This is One Beautiful Resort
The resort is beautiful and well appointed. Every resort worker goes out of his/her way to make your stay exceptional. JR at the bar, Sandra at the towel hut and Benjiman at the front desk, to name a few, really stood out. If I had one "complaint" it would be when you go out in the a.m. to "claim" your palapal (thatched huts on the beach) some "regulars" will put their belongings there as early as 4am...not cool. How are non-regulars going to enjoy the beach huts if this continues to be permitted?

Maintenance Nightmare
For the level of construction going on during our stay, the price should have been majorly adjusted and we should have been given much more than a weeks notice. There was one functional elevator during our entire stay that the entire hotel had to share between patrons and staff alike. The swim up bar was closed with no water in it for all but one day of our stay. The pool was unusable all but two days of our stay due to constant and very loud jackhammerring from roughly 8am to 6pm. It appears they purposely did not have construction going on Saturdays when most people arrived because anyone would complain about it given how loud it was. In addition, a note was left on our door one day, stating they were doing construction in our room between 10am and 5pm. Finally to top it all off (and unrelated to the previous note) , our room had an AC unit that was leaking water into our room. It soaked the floor and walls, we had to speak to the front desk and maintenance people 3 times before anything was done about it. All in all, it's unreasonable to expect guests to deal with this many issues for a full priced stay when many of the resorts facilities weren't usable. Customer service refused to do anything about adjusting the price of these rooms. To me, that is egregious and I'm not hard to please. I'd come back to Aruba, but not to any Divi resorts.

Jackhammering, room floods, and poor service
If you can cancel, do it now! We traveled 10 hours to arrive to 4 days of jackhammering from 8am to 6pm. Your balcony-jackhammering, lunch at the hotel-jackhammering, floating in the ocean-jackhammering. The swim bar was closed the first 4 days of our trip which we wouldn't have been able to use even if it wasn't under construction due to the jackhammering by the pools. The main pools were unusable due to the construction noise. On top of this we received notice of maintenance in our room between 10am-5pm one of the days. There is also only one working elevator for an entire building that is also used by the staff and construction workers. Finally we had to call maintenance 3 times to get a major leak fixed in our room that went into our closet with our clothes and shoes. Long story short DON'T come here if you have an option. The staff doesn't care as their main business is people locked in for 30+ years on a timeshare.

Jack hammers, drills, and disappointment
I really wanted to like this resort, and had all the amenities been open, and had every day not have been filled with the sounds of jack hammering, I would say we would stay again, however that is not the experience we had, and the staff/management were not willing to do anything about it. I don’t think there’s enough room in this box to detail all the things that went wrong on this trip, but what people should know is that the swim up bar was not open 4/5 days of our trip, when it did open, the construction noise was so loud (drilling and constant jack hammering), no one could stand to be at the pools. Our friends had a flood in their room and our key cards readers broke several times. There was only one working elevator (we were on the 12th floor) and all the construction workers also used that same elevator. There was also daily construction IN our room, none of which was disclosed at booking or with enough time to change resorts. Only a few staff members were friendly or helpful. The majority seemed annoyed to be working. I gave the management several opportunities to make things right that they didn’t take. They only offered a cheese plate and 2 free drinks that never came. They offered relocation to their sister resorts after our travel agent reached out but those resorts didn’t have the amenities or location we signed up for. This was for a 10 year anniversary trip, and while we loved the island, the Divi Phoenix was a big disappointment.

One nice person
Beautiful resort, terrible front desk customer service and support. Was not notified prior to trip regarding major construction or pool bar being closed. Was offered two free drinks in exchange for issues. Shut down cards prior to checkout. Very unfriendly staff. The only nice person was working the beach putting out chairs and helping people. Couldn’t find him before we left and still own him a cigar. Next time.
