A Wonderful Time Away
Divi Little Bay Resort was a very nice place to spend a week while in St Maarten. The check-in process seemed prolonged, but standard for ‘island speed’. We had some issues with the internet the first couple of days, but that was resolved eventually. The condo (309) was large and comfortable. We had a great view of the ocean with easy access to both the pool and beach. The condo had a kitchen with 70% of the tools needed for a week’s stay. The last night of our stay, it seems the resort had booked a wedding at the pool just outside of our balcony. There was very loud music and a DJ performing until 10:30PM. This would not have been an issue if we’d been informed or given the option to move rooms. However, we only found out about the event and loud music when we heard it. When we called the reception desk, the young woman on duty seemed exasperated and annoyed by our annoyance.

Nice vacation at Divi
This was our first vacation in St. Maarten and it was truly a great one. We stayed a week at the Divi Little Bay Beach Resort and loved it. I was little bit worried after reading all the mixed reviews, but everything turned out well. The check in process was very quick. we arrived around 1 pm and the room was ready. I contacted the hotel after booking the vacation and they honored our request. We even got the room at the beach ( thank you, guys)!!! Room was really nice, probably just renovated, had all amenities that we needed. It was cleaned every morning. Overall, the resort is very clean. Everybody is nice and helpful. I have to thank Kenny from the Aquamania for taking care of us every morning with beach chairs and umbrella. Restaurants are clean and have a good choice of food, but if you expect huge buffets like in Mexico, you might be disappointed .beach is to die for, a heaven. Hotel is very close to Philipsburg, so going there is a must, as it is Maho beach :). Now, that not so great experience - all inclusive concept. After vacationing in Mexico, DR and Jamaica for 25 years, I am used to a real all inclusive. At Divi, it is different. The only place where you can get a decent coffee is the coffee shop and that one is not included, you have to pay for it. also, the roof top restaurant is not included, but that didn’t bother me at all, since I didn’t go there. After every meal or a drink , you get a bill and have to sign it and charge to your room. Literally for everything, every bottle of water, every soda you get. You get a list of things that are included at the check in and have to constantly wonder if and what was included every time you order something. It is very annoying , all inclusive vacation should be free of that worry. Also, minibar in the room had 6 soda cans and that’s what you get, it is not getting refilled. Besides that, resort is great and I would recommend it, if you are not bothered with this kind of all inclusive.

Our Anniversary Home Away from Home
We made our 4th Return Anniversary trip to Divi Little Bay Beach Resort in early August and once again our stay was amazing. Check in was handled quickly and my suggestion is to arrive early afternoon; get situated and meet with the events staff/concierge crew. Prior to my arrival I called twice and told the staff we were returning to our Honeymoon Destination and explained that this was our 20th wedding anniversary and my wife wanted a certain room and view; upon arrival we did not get the room we originally wanted. I give great kudos to Anne-Marie the General Manager who upon hearing about our plight, personally interceded and had her staff change our room. It was this personal customer service that she and the staff provided that make us feel special and why return to Divi Little Bay Beach for our milestone anniversaries. Upon getting to my room I realized that I had left a bag containing my electronics, Car Keys and CPAP somewhere between the airport, rental car pickup, and the resort. The staff led by Felix searched the common areas of the property without success and Felix personally made phone calls to airport security to have them search for my bag. It was found at the rental car facility. All week Felix made sure that we were well taken care of; rides to our room; luggage transported, and tips on where we could go on the island for unique destinations. Felix is the MVP of DIvi Little Bay Beach. The resort was clean; you do not need a special charging block for electronics but you will need a cube to charge cell phones. The staff at DLB was very helpful, very friendly and we were well taken care of. Lis was amazing and made our anniversary special with photos to celebrate the day. Tony the events coordinator had games and activities for guests and he is definitely the life of the party. We did the all inclusive plan and it saved us a lot of money and I recommend it. We met another two couples who were on the ala carte plan and they lamented the fact they did not do the all inclusive plan. We ate very well and all of our meals were enjoyable; I highly recommend Sea Breeze for nightly dining if you stay on property. Yanique our server was tremendous she remembered that I have a nut allergy and when the other server brought out my meal she caught it before I began to eat and had another one made for me. This was another example of the personal touches we received here Pure Ocean offered buffet style Breakfasts that had everything you could want for breakfast and it was very good. Raul was also excellent ad remembered our drink requests on a daily basis. Gizmo's offered outstanding service and American style food that was very good; Wings, Burgers, Hot Dogs, & Fries, & Salad. We really had no need to leave the resort to eat unless we wanted to venture to the other side of the island or go into Phillipsburg. The only two things I would like to see added to Little Bay Beach are: Jet Skin Rental on site & more TV channel selections from the states; I missed ESPN nightly and I am a huge Morning News follower so any of the Network channels would have been great. If you want to enjoy an idyllic get away and be treated like family. I highly recommend Divi Little Bay Beach Resort. We cant wait to return home again in 5 years for our 25th anniversary; especially when other resorts aren't as friendly and well run as this Divi Property.

Amazing Stay
Our stay at Divi was absolutely amazing! My family and I had such a wonderful time celebrating our family vacation and my daughter’s birthday. From start to finish, we felt so welcomed and cared for, and by the end of our stay, we truly didn’t want to leave. I especially want to give a heartfelt shout-out to Sheenah at Pure Ocean. She is truly phenomenal! My entire family, especially my daughter, looked forward to seeing her every day. She was so warm, kind, and attentive, and her genuine care made such a lasting impression on all of us. Sheenah went above and beyond to make our experience special, and she truly helped make our stay unforgettable. We are so grateful for her and for all the wonderful memories we made at Divi. We can’t wait to come back!

The "UNfriendly" Resort
We are currently staying at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort after exchanging our timeshare through Interval International. We still have two days remaining in our stay, but after spending most of the week here, I wanted to share our experience so far. This is our third trip to St. Maarten, and we've experienced a few different resorts on the island. First, the setting really is beautiful. Divi sits on its own peninsula, with Little Bay on one side and Great Bay overlooking Philipsburg on the other. Our room faces Great Bay. While there isn't a beach on this side, the views across the water toward Philipsburg are absolutely stunning. The resort is a little awkward to get to by car. The entrance is only accessible from one direction, so depending on where you're coming from, you have to drive past the resort, turn around on a very busy two-lane road, and come back to enter. It's also on the opposite side from Simpson Bay, so having a rental car has been very helpful. We exchanged into a one-bedroom, two-bathroom suite with a full kitchen. This was probably our first disappointment. The photos online gave us the impression that we would be staying in one of the beautifully renovated rooms, but our unit is clearly older and fairly worn. It is clean, which we appreciate, but there is a noticeable difference between what we expected based on the photos and what we actually received. We have sheetrock/plaster peeling from some of the walls, cracked tile everywhere, and the bathtub doesn't even hold water (it had a patch in it where a hole was). Hot water was also lacking for showers. There is also quite a bit of active construction happening throughout the resort right now, so expect construction noise during the daytime. The property itself, however, is meticulously maintained. The grounds crew deserves a lot of credit because the landscaping and common areas are beautiful. We chose not to purchase the all-inclusive package because St. Maarten has so many fantastic restaurants and food options to explore, especially if you have a car. We've eaten off-property a few times, but we've also spent plenty of money on food and drinks here at the resort. On days we've stayed by the main pool, we've enjoyed the poolside food, including the fish tacos, burgers and coconut shrimp. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment of our stay so far has been the staff and service. St. Maarten has always felt like such a welcoming island to us, which makes the attitude of so many employees at this resort particularly surprising. They're just not friendly and welcoming... at all! Smiles are rare, and we've encountered several employees who seem genuinely bothered when we try to order something. What makes this even more baffling is that we are not all-inclusive guests. Every time we order lunch, dinner, a cocktail or anything else from one of the resort's restaurants or bars, we are spending additional money. We're paying customers actively trying to give the resort our business, yet at times we've been made to feel like we're inconveniencing the staff simply by placing an order. Today's experience at Seabreeze was probably the best example. We went to the pool there and decided to have lunch. We were sitting in the lounge chairs by the pool and were told to place our food order at the bar. When my husband went up to order, the bartender visibly rolled his eyes, let out a huge sigh and made it very clear that taking our order was an inconvenience. At that point, we simply walked away. Instead of spending our money at Seabreeze, we went back to the main pool and ordered food there, where the service has been better, although still not particularly warm or welcoming. It's honestly strange to feel as though you have to find somewhere at the resort where the employees are actually willing to take your money. And this hasn't been one isolated interaction. If it were, I probably wouldn't even mention it. The lack of warmth and, at times, outright rudeness from staff has been noticeable throughout our stay. That's especially disappointing because the resort itself has so much going for it. The location is gorgeous, the grounds are beautifully maintained, the pools are enjoyable, and we've liked the food we've tried. Even the older room wouldn't necessarily keep us from returning. The service will. We don't expect anyone to bend over backwards for us. We're not looking for special treatment. A smile, a friendly greeting and simply not being made to feel like a nuisance for ordering food or drinks seems like a pretty basic expectation at a Caribbean resort. We still have two days left here, and I genuinely hope we have some more positive interactions before we leave. If Divi could improve the overall culture of customer service and hospitality among its staff, we would absolutely consider returning. But based on our experience so far, it's difficult to justify the expense of timeshare points and cash for all the food and drinks—only to repeatedly feel like the staff would rather we weren't there. It's obvious that they don't want to be there at all.
