Best on Cozumel
We have stayed at the Cozumel palace many times and it continues to be our favorite family vacation spot. My family loves diving with aqua safari (Walter) that’s on site at the resort. We love all of the staff there as well. Charlie, David, Jairo, Pearla just to name a few. They always go above and beyond to be friendly, helpful and accommodating. On our recent trip we all ended up with the flu. The front desk called daily to check on us. It was nice to have 24hour room service and an even bigger win was the chicken and rice soup on the menu. I felt like I hit the lottery when I found that. The palace is the nicest place to stay on the island. The food is amazing and even better, it is walkable to town. The other resorts we have stayed at are at least a 30 min cab ride to town. If you’re looking for luxury accommodations, amazing staff, and a new and updated resort look no further. We love this place

4 stars hotel / 3 stars food
5 night stay at Cozumel Palace AI. It’s more boutique hotel. It’s on the beach but basically above the beach. No sandy beach to enter water. You may feel cooped up since eating all meals here. It is not a grand resort. More nice hotel. Property recently updated and is very nice. Good lobby vibe with bar. Some nights live music. Every night shows. Pool is decent size not huge with organized volleyball games. Snorkeling on property fun and kayak and paddle board included. Get up early for beach chairs. Hard to decide on how many stars. Staff very nice. But the turn off for us is food. I know AI food not the best and we live in major city with great food options. So we are spoiled. Hotel experience 4 stars . Food 3. We stayed at ziva in Dominican Republic and food excellent. End of day I want great food if I am paying upfront for all my meals. House wine absolutely not drinkable ( tried a white and a red) and didn’t feeling like paying extra for wine that was very overpriced. Bar selection for mixed drinks good. Spa very nice but perhaps a bit expensive 225$ massage $63 basic pedicure ( not including gratuity). Mostly families. Great location to town center. If you are interested in ferry easy access. Walmart type store across street great for misc stuff. Time share people hang around at beginning but firm no and you are good. Easy to get taxi to airport. Depends on what is most important.

Incredible Staff! A Couple of HUGE renovation mistakes.
Overall we had a fantastic time at Cozumel Palace, and it was so good to visit again, and see the staff there, who we adore! It says a lot about this resort that the staff STAY!!!!! They are amazing and below I will give some shout-outs to the many wonderful Palace staff who helped make our vacation the amazing one that it was!!! Before I do that, I do want to address a couple of issues we encountered that have nothing to do with the staff and everything to do with the new renovation. The Renos look lovely. The hotel was looking tired, and now it looks fresh and updated:). BUT.. and for us this was a MAJOR BUT, that is the only reason we didn't have a perfect vacation.... They put a new roof with fan over top of the outdoor grill called Flamingos. This fan is very LOUD and VERY SMELLY. We were warned about it before we went, so I requested a room slightly further away from Flamingos than we usually get, but even that room was still badly affected. We could not sit out on our balcony after 9:30am when they turned the fan on and started grilling food. The fan stays on until about 11:00pm every night, but even after it's turned off, the VERY STRONG grease smell still permeates pretty much every room on that side of the resort. We could not even keep our balcony door open to hear the ocean (which for me is a large part of why I love this resort). Even just opening the balcony door a crack to CHECK if it was smelly (it always was) and closing it right behind us was enough to have the whole room wreak of greasy smoke and butane. I sincerely hope that palace is getting enough feedback about this that they are able to do something about it. It seems such a shame to have put so much money into this beautiful renovation but to have created such a huge problem with so many of the rooms (I would say rooms from floor 3-5 and from the elevators all the way over to room 04 are affected.. that's more than 20 rooms on each floor). One other UNimprovement is the pool tiles. The pool deck looks amazing but is a very slippery marble type stone. given that a pool deck is always wet, we saw people slipping, sometimes hurting themselves quite badly, every single day. It was a pretty silly choice, and it's done now, but maybe there is a way to add some sort of thick grip-like, non-slip surface on top, or as trim for each stone already laid (like they have on the ramps). Our only other complaint (we have MANY more good things to say) is that they got rid of the Indian restaurant AGRA at Cozumel Palace. This was an AMAZING restaurant, and of the 10 of us who go to Cozumel Palace we were ALL extremely sad to see it gone. It was amazing and I hope they bring it back. OK.. on to all the GREAT.... I need to start with the staff because they truly make this resort better!!!! David was our DC and he was phenomenal. Last time we were there, he was our Diamond Pool Concierge and he was amazing then. We are so happy for his promotion, and he is KILLING it. He went above and beyond to make our stay great, to help us with any problems, and to check in and make sure we were enjoying ourselves. He has this very kind and gentle demeanour that just makes you feel calm and at ease. And he put together a perfect itinerary for us! Emmanuel was our Diamond pool concierge and he was fantastic! From making sure we always had a fresh drink if we wanted one, to making sure our water bucket always had fresh ice... probably the best pool concierge we have ever had at any Palace resort!!! Joel is Cozumel Palace's long time Sommelier, and he feels like family to us. I am always excited to come home to Cozumel Palace and see him. His knowledge of wine is vast and we always learn something new. Currently his wine tasting night (which is AMAZING) is being held inside rather than on the beach, which is very unfortunate because the setting on the beach at sunset is so beautiful. We were told it was because of the weather that time of year, but we always come in December and it has always been outside on the beach before. I hope they are able to put it back on the beach when the renovations are finished. Ivan, the Bougambilias manager and Oswaldo (server) and Carmen (the woman who makes el pastor tacos at your table) are all AMAZING. Ivan was always checking in on us, Oswaldo was super attentive and funny, and Carmen makes the best el pastor tacos I have ever had!!!!! This is our favourite restaurant (used to be closely followed by Agra) Mildred was our tour and spa planner, and was quick to make any changes we needed to make to the perfect itinerary David made for us. Laura was our favourite server at gondola, and we loved chatting with her and getting to know about her, and also hearing her suggestions for when we were traveling around the island to a beach one day. Alan is a server at the pool and has been there for a long time, and is so nice, and so funny. We were happy to see him again! Enrique the swim up pool bartender went out of his way to make me a Pina colada without dairy, being very careful to read ingredients to ensure it was safe for me. Jaro was our other pool server and he was AWESOME. I could go on and on... the staff is simply amazing! We were sad, as always, to leave, and we already can't wait to go back. I love that when it comes to Cozumel Palace I am excited not only to get back to the beautiful resort, and the sunshine, but to get back to these wonderful people on staff and give them hugs:)

Cozumel Palace first stay
Overall the stay was great. Hotel was in great condition. Believe remodeling was still going on. Restaurants were about average. Loved the pool area. Gimer Chan was excellent as he got everything set up for our stay right after check in. Let us know about our resort credits and presentation. Giovanni at the pool bar had excellent service. Reyes at the pool bar had excellent service. Argenis at flamingo was great and we enjoyed ourselves there. Rodrigo at the pool bar became our favorite bartender. We really enjoyed his drinks. His service was phenomenal. Martha was our hostess at momo and she made our time there very enjoyable. My wife really loved her attitude and service. She went out of her for my wife and we are thankful. She allowed us to still keep our reservation even though my wife was a little undressed due to the airport losing her luggage for the first four days of our stay. Jesus at momo had excellent service. Enrique the salesman at playacar did a very good job. We did renew our membership. Karina at Mexican restaurant was excellent. Elisabeth at momo was excellent.
