    Dreams (Secrets) come true

We enjoyed Secrets La Romana as a family of four from the end of December 2025 to mid-January 2026. Our 2 preferred rooms had a sea view and, among other things, we also ordered a butler, Danilo. The location of the rooms and the range of services ordered met or rather exceeded all our expectations. Almost everything was amazing. Thanks to our butler Danilo, we could enjoy the hospitality and smiles of the staff, we didn't have to worry about anything, Danilo did everything he could for us. From making reservations at restaurants (which are not necessary except for Sakura, but why stand in line and wait for a place to become available?), to arranging Canabas, Romantic Corner, organizing the engagement of our son and his girlfriend (later fiancée), arranging VIP tickets for the New Year's Eve party, carrying a cooler with snacks to the beach, helping with organizing a trip to the local village of Bayahibe and many other services. Danilo proactively informed us about all the options (we didn't even know about many of them) and we were able to enjoy the entire range of hotel services, and his communication style and friendliness warmed our hearts. Danilo, thank you very much for everything!!! We also want to thank Danilo's colleagues Antonio and Yoel, their advice and chatting with them was always refreshing :-)!! And now for the review: 1) The preferred rooms in building 3 on the first floor with a sea view (only partial, because the view was partially blocked by palm trees) were large enough and standardly equipped with everything we needed. The furniture and equipment corresponded to 5 stars and the equipment was, in my opinion, more in the European (American) style. We had the only minor problem with the functionality of the shower and the hotel (maintenance man) removed (repaired) it during our stay without us having to report it (they found it themselves during cleaning). Cleaning was regular twice a day and absolutely flawless. Many thanks to the cleaners!!. The rooms were by the pool, about 30m from the beach and about 200m from the reception. If you want a better view of the sea, we recommend choosing the first floor (I didn't see any elevators), because in my opinion the ground floor rooms have a worse view. 2) Reception - guests of the preferred club have their own reception, as well as the standard reception for all guests. The preferred reception will meet all your normal requirements and includes the preferred bar (they overdo it with the air conditioning :-)), where you can have snacks and exclusive drinks. "WELCOME HOME!!" Those were the first words the reception staff greeted us with. Isn't it amazing? :-). 3) There are 2 beach (pool) bars, one for everyone and the other for members of the preferred club. It seemed to me that the quality of the drinks was the same at both, so it didn't matter which one you visited. The service was almost always smiling and friendly, you never had to wait more than 1-2 minutes for your drinks and you could enjoy almost any cocktail. The drinks were of high quality and the service didn't skimp on anything. The only thing that surprised me was the use of disposable plastic cups. I haven't seen that in the last few years. I recommend the hotel to think more about ecology. Thank you to all the bartenders and waiters, especially the staff at the Preferred pool bar. Olga, Jose, Rosario, Raúl thank you very much, you are great!!! :-) 4) In our opinion, the beach was the weakest point of the hotel. It didn't matter whether you wanted a sunbed in the area reserved for the Preferred club or for others. As soon as you arrived after eight o'clock, all the places in the front rows were already "reserved" by towels, as well as the better places in the back rows. Anyone who wants to lie close to the sea or under an umbrella must arrive at the beach around seven in the morning. The beach staff tried to solve the problem by taking the towels from the sunbed and freeing it in case the sunbed was unoccupied for more than an hour. After 10-11 am it was a problem to find a sunbed in the shade and there were either sunbeds on the blazing sun, or very close to other occupied sunbeds. Sometimes it was even difficult to find any sunbed. The main reason is the guests. Some reserved a sunbed early in the morning and then arrived at the place only for lunch, we even noticed guests who, for safety and comfort, booked places at the pool and on the beach at the same time, bad manners!!! :-(. It must be said that the beach staff always found some places for you and were always willing to help you. Thank you very much Carlos!!! His willingness and friendliness always pleased us and made the day better. Thank you Carlos for UNO :-). The beach is regularly visited by staff who deliver ordered drinks. Overall, the beach staff was always smiling and helpful. Thank you very much Diorka, Mejia, Jeral!! :-). 4) The pools were always clean, not crowded, they were just a little colder than the sea, but it was manageable. There is also a hot tub by the Preferred pool, which is very warm, almost hot, ideal for our joints. We used the sun loungers by the pool minimally, we came to the DR for the sea. However, it seemed to us that they were also quite full and many places were reserved unnecessarily. On the other hand, you could always find a place, even if it was further from the pool and without an umbrella. 5) The sea was clean, calm and warm. The beaches were always tidy. Secrets La Romana at the Preferred club has a smaller beach, so we sometimes went to the sea from the Dreams La Romana part (the hotel directly adjacent to Secrets, which is also intended for children), where the beach is larger and more fun. There are 4 Cabanas available on the beach at Secrets (for adults), which are relatively expensive (I think 190 USD/day), but it is worth trying them at least once. 6) In both hotels (you can also use the services of the Dreams La Romana hotel) there are an immense number of places where you can always find something small to eat. You can find refreshments on the beaches of both hotels. Then there are bars at the receptions of both hotels. There is a Casino and a fun Sports bar in the area. The service, food and drink were great, there is nothing to complain about. 7) Of the restaurants (I think there are 11 in total), I would especially recommend Sakura. We enjoyed the Asian delicacies repeatedly. Likewise, Coastal grill exceeded our expectations (sitting by the sea was amazing, the only remark was the Beyond meat burger, which was not seasoned and nearly inedible). Overall, the restaurants were delicious with quality ingredients, considerin it is all inclusive. In our opinion, the buffets were the weak point of the hotel. We can't complain about the quality, taste and assortment, it met the standards of a 4-5 star hotel. What bothered us, however, was the inability to serve most of the dishes yourself. You had to wait (many times in a queue) for the staff to put the food on your plate. With this system, the hotel probably saves money (and it's hygienic), on the other hand, the charm of the banquet was lost and therefore the reason to go to the buffet for the main meals. That's why we only went there 2-3 times, otherwise we used the restaurants. We also ordered extra wines/proseccos/champagnes (for additional charge), since the casual spilled alternatives were way too sweet for our taste. 8) We recommend not to skimp on tips, which are not mandatory, but which significantly help all hotel employees in improving their lives. They work very, very hard and for us, they fully deserve those few small tips. 9) Finally, I want to thank the entire hotel for a wonderful 15 days, we enjoyed it very much, gained strength for the next Year and if health and circumstances allow, we will definitely come back. Thank you very much :-)

Beautiful resort with stunning views, the best thing though are the staff. We booked a preferred club room which was immaculately clean and the additional facilities were great, the pool Beautiful. We particularly enjoyed the preferred club lounge and loved that bar staff, Adolfina, Junior and everyone else were just amazing. Thanks to them all x

    Beautiful Tropical Getaway

We spent 7 nights at Secrete La Romana in the Preferred Club with the most amazing Butler, Byron. He immediately set up a WhatsApp group chat with my boyfriend and I and was in constant communication for the week. He arranged dinner reservations, booked cabana’s for us, had beverages and fruit trays delivered to our cabana each day, booked us two taxi trips for two days of fishing out of Casa de Campo, and more. He is a true asset to this resort and is so personable. He is one reason I would definitely return. The Preferred Club Lounge was also a great experience each day! From the private snack buffet to the bartenders, Junior, Wander, Adolfina, and Yamelin, we were greeted with a smile and “Hola familia” each time we came around the corner. Their skills behind the bar and the drinks they prepared were above average and delish! At the Infinity Pool, the two servers for the week, Amairy and Belkis were always there with a smile in the hot sun and ready to make another drink for us! Our Room - Very clean! Wish there were some hooks in the living area to hang items but not a big deal. We had a swim-out room that was tranquil at night! Water pressure and water temp were perfect! Grounds - Well maintained. Beautiful and inviting. The palms are all in great condition and lead from one area to the next. Food - A bit salty at most restaurants. Service can be spotty but we weren’t in any rush. Chinola’s chicken was amazing! Mare offered a really good Salmon entree and the sushi was actually really tasty and well presented. We did the buffet for one breakfast and it was probably one of the best meals of the week. Lunch and dinner at the buffet were also good, as we did that once for each, as well. There are these caramel filled donuts with white and dark chocolate drizzle that are absolutely the best! I wish I could w found them everyday! The Preferred Club had a breakfast with a Chia Seed Pudding that I absolutely loved, as well. Do’s - Book preferred To guarantee a ground floor, book a swim-out Do the Butler service - well worth it! Try to get Canana #7 at the Infinity Pool (great view of the ocean) Have patience Tip well! Don’t - Pick up food from the buffet with your bare hands or pick up food with tongs and place in your hand and proceed to put it directly in your mouth at the buffet Treat the Secrets team rudely
