking distance. The not so good - During the day you dont notice it with the ambient noise but at night after the mall closes you can hear every loud bike or car on the road , we were facing the main road overlooking the entrance and if a bike crew passed at 3am we heard it. ATMOSPHERE: Hotel is clean and has an ok vibe but nothing exceptional, The pool area seemed like a ' lets add a pool so we have one' idea with minimal plants or landscaping , views blocked off, 4 deck chairs and the tight enclosed area doesn't encourage you to spend much time there. OUR ROOM: We were on the 3rd floor facing the street, easy walk from the lift. Our window curtains wouldn't close all the way because the runners were broken so we had to pin them closed at night with hair clips so the bright morning sun didn't wake us up too early. We found there to be a lack of plugs close to the bed , room could do with charging ports within arms reach. We had to charge our devices next to the socket by the tv, and that was only 2 plugs. Hot water was good , AC worked well. Even though the carpet was clean it didn't feel 'clean' you can feel the age in it under bare feet. Beds were comfy, No weird smells. In the bathroom at night I always felt like I was hearing a pulsing 'ambient' music no matter what time of day it was then when I went to the lobby I heard it more clearly so I'm thinking that lobby music travelling through the vents or something but its not noticeable unless you focus on it . SERVICE: The Good - The Restaurant staff was a stark contrast to the front desk. EVERYONE greeted us with a smile EVERY day. The buffet was nice and assorted with something a bit unique every morning, our cups were refilled regularly and our table cleared promptly . Tomas from the wait staff stands out as he was particularly attentive. However the entire Breakfast team needs to be commended for performing well under pressure during busy mornings. Housekeeping was great, They almost wanted to clean before we even had a chance to 'mess up' the room from the last clean. They were all friendly and greeted us when we passed. The Not So Good - On Arrival, I was just met with a "What is your name" , No eye contact or "Welcome To The Courtyard Marriot" or "How was your Flight" the next sentence was "Can I have your credit card ?" . Then she gave us some directions to the room and the key card. No one to help with the bags. There were 3 of us in the room but we only got 2 bath towels so at 7pm I called the front desk and they said they will send one up, 2 hrs later nothing so I messaged in the app and the acknowledgment took about 90mins with a 'I will let our HKS know". 1030 pm still no towels, we were tired so one of us had to shower using one of the 'small' towels. The next morning I happened to see a housekeeper in the hallway and asked for an extra towel. Front desk never followed up on that request. At no point during our stay did front desk greet us or make eye contact when we passed through the lobby (4-6 times per day) they always suddenly had something to look at outside of our direction. At check-out again no greeting , no smile, no 'Good Morning, how was your stay?' he just extended his hand for the room card, 'clickity click' on the key board and he said "all good" No "Thank You For staying with us". Overall the location was great, Breakfast was great. Reception & Front Desk needs work. We have had better reception service on lower tier cruise ships with thousands of other guests with even the housekeeping staff greeting us by name from the first day of our stay. If we felt more welcomed and engaged then almost maybe we might have considered a second stay. If you aren't coming for the mall and shopping convenience you can pass on Marriot Multiplaza

  Staffs need more training

  Made two reservations for one night as a stopover in Panama to visit family. I am a Bonvoy Platinum member. Request 4 PM checkout and was told that availability was not available by Manuel. Came back later having to retrieve my phone to share that one benefit of Platinum member was guaranteed availability and is not based on availability. The site manager concurred and cleared the one room for 4 PM checkout and the over for 2 PM. Got back before 2 PM and both rooms were locked out requiring having trip to front desk to rekey access. Not sure what is wrong with the team here but they are not trained correctly on status benefits and will need to be retrained. That Manuel was rude BTW and probably should not be working front desk.

  Weeks of Total Neglect

For weeks, I have been trying to reach you via email and social media, but I have been completely ignored. It seems no one is working or willing to check emails and do their job. I need to know if the hotel can receive packages (e.g., Amazon orders) before his arrival and store them safely until check-in. Please confirm: Do you accept packages for future guests? Any fees per package/day? How long can you hold them? Limits on number, weight, or size? How to fill shipping labels (guest name, arrival date, reservation #, room type)? Restrictions (electronics, high-value items, international deliveries, customs)? Exact address and recommended format for smooth handling. Please respond promptly with your policy details.   I would rate it lower, but the location saves it somewhat (And they know it)

  Location: Excellent The hotel's biggest strength is its prime location right next to Multiplaza Pacific Mall—one of the best shopping centers in Panama City. If that's your main reason for staying here, it's convenient. Everything else, however, falls short of what you'd expect from a Marriott property. Noise leveles are minimal, you can sleep perfectly well. Facilities and Rooms: Average to Dated The facilities are okay—clean enough and functional. However, the rooms feel old and tired. Carpets, furniture, and overall decor show their age. For the price charged, the value is mostly tied to the location rather than the quality of the accommodations. Service: Consistently Poor This is where the experience truly disappoints. Despite being a Marriott, the service level does not meet the brand's usual standards. In my experience (and after 6+ visits to Panama), customer service across the country—including hotels—often feels lacking. Staff frequently display indifference, reluctance, or even mild hostility. Requests require multiple follow-ups, and basic courtesy is hit-or-miss depending on the employee's mood that day. Specific examples from my stay: - Room service refused to deliver a simple bottle of water to the room (even when offered to charge it). No alternatives were suggested—just a flat "we don't do that." - Housekeeping ignored the "make up room" schedule indicated on the door hanger. - In the restaurant, orders required repeated requests and chasing down staff to get anything done. Employees still expect tips despite delivering minimal effort. There appears to be little emphasis on guest satisfaction or going the extra mile—quite the opposite of the proactive service I've experienced at Marriott properties elsewhere in the world (and even at other hotels in Panama like the Sheraton or Hilton). General Observation on Service in Panama While this review focuses on the Courtyard, my repeated visits to Panama have shown a similar pattern across many establishments: a cultural tendency toward minimal effort, entitlement, and little concern for whether visitors leave with a positive impression. When service is provided by non-Panamanian staff, the difference is immediately noticeable and far more welcoming. Recommendation If location next to Multiplaza is essential and you're okay with average facilities and unreliable service, this hotel is acceptable. Otherwise, consider alternatives like the Sheraton Grand Panama or Hilton Panama—both offer better-trained staff and a more consistent service experience, even if it means taking short Ubers to the mall. This is not a luxury Marriott property, but the brand usually guarantees reliable service. Unfortunately, this location does not uphold that promise. I will continue visiting Panama for personal reasons, but I won't stay here again.

  Not a star Marriott

  We stayed 4 nights in this hotel as we joining a bus tour group for a Panama thing. Our room was a typical Courtyard that has seen better days. It is located next to a huge mall…but that also made walking around rather dangerous, especially after dark. Never tried the restaurant, but the breakfast buffet was decent so that’s a plus. Not being able to find restaurants with in walking distance was frustrating to say the least. They have a small workout room which we used a couple of times. So, nothing special or nothing terrible about this Marriott, although the front desk crew’s attitude could be improved.
