Nov 20, 2025Hurricane Melissa didn't stop great service.
We recently went to Secrets - unfortunately it was the week of hurricane Melissa - so no sun. Very nice grounds and staff. The food was generally very good. I appreciated the excellent service provided by Olga in the pool bar and Rosa at the Mare restaurant.

Nov 20, 2025Wonderful, relaxing, and fun week at Secrets!
We had a wonderful week at Secrets La Romana! The resort is stunning, nice beach area good for swimming, no rocks, gentle waves and gradual, two huge pools, and many great restaurants to choose from. Our favorite was the Latin Fusion. The bartenders were great, and we enjoyed the speciality cocktail on the beach everyday. We ate lunch on the beach almost everyday - barbeque lunch and enjoyed the live DJ. There were tons of activities everyday, our favorites were yoga, aqua Zumba, and dance lessons. We also participated in a rum tasting. The whole entertainment team was fantastic, so much energy and kept us having fun the whole time! Yuliana is incredible, she was leading activities from morning to night with enthusiasm. Maria Reyes, Yulieta, and Pablo Picasso were also great. The rooms were nice and clean, but to be honest we spent most of our time outside because it was so beautiful! Would definitely recommend Secrets La Romana and return.

Relaxation Paradise in La Romana
Wonderful stay at Secret Resort la Romana. The beach is absolutely perfect and the staff are incredibly friendly. Highly recommend.

Relaxing in Luxury with the best care staff, 5 stars to Michael Campbell!
Secrets is an amazing laid back luxury resort that was perfect for us to invite friends to. We had been a year prior and loved it. Michael Campbell truly is the reason our stay was so amazing. He did everything he could to give us the best vacation experience ever. From bringing us drinks to anticipating my dietary needs. He remembered from last year my exact morning drink requests. I am astounding just how kind, thoughtful, and generous this man is. The beach cabana was so special for us. The pool cabana on the preferred pool was a dream come true. We slept so well in the fluffy sheets and enjoyed having clean vegan body products. Negative if you’re vegan pack your own food. Biggest negative they fumigate and you’ll see dead insects and wildlife around.

I always try to be honest and fair when doing these reviews. Location is good. Secrets Beach is quite rocky and not the best I’ve been to. The dreams side of the beach is lovely. But again wouldn’t say it is amazing as other reviews have suggested. We are currently in room 2112 which is a swim up room. Rooms are clean and big. The Pringles and m and ms are a bit hit and miss. Some days you get them others you don’t. Fridge is filled but again hit and miss with the selection that you get ! We paid £5500 for 2 weeks and I wouldn’t say it is worth the money. We read other reviews on other hotels and felt that this place was a good place to be. It’s not the best ! The food is mediocre at best ! Nothing goes with anything. The main buffet restaurant is chaos so we chose not to go there. We ate in the al la carte restaurants. The Italian was okay. But only went once. The Japanese Sukura was okay. The mains were not great so we chose a lot of the starters to share between us. The Noor again is okay. The pakoras and samosas starters were delicious but again the mains not so good. The coastal grill we went to once as we didn’t like it at all. Don’t see the point of the Peruvian restaurant tbh. The French was the best. The starters were good and we had the beef for main. This was lovely and I can honestly say it was the best meal we had. The restaurants are not consistent you never get the same service or food the same twice. There is always some difference with what you get even when you order the same thing. We went to breakfast in the Mare most mornings as the main buffet is chaos and you can’t even get a cup of coffee in there even though you’ve been asked twice if you want some and you say yes. They never come back to your table. Even in The Mare you order the same thing and you always get different. So we went to the beach grill at lunchtime as we knew we wouldn’t eat much for dinner so at least you had some food. The main bar in the Secrets hotel was great. The bar staff are amazing and greet you warmly and always have your drink ready for you. We spent most evenings in there. The entertainment could do with a revamp in the lounge but we didn’t mind as we were happy to sit at the bar and chat. This is a really clean hotel always around cleaning up. All in all would I come back. No I wouldn’t. This is our second time in the dom rep. Island lovely but better hotels than this so do your research but you base your holiday and stay on what the reviews say. This is an honest one so go somewhere else !
