Don't stay here unless you are on the all inclusive plan. Horrible service
The property itself and the rooms were very nice. It seems however the resort is geared to those customers who are on the all inclusive plan and we were not interested in a week of all you can eat buffets . They charge $14 per device per day for internet. Been going to Mexico for over 20 years and have never seen that in any resort we have stayed. Gym was another $10 per person per day if you used it. Our real issue though was with the quality of the food in the restaurant's and poor service. First night we ate in the restaurant. Took 15 minutes for the waiter to come to the table and they only had 1 menu for 4 people. Food was average at best and the margarita has no alcohol in it. This seemed to be a common issue as we overhead several people at the pool sending drinks back for the same reason. We had 2 breakfast's there and again experienced poor service. Shouldn't have to wait 45 minutes to get 2 pieces of toast. People were getting up to refill their own coffee because the waiter was nowhere to be found. Also beware of the golf shop. The hotel posts an exchange rate of 17 pesos to the dollar. The golf shop doesn't post it but uses 21 pesos. That means golf for 2 is not the posted $175 but more like $200. The caddie also stole 200 pesos from my wife's golf bag. We did not report this because we did not want to deal with the hassle. We successfully avoided the time share presentation but those people are relentless.

The Best Resort with the Best Staff!!
We just returned from an amazing two week stay at the El Cid Marina. This was our tenth visit and the Marina just keeps getting better and better. It is our home away from home. We love the private beach which is just a short (very short) water taxi ride away. It is so relaxing. The food and beverage service is outstanding. The seafood cocktails, grilled shrimp, and quacamole are so fresh. There are plenty of servers so you never have to wait for a cold drink. Often, they’re bringing the next round before you even ask for it! Note - the water can be a little tricky - there’s a bit of a dip in the beach and the undertow can get a little strong. Our favorite part of the resort is the swim up bar at the Calypso pool. The perfect place late afternoon drinks. The bartenders and servers are the best. So much fun! There are two restaurants on site. We are partial to La Terraza because we enjoy eating outside. We had three dinners there. All were delicious- especially the Mio Cid Shrimp. Again, the service was impeccable. Twice a week a little combo plays, which adds to the atmosphere. The only complaint is that they stop around 9:45pm. Would love to hear them go later. This does raise one point about the Marina. It primarily caters to an older crowd (we are in our late 50s and feel young by comparison) although you do see a fair number of young families. Either way, it gets really really quiet after 10pm. The Lobby Bar is open until 11pm but there’s rarely anyone there. So, if you’re looking for a party scene, then the Marina probably isn’t for you. The rooms are spacious with good AC and decent black out curtains. The beds are super comfortable and the pillow menu is a nice bonus. Having two sink/vanity areas makes getting ready for dinner much easier. The exercise room is very convenient and has a nice variety of equipment. Even with all of this, what truly brings us back year after year after year is the people. We’ve been to other all inclusives and you cannot find a kinder, more attentive, more professional, and more fun staff anywhere! We particularly want to recognize the following for making our trip so wonderful— Cristopher, Edgar, Eduardo, and Ivan - Calypso Pool Alejandro, Manuel - Beach Club Antonio, Fabian- La Terraza Edgar, Edgar, Victor, Leonardo - bellmen/drivers Vallerio Avi And last but in no way the least, Jose Luis - El Capitan. Our longtime friend who always takes the best care of us. Thank you, all! We truly hope to see you next year!!

If you have not been here yet, what are you waiting for?
I am a sucker for customer service. With that in mind this destination has met all my expectations and more. In my line of work which is recommending the best doctors for medical tourism I have to be extremely selective. I want to extend my gratitude to every staff member of the hotel. In particular I'd like to mention the following names Katia, Karina, and Claudia for their warm attention and optimum service all day long everyday. I'm giving this destination 6 Stars not five Frank Nunez My Medical Destination
