Another great trip to Huatulco!
Arrived Feb 2 around 3:00 pm. Was a bit confusing when checking in as we had upgraded to a Premium room and the check in location was off to the side and just looked like the concierge desk. We were hot and just wanted to take our luggage to our room to change into something cooler but they insisted that they bring up our luggage, which is fine but we were expecting them to be 5-10 min behind us, not the length of time that they were. Room was nice, the bed was comfortable and the view awesome. Was dated but clean, which is a must for us. The Premium lounge on the 6th floor consists of 3 tables of 4 and some couches and chairs. They have a small buffet, coffee bar and liquor bar. Food at the buffet in the lounge was luke warm to cold most days in the morning because the warmers were not lit. The serving staff in the lounge were great. We had an issue with the cleaning staff the first 2 days. Both days we went back to our room between 4:00-4:30 to take a shower, relax and get out of the sun for a bit, it was still not cleaned. We went up to the lounge to have a drink and sit in some air conditioning to wait. I mentioned this to the concierge in the lounge and she fixed the issue going forward. Our room was cleaned before 2:00 pm the rest of the time we were there, which was appreciated. Again, like most resorts, if you are not up early to crab a lounge chair with shade by either one of the many pools or a palapa at the beach you were out of luck. Sucks when you cannot sleep in and you see chairs sit empty for hours. Watched 1 lady save 8 lounge chairs in a row by throwing a top or towel or hat on them, only to see her and her husband come and use 2 of them 4.5 hours later. Two other chairs were used by their 20 something kids for a total of about an hour and the rest were not used, but nothing removed to allow someone else to use them. Very sad to see people like this, the sense of entitlement some people have. The food was just ok, either in the buffet or al la carte restaurants that we went to. I would say the Japanese one was both my husbands and myself favourite. Was disapointed with the drinks around the pool or beach. Most of the time the club soda was flat, the liquor not the best quality, even though we book premium. This was mentioned quite a few times while we were there that once Hyatt took over the property the quality went down, sad to see. Hard to justify paying more for Secrets or Dreams when Barcelo's food and top shelf liquor is better and at a cheaper rate. What makes this resort and the Huatulco in general are the people. They are hard working and appreciative and I have a great respect for them. This is why we keep coming back to the area. Will I come back to Dreams, maybe, but really enjoyed the Barcelo as much and for a lower cost. So I will wait my choice based on that next time.

Dr. Gonzales
Dr. Andreas Gonzales is amazing. He quickly diagnosed my husbands illness and treated him thoroughly with much compassion. He is an asset to Dreams. When we come back next year we will have no hesitation to use his services again if needed. 😊

A hidden gem
Just left Dreams Huatulco and if you haven’t been, don’t think twice…book it! The main reason is the weather!! Perfection for the entire week. Hard to believe but it’s the truth. We spent the entire week on the beach, swimming in the ocean but there are several pools to choose from if that’s your thing. The rooms are a little dated and could use some tlc but they work hard to make sure everything is clean. The water pressure in the shower is fantastic and the bath towels are huge! These things matter to me, lol. The only negative thing in the room was that the A/C didn’t work very well and they tried and tried to fix it but they couldn’t. The fan with different speeds is definitely is a plus and made it manageable. The food is plentiful with lots of options even for the pickiest of eaters. The fruit was my favourite! We took a taxi into the nearby city and we walked outside of the resort every morning and felt safe. Overall this resort is lovely and we would definitely return.

Relaxing and restorative
Really impressed by Huatulco and by Dreams hotel. The hotel is in good repair and teams were constantly maintaining things, cleaning things, etc. The service is outstanding and we found the staff to be incredibly friendly and courteous. The rooms had everything we needed (including good AC) and were kept very clean by the cleaning staff. The food was good and we tried every restaurant during our stay. The drinks were good with timely service. There were lots of pools to choose from and each had a different vibe. Some were sunnier, some shadier, some adults-only etc. If you are part of a larger group (more than 3 people) you need to get up early to reserve chairs but as a couple, we never had trouble finding somewhere, even coming down late in the morning. Huatulco itself (and the town of La Crucecita) is incredibly safe and welcoming with enough to do and explore. Overall, our stay was relaxing and restorative and we would come back.

Great food & drink on little sleep
We enjoyed wonderful food and drinks. The rooms were very nice with a beautiful partial view of the beach! The staff were amazing, letting us practice our Spanish. The food and drink service was wonderful, as was the room cleaning and the guys at the front who hailed us a cab. I would like to say that the serve staff at Oceana at breakfast and lunch were amazing. Friendly and fast, always right there with anything you needed. Great attitudes ! Thank you to Mario, Benely, Lizeth, Lucia, and Hugo. The beach was beautiful with lots of schools of fish in the shallows as well as many fish to see while snorkeling. We swam and snorkelled almost every day. The draw backs were that every morning at 6:30 am there was a person running a mosquito fogger, which sounds exactly like a leaf blower outside our room. We notified the receptionist and nothing changed. That makes no sleeping in for 13 nights! Secondly the music so loud on the first night that we were up until 2:30 am. Only 4 hours of sleep that night in a deluxe hotel called Dreams. That’s not a dream. Three, there were not enough loungers or palapas for the guests on the beach, where we spent all of our time. The steps down to the beach had a huge bottom step off. Not for anyone with problems with their knees. Over all I would give our experience an okay. The food & drink quality and service and the ocean saved the trip.
