  My Experience At Dreams Onyx.

  Honestly 10/10 experience over at the bar by the lazy river hospitality they showed to me and my family was amazing I’d 100% recommend this place to anyone who’s trying relax have a great time with family and friends they I’ll make you feel at home, Kudos to Felix, Karina, Yomi, Joel ask for these guys over at the lazy river bar you won’t regret it

  Beautiful resort

  Location: Beautiful big resort by the beach, clean buildings/public restrooms, no mosquitos, very few flies. Atmosphere: Nice and friendly Rooms: Spacious Jr Suite filled with all necessities, very clean, lots of outlets for charging. Lots of TV channels. Service: Exceptional Beverage/Alcoholic drinks: Good Swimming pool: A lot here and beautiful Except the food, everything about this resort was great and beyond expectation. The food was a bit of a let down for me. The restaurants all had very limited choices. The main Buffet had the same food every day. Not sure why there were way too many sweets and fruits but not a lot of actual food worthy of a meal. I liked the "make your own" pasta and omelet stations, the rest just seemed a lot of food was premade and not fresh. Compared to other resorts I've been to, the food here was not worthy of a 5-star resort. A bit of a disappointment. The only place I enjoyed sitting in was the Coco Cafe. Loved the ambience and the service.

  Loved it

  Loved having the option to go to Breathless. Food was 10/10. Great service. The pools and some amenities need a little maintenance, other than that, everything was excellent. Great nightly entertainment and restaurants that do not feel like "resort food".

  Even better the second time around! (Highly recommend the Preferred Club)

  I first visited Dreams Onyx in 2023 and had a great time, but coming back now in 2026, the hotel has evolved. The overall experience and service are honestly ten times better than before. If you want a perfectly balanced, relaxing vacation, this is the place. The entire team radiates such a warm, welcoming energy. I have to give a special shoutout to all the waiters and waitresses, there was always someone checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. A huge thank you to our amazing concierge, Henry, who took care of us from the very first minute. I also have to highlight Chefs Antonio, Oscar, Felipe, and Piña in the Preferred restaurant. They actually listened to every single food request we had and went out of their way to accommodate us. These guys genuinely made our stay ten times better. Their service made the stay special for some picky eaters in our group. The food here is out of this world. My top recommendations: Blue Grill: An absolute must for meat lovers. Do yourself a favor and order the ribeye and the skirt steak, one of my cousins ordered the salmon and it was delicious too. Cin Cin: Another favorite of ours. The lamb pita is incredibly delicious. The French restaurant had a delicious onion soup. The preferred breakfast and lunch club: You have access to à la carte menu + the Carnival buffet. A must-try are: Tagliata, Salmon Toast, the Keto pancakes, poke bowl, and some grilled salmon. The lobster and churrasco are definitely a must too if you want a feast of kings. Room Service: Even at 2 AM, our late-night cravings arrived fast and tasted fresh. Having their American and Dominican breakfast delivered to the room in the mornings was a great way to start the day on our checkout day as we were too tired and woke up late due playing pool and watching a game while having drinks at the scores bar until 2 am. Rooms are spacious, they all have Sofa Beds, a desk which is perfect to work ( for us remote workers and digital nomads), minibar included which they refill every day and, a Jacuzzi. Cleanliness is a priority for them. We always had the ladies cleaning in the mornings and then going again at night to clean, get our towels, make our beds ready to sleep and even placed bottled water and dark chocolate on our night stands which was exactly what we needed after spending the day in the lazy river and the water slides + plus all the eating. Pro-Tip: Upgrade to the Preferred Club The standard package is good, but upgrading to the Preferred Club is 100% worth it. It gives you a dedicated concierge who will literally help you with anything throughout your stay—from setting up birthday decorations to handling any random request (they truly take the "unlimited" concept seriously). You also get à la carte breakfast and lunch, exclusive bars, and access to the adults-only pools. The entertainment during the day has some room for improvement, although at night they do fun activities like a Dominican party, beach glow party and live music something good is that you can just walk right over to their sibling adults-only hotel, Breathless( 2 mins walk). We wandered over on our first night and ended up at a foam pool party that was absolute crazy fun. The beach is beautiful but I did not get in as I enjoyed my time in the pool, lazy river and the water slides. This was my second time visiting, and I will definitely be back.   Disappointing Experience at Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa. Not the Luxury Vacation We Paid For.

  Unfortunately, our experience at Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa was extremely disappointing. We spent thousands of dollars expecting a relaxing, enjoyable, all inclusive vacation, but the overall experience fell far short of our expectations. STAFF ATTITUDE AND POOR SERVICE The attitude of the staff throughout the resort was one of my biggest disappointments. On multiple occasions, employees acted annoyed when we approached them for assistance, moved incredibly slowly even when they weren’t busy, and made us feel as though asking for something was a burden. At the restaurants, we would request something, receive facial expressions and attitude, and sometimes never see the employee return with what we asked for. We even had a butler included with our stay, yet we practically never saw him. What is the point of paying for an upgraded experience with butler service if the service is practically nonexistent? THE THREE HOUR SALES PITCH DURING BREAKFAST One of the most frustrating experiences was being approached by a salesman named Elvis during breakfast. We never requested a sales presentation, yet our breakfast time was interrupted by an unwanted membership pitch. He proceeded to ask personal questions about our finances, including how much we earn, what we do for a living, how much we spent on our vacation, and how much we make weekly. The questions felt intrusive and completely inappropriate for a vacation setting. We made it clear from the beginning that we were not interested. We were told the presentation would take approximately 90 minutes, yet it turned into THREE HOURS. Despite making our lack of interest clear, the presentation continued until we ultimately declined a membership costing approximately $500 per month and got up and left. We had already spent thousands of dollars on our vacation. Why would we want to commit to another substantial monthly expense when we came there to relax? Guests should not have to sacrifice hours of their vacation or repeatedly defend their decision not to purchase something they never wanted in the first place. THE BEACH EXPERIENCE We also expected a more private and relaxing beach experience. Instead, while walking along the beach, we were approached by people asking us for money and whether we wanted to smoke weed. We understand that a resort may not have complete control over everything happening along a public beach, but this was not the experience we envisioned when booking what we believed would be a private beach environment. AN OVERALL UNWELCOMING ATMOSPHERE What made the experience even more disappointing was the overall lack of warmth and attentiveness from the staff. We repeatedly felt as though our presence and requests were inconveniences. We also noticed differences in the attention and assistance guests appeared to receive, which left us questioning the consistency and fairness of the service. I even witnessed a young white American couple enter a restaurant, struggle to receive assistance, and eventually leave. This made me wonder whether the resort had broader service issues that management needs to address. FINAL THOUGHTS Between the unresponsive staff, practically nonexistent butler service, intrusive three hour membership presentation, and disappointing beach experience, this was not the relaxing vacation we paid for. A resort can have beautiful grounds and amenities, but those things mean very little when the hospitality does not match the price. We came to enjoy ourselves, not spend our vacation chasing employees, answering intrusive financial questions, or repeatedly declining an unwanted sales pitch. Management needs to seriously reevaluate its customer service, staff accountability, butler services, and approach to membership sales. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I would not recommend Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa to anyone expecting a seamless luxury vacation. We spent too much money to feel like we were inconveniencing people simply by being guests.
