  Relaxing but not up to par for a Dreams Resort

  Dreams Sands is a short ride from the airport.The resort is older and some areas were in need of repair with water dripping out of the ceiling in buffet restaurant. We had the preferred package. Our room had an ocean view, room was very clean but small compared to other dreams we stayed in. Staff was very friendly except for night mgr in preferred lounge. Preferred lounge had 4 nice tv’s all on golf channel. Asked to put on football game and were told couldn’t change channel. Asked to speak with mgr a few days later to watch world series on tv up there. We were told no. When we said we’d contact Hyatt he said he’d make an exception. When we went to watch game tv was on baseball but no volume. Asked night mgr to turn up volume he said no that he needed to be able to talk with other customers even though we were only ones in bar. Guy was very unprofessional.Beach and pool area was small and not enough chairs for guests. Ocean was weedy but not fault of resort. The resort had 3 pools and a kiddie pool. The preferred pool was littered with little kids everyday with most unsupervised. No swim up bar but staffed worked hard to take your orders. The food was subpar with not many options. Best meal was breakfast. Ate in steakhouse twice, first time my wife’s salmon was raw, second time the tenderloins were so raw they were purple and bloody. They had a large party that night and were understaffed for the rest of the guests. I’ve stayed in 5 Dreams resorts now and this one left a lot to be desired. A 3 star resort at best. The preferred package at this resort wasn’t worth the extra money paid. Shout out to Angel at the pool, Alberto in preferred breakfast and VIP Santos.

  Birthday Experience

  We enjoyed the staff at Dream Sands. The beach staff and wait staff were awesome. The rooms were clean and they provided us with everything we needed. The Preferred Club was great (one exception was I wish we could have watch something different then Golf all the time). The entertainment was not as it was at other resorts that we have visited, but we still enjoyed our stay.

  Wonderful staff and a great stay—we would definitely return!

  We visited Dreams Sands Cancun last week and had a great experience! Before arriving, some of the reviews about the building, food, and service had us a little nervous, but we were very happy with our stay. Yes, the building is older, and there are some signs of age and the occasional quirks you would expect. For us, though, the incredible staff and amazing service more than made up for that. The entertainment team was a highlight and brought so much energy and fun to our visit. We also enjoyed the food. The quality was good, there was plenty of variety, and it met our expectations for an all-inclusive resort. What really stood out was the people. Angie, Argentina, Mayte and the whole entertainment staff; Rafel and Carlos at Himitsu, swim-up bar and pool bartenders, and so many others!) The staff made us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout our stay. We would definitely go back!

  Don't spend time and money

  1. Room not as advertised. The room was booked as ocean front/ocean view. We were given a room with a half window that does not open. 2. Cleanliness. The bed sheet had a stain, and we asked for it to be changed. The replacement duvet cover also had a large stain. 3. Old and damaged items. The crib provided for our baby was very old, scratched, and damaged, which is a safety concern. The pillowcases had small holes, and the blackout curtains also had small holes. Overall, the room's furnishings were worn and outdated. 4. Missing amenities. No utensils were provided, coffee and other supplies were not restocked, and we were refused room slippers unless we paid extra or were "preferred" guests. 5. Food quality. At the Asian restaurant, my miso ramen was extremely salty and tasted like plain broth with soy sauce, not miso soup. My wife's beef noodle dish had only four small pieces of beef. The buffet was very limited, with only a couple of soups and a few Mexican dishes. 6. Limited kids club access for infants. The kids club room for infants was only available twice a day, for one hour each time (9-10 am and 1-2 pm). That is very restrictive for a resort marketed as 5-star and family-friendly. I don't know what's the point to make that restrictions there were no kid when we able to make it at our last day. Only few toys were there, honestly it was not clean room we spent there 1” Min and left Each of these may seem small, but together they define a guest's stay. I have stayed at many resorts and hotels, including 3-star properties, and they offered better amenities and service than this resort, which is marketed as 5-star.

  Beach Vacation

  This was our third visit to Dreams Sands. The service provided by the staff is always great and never disappoints. The only significant change was the beach. The beach is still the best we have visited, but over the years, there has been alot of erosion, shrinking the size and beauty of the beach. If you are looking for a relaxing beach vacation, this is a great place to be. The customer service is wonderful and the food is good.
