  Art of animation- Animal King Suite SEN review - what you really should know

  We are an experienced Disney visiting family with two SEN children. 8/13/42/44 We stayed at the art of animation resort in a lion king suite. Key points: - the rooms are beautifully themed - but the pull down beds and bed linen are very thin and uncomfortable and not at all suitable for SEN kids - the rooms DO allow pets so if you have severe allergies like we do, please beware - the skyliner is so smart and cool but beware you’ll queue for 20+ mins to even get on it if you’re trying to enter the parks for magic hours. - beware in August that outdoor pool facilities will be closed most afternoons due to storms / safety issues Our hotel on arrival was absolutely shocking. We had children with severe allergies and were not told the rooms were animal use rooms. In addition the room had been strongly bleached before our arrival and the smell was intense and over powering, We had to fight with the hotel to get a room move and they denied the use of bleach or any smell. It was really really strong, The hotel at night from a sound proofing point of view was absolutely terrible. I could hear people weeing above my head !! The toilet flushes were so loud they made you jump, it carried on ALL night. The hotel was really nicely themed outside and the main lobby too. Everything else though Inc the accommodation is pretty basic. We’ve stayed in much nicer Disney hotels.

  A Fun resort at Disney World Florida

  • Stayed at the Art of Animation Disney World Resort. I had a great stay in a standard room at the Little Mermaid units. Children like the room a lot. The room had very cute theme decorations . It had a sufficient amount of room. The bed was comfortable and there were many pillows. I liked the room layout. I especially liked the lighted makeup mirror. It is great for putting on eye makeup. The staff was very friendly and helped us when we lost a Magic Band and they honored our request to have a room near our other family members. The big pool was nice and warm. There is also a small pool near the Mermaid units. There are 4 sections in this resort. The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Cars and the Lion King. The Little Mermaid section is the furthest from the main building where the food court, shopping store, check- in area, and busses are located. The walk is a little long from the Little Mermaid rooms to the main building. If you have a problem walking, then I would suggest you get a room closer to the main building. I recommend this resort and stay here again.

  Great budget hotel

  This was our first time at Disney world. We booked this resort largely because of budget and also because of the skyliner. I would have loved to have upgraded to a suite but we just couldn't afford an extra £4000. We arrived early evening. We had pre booked a private transfer from the airport with Hoppa and also a water delivery. The lobby is amazing, and check in was quick and easy. We got our keys and first time badges. I had seen many negative reviews on Facebook about the walk to the Little Mermaid rooms but honestly, our kids didn't complain once! The room was small, not going to lie. However, it was lovely. We were on the ground floor, which wouldn't have been my preference but it was fine. Reviews had led me to believe that there would be space under the beds for suitcase storage but there wasn't any under bed storage. Instead, our 4 cases went in the hanging space section of the room. The hanging space was low down meaning we couldn't use the hanging shelves if brought. Instead, we piled up out clothes on top of the shelf over the hanging space. This worked well. I was able to use the small accessories hanging thing if brought by using magnetic hooks on the back of the door. This was handy to store waterproof phone cases, battery packs, ponchos etc. The bathroom area was pretty spacious, and there were a few rails to hang wet swimwear on to dry. The beds were very comfortable but the air con is aimed right at the pillows so my head was freezing each night!! Housekeeping was great, and I loved used Hey Disney to set alarms and read the kids bedtime stories. That's a nice touch. Reception staff were always friendly and the daily character visits were great too. I enjoyed the foot in the restaurant but my goodness it was chaotic! The staff in the restaurant are so unfriendly and there is no sensible system to ordering stations. One evening, I got in line for my kids' choices while my husband joined a much shorter line to get his, once he got his, he queued up elsewhere for mine, and I still wasn't at the front of the kids' line! By the time we got all of the meals and then queued up to pay for it, ours had gone cold. There must be a better way! On our first day in the parks, we didn't take all of the room keys as no one had told us that they were also our park tickets! That would have been handy to know on check in. The skyliner was amazing. The only issue is that if they close due to the weather, you are literally stranded. It takes them a lot of time to decide to run buses so there's a lot of time standing in a queue getting soaked while you wait for them to make up their mind. The pools were great, buses were great, I would happily stay here again but would want to save for a suite I think.

  Disney hotel

  First time I have been to a Disney hotel and I loved it. We stopped in the Lion King family suites, plenty of room and brilliant atmosphere. Three big pools, transport from the hotel to the theme parks, these come quite frequently. Not too keen on the restaurant/canteen. Too busy, too expensive and the food was mediocre, reminded me of a school canteen. We had breakfast once, but it's convenient if needed. We would definitely be back to stay again soon.

  Disappointing Stay Despite the Disney Magic

  As expected, this is an expensive hotel simply because it’s on Disney property. Unfortunately, it was also the most uncomfortable Disney resort we’ve stayed at. The beds were very firm, there was barely enough space for our luggage, and the bathroom was extremely small. The room layout also offered very little privacy, with the sink area located right next to the beds. Another downside is the distance from the front desk. Depending on your room location, the walk can be surprisingly long. Breakfast was chaotic due to the crowds, and ride-share services like Uber are only allowed to pick up and drop off at the front desk, which means you’ll have to walk there with your luggage every time. For the price, I would recommend requesting a room as close to the front desk as possible. Otherwise, it may be worth considering a different hotel that offers a more comfortable and convenient experience.
