Entertainment, Amazing Service & Food Galore
Let me first tell you about the staff. Can you say welcoming and extremely attentive. You would think hurricane Melissa would’ve dampened their spirits, but they rose to the occasion of giving amazing service. From the beautiful and entertaining Loretta and Nelli to the smiling and always welcoming Satia in the restaurant. The front desk staff is always there to help. From finding you a taxi to just giving you a towel at 2am in the morning. Ms. Walker the managing director wears many hats. She is seen daily working in every department and is so down to earth. The nights are an experience because of the amazing entertainment. We arrived Tuesday and there was a scheduled Reggae night. The guests were seated outside for dinner and entertainment. Let me tell you they did not disappoint. Menu consisted of jerk chicken, white rice or rice and peas, curry goat, oxtail, even had a sugar cane and jelly coconut guy. All you can eat is an understatement. Each night was filled with something special. I met the amazing “ Motion” he can walk on nails/ breath fire and get this a contortionist. I know I know this review is too long. But give me another minute so I can rave about the the use of Doctor’s Cave Beach across the street. There’s a door man that will ensure your safe crossing with the use of a stop sign. So don’t worry about the on going traffic. If you eat late there is late night dining. If you are ever in Montego Bay book Deja Resort you won’t be disappointed. Oh wait also make sure to participate in Karaoke night , I had a great time. I can’t sing but just choose a song and be yourself. Jamaica is open y’all, come to Jamaica and feel alright 🇯🇲.

My safe haven in a storm
During Hurricane Melissa, I had the privilege of staying at Deja Resort in Jamaica, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible staff who made this experience feel like being with family. Being a solo traveler is hard but going through it while facing a natural disaster is quite frankly a stressful situation. This boutique hotel truly became a safe haven in every sense of the word. A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Walker, who went above and beyond to check on me constantly throughout the storm, ensuring my comfort and peace of mind. When the storm worsened, she even checked me back into the hotel with safe accommodations, making sure I was cared for and secure. I also want to recognize Mr. Phillip Russell, the owner, along with the maintenance team—Jermaine and Niketo—and the security staff. They were literally dodging debris—zinc rooftops, stone boulders, palm trees—putting their lives on the line as they bravely stayed outside through harsh wind and rain, working tirelessly to secure the property and ensure every guest remained safe. At the front desk, Shane, Roshon, Ashley deserve special mention for their incredible patience and professionalism. They faced endless requests, complaints, and anxious guests, yet managed it all with grace, calmness, and genuine smiles throughout the ordeal. The culinary team—and waitstaff, Pete, Marvin, Jaedon, Satia, Nadine, Crystal, Dana, Travia went above and beyond. While other hotels were handing out snack packs, we enjoyed delicious, freshly prepared meals: ackee and saltfish, oxtails, seafood dishes, made-to-order plates, and tasty soups with every meal. Their comfort food brought joy and warmth in the darkest of times, and their dedication was truly heartwarming. What moved me most was realizing that these employees were going through their own despair—losing belongings, furniture, even homes—while still showing up with strength, smiles, and compassion. Many were trying to reach their own families yet continued to care for guests as if we were their own. Special thanks to MVPS Nellie and Leonard for entertaining us and treating us with an over showering of love! Thank you Please, if you ever visit Montego Bay, consider staying at Deja Resort—or donating to support this marvelous team. They represent the true spirit of Jamaican resilience and hospitality. I will never forget them. Also, you can give to their official GoFundMe.

Deja Resort
Deja Resort is very conveniently located less than 10 minutes from MBJ airport and across the street from beautiful Captains Cave beach. The rooms are a bit outdated but very spacious with all the necessary amenities one would need. I love the surrounding foliage and vibe it Carrie’s. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly which made our stay much more enjoyable. Last but not least, the food from the restaurant was so delicious.😋
