4.5/5 – Wonderful Stay with Great Service and a Few Minor Hiccups

We had a wonderful stay at the resort and truly enjoyed our time in the Preferred Club. The property is beautiful, well-maintained, and very relaxing, with staff who go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Preferred Club & Butler Service: Our butler, Aris, was attentive and checked on us daily, always ready to assist with whatever we needed. He made sure everything was taken care of and helped make our stay comfortable. That said, compared to other resorts we’ve visited, the butler experience here was a bit less personal. We’ve had butlers elsewhere who sent daily messages with updates on the weather, activities, and restaurant openings—which we found really helpful. Adding that small personal touch would make the experience even better. Adult-Only Pool: We also want to recognize Angel at the adults-only pool—he was fantastic! He kept a close eye on everything, making sure only Preferred Club guests were using the area and that everyone was well taken care of. His professionalism, attention to detail, and friendly attitude really stood out and added to our overall experience. Housekeeping: Our housekeeper, Monika, did an outstanding job throughout our stay. She was so thorough and consistent, always leaving our room spotless and refreshed. We really appreciated the care she took each day to make sure everything was perfect when we returned to our room. Dining: We enjoyed several meals on the property. At Capers, we opted for a pizza as an appetizer since the listed starters weren’t too appealing, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The chicken parmesan and lasagna were both delicious and satisfying. At Blue Water Grill, we both ordered the ribeye steak, which came out undercooked at first, but the staff quickly corrected it and were very polite and accommodating. Once properly cooked, the steaks were flavorful and enjoyable. Breakfast at the Preferred Restaurant was decent, though we did wish for a few more menu options that stood out from what was available at the buffet. Health Note: Partway through our stay, we did experience some stomach issues that required antibiotics once we returned home. We’re unsure if it was related to food, drinks, or possibly picking up germs from another guest. It didn’t overshadow our trip, but it’s worth noting for awareness. Overall: Despite a few small hiccups, our overall experience was wonderful. The resort offers great service, a beautiful setting, and staff who truly care—especially Aris, Angel, and Monika, who all went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this resort and would happily return in the future.

    Amazing stay

Such a great stay. We were in the privileged club staying in a private pool room. The service from all staff was great. Special shout out to our butler Hector who was always on hand when we needed him. Bed was super comfy, great variety of food and drinks and top service from all staff. If I was being super picky the only things that could be improved are rooms are feeling slightly dated so maybe some modernising and we found the food in the Italian slightly too salty for our taste. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s one of the few I would return to.

Seriously Safety & Privacy concern at Dreams onyx Resort & Spa

I want to publicly my serious negative experience at Dreams onyx Resort & Spa. During my stay September 19/2025, i lost money inside the room.Even worse, staff entered my room took some money in the safety box despite the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door .

    Amazing stay with hearty food

We had an incredible time, largely thanks to the outstanding staff who made our stay truly unforgettable. Our butler, Osvaldo, went above and beyond with exceptional care and attention. Although we initially booked a Preferred Club swim-out room for four nights, Osvaldo surprised us by upgrading us after just two days to a Preferred Club private pool room — and that turned out to be the highlight of our stay. The room’s proximity to the private pool allowed me to relax and enjoy the jacuzzi and pool constantly. I definitely recommend investing in a Preferred Club room—the experience is absolutely worth it. At the Preferred Lounge, Roberto welcomed us warmly and was an outstanding host. We can't stop raving about Ronni, who crafted the most incredible cocktails—definitely the best in the entire resort. Domingo was fantastic as well, and chatting with Manual was an absolute delight. The entire restaurant team was courteous and helpful; Casandra, David, Eric, Luigi, Peter, Margarita, and several others whose names escape me were all wonderful. At the Preferred Pool Bar, Inoel and Ismael served us enthusiastically every time. The warmth and dedication of everyone truly made this experience unforgettable. We enjoyed our meals at all the restaurants we tried. One small piece of feedback regarding the beef: the steaks were a bit salty and slightly chewy, despite our request for medium rare. However, this didn’t detract from our overall experience, as we thoroughly enjoyed many other dishes. Food recommendations: Mercure- Duck Confit, Beef Tournedos and Creme Brule Capers- Calzone Meat Lover, Shrimp Risotto and Spaghetti with Meatballs Spice - Hibachi experience, Fried Ice cream Blue water Grill - Spinach Artichoke Dip Cin Cin - Stuffed lamp Pita, Cooked Octopus, Chicken Shish kebab and tenderloin , Beef Ossobuco Preferred Club Breakfast - Avocado Toast, Eggs benedict, Preferred Club Lunch- Fish Tacos Baja California style, Pan fried Salmon Carnival Menu - One lunch included Dominican specialties like Pork stew, it was amazing.

    Absolute Gem of a Resort

This was our second visit to the Dreams Onyx. We enjoyed how quiet it was in September. It made for a truly wonderful and relaxing vacation. The restaurants were alternately open throughout our stay and overall the food was exceptional . The Taco truck is a must try! A pizza truck on the beach was a fun alternate for lunch. Pools were clean and water was super warm. We were upgraded to a premium room in the Splash Waterpark area. Although it was very quiet, it wouldn't be our preferred choice next time. The garden view rooms would be oir choice. The Coco cafe was a real plus! A quaint cafe with delicious steamed milk cappuccino a f various other speciality hot and cold beverages made my day. Bars offer premium brands. The staff overall were delightful. We enjoyed engaging with them. They are focused on service and do an excellent job. The entire resort is spotlessly clean with beautiful gardens that are well maintained. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. Beach was very clean. While some if the resorts nearby were loaded with brown seaweed (sargassym) from the ocean, the Onyx beach was very clean. We will definitely return.
