    Divi Phoenix Rules

My wife and I have now stayed at this resort for 20+ wonderful vacations. One of the items that most impresses us are the efforts made to maintain and improve the resort over time. Every year there are additions to help improve your vacation experience, be it upgrades to the facilities, like this year where there was a wholesale refurbishing of the resort underway. Pearl, the General Manager for the Resort, is outstanding as evidenced by a well-run resort with a great staff who work hard to make you feel a welcome valued guest! After my wife and I checked in without any issue, we went down to the beach area where we were greeted like family by Sandra Mora and Julio I. Over the course of the week, we had the pleasure of interacting with several other team members, Julio II (as the team likes to call him), Ariel, Jean Paul Lucky, Christian, Juan, along with Oneil Dailey from Security and Andres from Food and Beverage. My wife and I have commented many times that this resort is our home away from home! It’s the staff that makes us feel this way and we can’t wait to return! Needless to say we HIGHLY recommend the Divi Phoenix!

    Antiquated room, all else fine

The beach, pools, lobby etc all very nice. Money well spent making exterior nice. However forgot to fix up tower rooms. At least 10 yrs beyond best before date. Furniture worn, chipped or non-functional and plumbing fixtures from 1970's. Our luck? 5 months before refurb. Watch for massive price increases thereafter.

    Will Not Stay Here Again

We are owners at Marriott Aruba Surf Club. We had been staying there prior to moving to the Divi Phoenix for a week. Our week at Surf Club overlapped our week at the Divi so we decided to check in a day later. I didn’t want them to give away our room if we didn’t show up for check in on Saturday, the 23rd, so I called reservations and told them we wouldn’t be there until Sunday. I walked down Saturday night the 23rd (the day our reservation started) , the day we were supposed to check in, and told Sugiene, at the front desk, I was hoping I could just go up and see our room but we wouldn’t be officially checking in until the next day. She would not allow me to see our room. She said our reservation said we were now checking in the 24th. I did get annoyed because our check in date was that day so technically it was our room. I told her we would be checking in the next day early because we had to check out of the Surf Club early. She told me we could not check in until 4pm the next day! I was starting to get angry. Our reservation started November 23 and she’s telling me we can’t check in until November 24 at 4pm. We checked in close to 4pm the 24th. Right off we were told we had to pay environmental taxes, and fees that added up to $38 per day. I had just left Surf Club and I had my final statement with me. I said to them that a mile down the road I was paying $13.78 per night for these taxes and fees THEN she tells me about a resort fee, in my opinion this is not much of a resort to pay a fee. At check out they also added on a Feed the Children Fee for $1 a day. I paid it because you look like a jerk if you don’t feed the children but I doubt any children are even getting fed, I know nothing about that. When we entered the room we were hit with an overwhelming Pine Sol odor which diminished each day but was always there. We checked out yesterday and came back to Surf Club and we had to wash all our clothes because they smelled like Pine Sol. There was a dishwasher in our unit which I thought was nice. It had never been attached at the top so it hung out about 2 inches and blocked the opening to the cabinet that held the garbage under the sink. The bed was hard as a rock and the pillows were not comfortable. Positive: The room was clean The cleaning people and towel hut lady were very nice. The guys on the beach were nice I wish I remembered his name but we loved the young bell boy, he was super sweet Negative: The main restaurant in the middle of the resort. They are understaffed. Horrible service. Rude waitress. Coffee shop lady super rude too. The beach is nice, it’s clean and not overly crowded. Swimming pool is average. People looked like they were having a lot of fun in the pool. We won’t ever stay here again. I’m not one of those people that writes lots of negative reviews. Most of my reviews are positive.

    Just ok

The hotel was OK, but the staff was exceptional, especially Claudia and Jillian who assisted me during my visit. I did have some plumbing challenges: the water in the first room did not heat up, and the hot tub water in the second room did not heat up either. I would suggest this hotel if you want immediate beach access, but there is nothing else to do here; the pigeons were a bit much inside the restaurant and there is no nightlife ( all though if you walk 15-20 minutes you will in the Palm Beach shopping and eating districts which is one plus for the resort) on the grounds. The accommodations were clean but quite basic, and the lack of facilities was disappointing. Overall, I had an acceptable experience at this resort. I loved Claudia and Jillian's outstanding customer service, but the plumbing troubles and lack of activities on site were huge downsides. I would probably not stay here again.

    Annual Vacation to Aruba

We travel to Aruba just about annually, we came acrossed this timeshare rental through Redweek. The room was a bit dated and smelled very musty. Other than that all other areas were average.
