2 hour check in but otherwise very good
The check in time was horrendous and took 2 hours with very few people ahead of us!! Otherwise, staff was great -especially Nataly in the lobby bar (excellent work ethic!), Victor on the beach and Julio in buffet (for breakfast). Room was great on 3rd floor with view of the ocean, our friends had the 7th floor. We mostly went to adult pool and beach as main pool music was too loud for us 60 year olds and quite full with children. Get on reserving dinner online at exactly 8am for a choice. Food good, short bus ride to main part of town cheap and quick. Many children/families. Felt safe and beach sand was cool and lovely although we had a few windy days.

"Family Friendly" is an understatement
Personal disclosure: Single mother traveling with 10 year old twins from Canadian Prairies. This was my first trip to the east coast of Mexico (went to Puerto Vallarta about 12 years ago) and my kids first trip out of Canada. Pros first: ** The location was ideal. The resort seemed far enough down the hotel zone to be fairly quiet but not too far when traveling to excursions. We had transfers but it seemed fairly close to the airport. ** The resort advertises as family friendly and it really is! The atmosphere is incredibly family oriented and fun! Children are 100% included from little steps to see over the front desk, to a neat children's drink menu to games and shows for kids and families. My kids loved the soccer match! There were also nightly live shows which ranged from entertainment for little tykes to a very impressive show with a Michael Jackson impersonator. Go early to get a good seat! We definitely planned our resort days and meals over what games/activities were happening. There was a children's area which my kids explored a bit though they were on the older end of the crowd. It had water features, slides, activity spaces, room for watching movies and impromptu soccer games were popular. I think you can drop your kids and go as there is limited seating for adults. There was a mini golf which we didn't play (ran out of time) and my daughter did try the one of the four water slides. It was fast! They seemed very popular with the older kids and teens.** The room was standard but good and we had a balcony with an ocean view which was a huge feature for us! It wasn't elaborate but everything worked and it was clean. It is a loud resort (even in our room). You could not hear the people next door or above but the lobby is loud. Nothing you can't sleep over though. ** We ate at the main buffet, hamburger hut by the pool and room service. The main buffet is large with a good selection, seating is ample and the wait staff is fantastic! We only ever consistently waited in line for breakfast and I don't think we ever waited more than 10 minutes. I have very picky eaters and they both found items on the buffet that they enjoyed. There is a kids area of the buffet with things like grilled cheese, fries, etc. Every night they had a different buffet theme... I think we were there for Philippine, Mexican, Seafood x 2 and Italian themed nights. Lot's of breads, cheese and wine for anyone (like me) with a bit of a touchy stomach. Breakfast was lots of hot dishes, pastries, toast, pancakes/waffles, omelets, eggs, fruit, breakfast meats, great coffee and mimosas. The poolside hamburger hut saved the day a few times: burgers, hotdogs, fries, some salads, nachos, etc. The food there was fast and okay. Room service offers a different menu and was quick and easy to use. Tasty! There is also a little coffee/snack bar in the lobby for those leaving the resort early - be there early as the food goes painfully fast! We did not experience any of the other restaurants at the resort but they looked nice. ** The beach is wonderful though loungers are a very hot commodity. I was prepared to fight for space to put a towel but despite resorts being full, the beach was easy to navigate or find a spot to sit and enjoy the water. The sand is white and water is turquoise. ** There were a few gift shops which had a little bit of everything - don't worry about forgetting stuff and the prices were reasonable for practical items and souvenirs. A bag of chips? Bring your credit card. There was also a salon but we didn't use it. ** Poolside: warm, thick and large towels (but they can run out until the next bundle arrives), an information booth for excursions (be sure to see Gerry - he's a good guy), a DJ, lot's of loungers and sufficient seating for snacking. There was one large bar by the pools, another on the beach, one in the lobby area and one by the adult pool. There is wait staff ready to assist and steadily cleaning. ** There are two large pools, one small one, the kids area, an indoor one and an adult one (that's where the hot tub is). All that we used were clean and well maintained. ** Other: there are loads of bathrooms which are clean and well supplied. There is also a Dr on site. Happily we did not need their services. There are also water refill stations which I much appreciated. Things to know: ** LOTS of kids! Strollers, wagons, kids, kids, kids. All over and largely unattended. ** The front end staff know basic english so be prepared to figure stuff out. ** No hand sanitizer... anywhere. ** The food seems to be a local interpretation of all your favourites. If you're looking for strict, by the book pizza and have a specific way you like maple syrup then this may not be your resort. ** I don't indulge much but the drinks are very weak. Tasty and refreshing but alcohol content is sparse (no matter how well you tip). ** The TV is in Spanish except for the one little kids channel which seemed to switch to English around 10pm. The fruit bowl in the room will not be restocked (I chuckled because I had read that on here prior to booking) even if you leave money in the empty dish - they took the money and the dish. ** Also if you enjoy a resort full of English speaking people then this may not be your kind of resort. A lot of people from Mexico and South America, Quebec and a handful of guests from the USA and English Canada. The only other English speaking child in my sons soccer game was his twin sister. The kids used translators and had a blast! Cons (for us): ** the hot tub is in the adult only area. It was chilly while we were there and I would have brought a wet suit for my son (who chills easy) had I known he wouldn't be able to access the hot tub. Sadly the hot tub was one of the main reasons we chose this resort and may be the only reason we don't return. Also the pools are not heated which I figured would be the case but relied on the hot tub to save us. No. There were loads of people wanting to swim but it simply was too cold to stay in the water. Pack accordingly. A +23 day, partially cloudy with a breeze chills to the bone! The ocean was a much warmer option but we had lot's of red flag days. ** We were also chilly in the room but if you turned the A/C off the room quickly became musty. Extra blankets were requested (and promptly delivered) which helped a tonne! There is also nearly no water pressure in the showers but the water is very soft. ** We did get a bit bored of the buffet but getting a reservation at one of the restaurants? Better chances getting a lounger on the beach. Reservations start at 8am every day. At 8:02 every restaurant was either full or had spaces after 9pm (at which point we were usually at a show). The buffet sometimes seemed to have trouble keeping up and the foods are not always accurately labeled which can be dangerous with an allergy. Also, unlike the resort I stayed at in Puerto Vallarta, you are not allowed to seat yourself and/or are not consistently seated in the same part of the dining room so you likely will get new wait staff every meal (despite me outright asking). I liked all of our wait staff but some really stood out and I wish we could have been repeat customers. They'd wave from a distance and we'd wave back. Summary: I loved this resort, it was gated, locked and had security all over (but not oppressive) - I felt very safe there with my children. It's not the newest resort around but everything is very clean, well maintained and cared for. The grounds are beautiful! All the wait staff was amazing and a special shoutout to Hector who we loved as our server! Also I sincerely want to thank Jesus! Seriously. He saved us at checkout and got us on an airport transfer after being delayed 30 minutes by 'that' group of guests ahead of us in line (we all know the type). Jesus literally saved the day! Overall, we had an incredibly fun time and may do a few things different next time. One thing for sure: IF we return to this resort we will be bringing a wet suit for my son.

No response to are emails
We're arriving to this hotel on February 12 my daughter and February 14 for us. Both me and my daughter have send emails to the hotel for assistance regarding my daughter allergies and trying to see if we could upgrade the rooms for a better family time we are living soon and both of us have not received any response to are many emails from this hotel. We been going to Mexico for the last 25 years at lease twice a year and this is the first time that we reach out to a hotel with no response at all. My expectations going to this hotel is already not very hight. We will see how the do once on site.

Not a 4 star resort for food
The biggest down fall of this hotel is the buffet. The lineups for breakfast are horrendous. The food is not greatest and al carte restaurant's are very hard to get into. Parents let their children run wild in the restaurants crashing into tables and making a meal at the al carte when you can get into it disappointing The American style breakfast on the 8th floor was disappointing, the food was cold. locations was great, rooms were great and very clean, service was great otherwise

Will not return
I don't want to be too negative, because our family made the best of our vacation and time together. Our main issues were a sewage smell coming from the kid's bathroom, lack of beach towels (took us 4 days to get a hold of some), frigged pool temps, and lines for everything at the time we went.
