  Resort Review

  This is a pretty mixed review. It has the bones to be really good, but failed in numerous areas. They did a good job overall with customer service (minus the last person I spoke to), food and drinks were good overall, room was good, and the spa was awesome. However, where they did good at, also had a lack of consistency. Pool bars closed very early (around 5:00pm). Restaurant’s were closed all over the resort, on numerous days, and Secrets was under renovation so all of their restaurants were closed. For being an “all-inclusive” resort, things should be open at the very least on the resort you book. Desserts lacked in my opinion, there were a few that were good, but for the majority they were not impressive. Room service did great, when they were there. One day my wife and I were out from 9am-2pm and nobody came and did our room, even when there was a request to clean it up. It eventually got done when we went to Dinner that night. The hibachi restaurant was incredibly hard to get into. When you do get in, you get backed up. We had a reservation for 7:00pm, did not start until 7:20pm due to them not being prepared and getting backed up. For the price you pay for this resort, there are numerous other resorts I’d rather go to or recommend. When I brought up my concerns to the front desk the day of our check out, I got told, “you can file your complaints within the survey we send you”.

  Great Security Staff

  I only have good things to say about this hotel. Thirty minutes after arriving, I went to the pool, which was partially empty, and left my sandals nearby. At that time, there were only a few foreign teenagers around. When I came back for my sandals, they were gone. Since it was late, I thought maybe a hotel staff member had picked them up, but that wasn’t the case. I reported the incident and honestly didn’t expect to see them again. However, the security team checked the cameras, identified who had taken them, and went to their room. The individuals pretended they had planned to return them, but thanks to the staff, my sandals were recovered. I’m truly impressed and grateful for the hotel staff’s attention and efficiency. I do wish the thieves had faced some kind of consequence or at least a scare to keep them from doing it again, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

  Chef Adan Aguilar went above & beyond to help us cook a fish we caught while deep sea fishing - a core memory for us!!

  The resort is beautiful and there’s a lot to do. We did an excursion of deep sea fishing and caught a black grouper. We brought it back to the resort and asked if a chef would be willing to help us cook it. Chef Adan Aguilar (at Mari’s seafood restaurant at the resort) made us a spectacular meal and went above and beyond to make it a special experience for us. He cooked the grouper a variety of different ways for us to try (blackened, grilled, fried, tacos, etc.) and personally brought it out with a beautiful presentation for us. His talent for cooking really shined when he got to steer away from the normal resort offerings and get creative at his own discretion. It was SOO good! The staff helping him also went above and beyond to help make the little lunch event special for us and it became a core memory for us! (Adalbato Lopez and Miguel Angel May were the staff). The room service food is absolutely terrible, but the rest of the resort makes up for that. Beautiful beach, great pools, beautiful accommodations.

  Excellent for group of families!

  Spacious room for 4, with lots of pools and bars spread out for access. Drink service by pool. Food can be ordered at restaurants and brought back in Togo containers. FOOD Vegetarian friendly - - Maris: excellent breakfast - That’s a wrap: freshly made sandwiches and wraps. - Tides: delicious veggie burgers, upon request. Nachos can be made without beans with meat. Chips, guacamole and pico great snack. And ofcourse, fries! - Tres Colores: veggie quesadillas, veggie tacos, - Fusion: fried rice with tofu was the only option. Other items were pre-prepped and therefor could not be made without meat/fish. - Meze: had many options but we could not fit in - Dolce: delicious espresso and ice cream, desserts. They close early at 10pm before most restaurants (11pm) - World Cafe: vegetarian options limited. POOLS - heated! Shallow pool for babies less than a foot deep Kids pool area near 2 water slides - great for toddlers and young kids Lazy river - fun for tweens and up. It was a bit slow in spots. Center pool - very large with zero entry and many other entry points with lounge chairs throughout Main pool with music and entertainment. Multiple hot tubs X pool chairs seem to get reserved pretty early some days - annoyed that empty chairs were reserved when we arrived post breakfast around 8/9am. KIDS Kids explorer club geared for ages up to 8 X Not much for ages 8-12 - most time spent in pool. Teen club for 12 and up with pool tables, foosball, mini golf, archery, rock climbing.

  We will go back

  The resort was beautiful and had great amenities. The food was very good, even the buffet was delicious. They had great staff and customer service. Jaime Lagunas, the pool concierge, was very accommodating and friendly. He made sure our experience was memorable. We will definitely come back, it was a great spot for a family vacation.
