Great food and amazing staff clouded by aging facilities and no "good beach"

Let me start by saying, this resort is fine. Nothing fancy, just fine. Come prepared for a great customer service experience and to be welcomed by outdated facilities. The Good: The people. From the minute you arrive, everyone is super kind and helpful. From check-in, to concierge, housekeeping, room service, bartenders, etc - I'd be hard pressed to find someone that didn't have a smile on their face who was extremely helpful. The room was the most updated part of the entire hotel. Clean and modern, the air conditioning worked great, the bathroom was huge, and the firdge actually worked! Big wins all around. With few exceptions, the food was really great all week. From the a la cartes to the surprisingly small buffets, the food was tasty and fresh. Our favourite was the "vendors" next to Arricifetes (? Spelling) that served wood fired pizzas, tacos, etc. Our favourite a la carte was Mia Casa Dorado, by far. Amazing staff, great atmosphere, and the food was the best italian food I've ever had at an all inclusive. Well done! The drinks were consistent and tasty. No sense that they were holding back on the alcohol in any way. No matter which bar you were at, the drinks were always great. The Bad: Overwhelming smell of sewage in various parts of the property. Hard to get hungry when it smells like an outhouse. Property is quite dated. The pools in particular are in rough shape. Missing tiles everywhere. Our swim out was stained black in a few places will missing tiles. Rust on the fixtures aroud the pool and even on the ceiling fans in our room. When we toured the property on the Palms side with the sales staff (story below) I felt like I was stepping back into 1995. Overall, the property needs some TLC. Contrary to what we've read, there is no "good beach". There's just one that's not as bad as the other. The "good beach" is missing chairs and bali beds. The water is rocky, so be prepared to bring some water shoes to maximize your experience. Sale staff are quite aggressive. The ultimate goal of these resorts is to get you to become a member. I had been through one of these meetings before back in 2013 at another resort and sort of knew what to expect. In exchange for an hour and a half sales pitch, we received a complimentary couples massage. Our meeting was great and provided us with a great overview of the entire property. Then came the pitch and the cost of entry was quite steep for us ($11,500). We politely declined to several alternate offers and then finally they asked us for a $600 down payment for a future vacation that would be used towards that future stay. We're still not clear what ythe benefit was of that other than providing the property with liquidity they clearly wouldn't be spending on updating the premises. All-in-all, it was a fine week but this resort is 110% not worth the price, particularly given the outrageous prices they're asking now. It's a 3 star resort. If you can get a deal for $1500-$2000 per person per week, give it a shot. Anything more than that, and your money is better spent elsewhere.

    Good Value All inclusive Resort

We (two couples) travelled to this resort in November. When we booked the resort had a reasonable price for what is being offered. We had a very good time. We arrived at the Cancún airport and found the Lomas representative for transportation. There was one other stop on our way to the resort but it was fine. Check in can be a little slow but we had a cerveza while we waited. The room was lovely. Large bathroom with two sinks, walk in shower and tub. The bed was comfortable. There is a mini fridge that has beer and pop a s snacks. The balcony was nice and had access to the pool on our floor ( fourth floor). We love that feature. The AC worked well and the room had two ceiling fans so it was very comfortable at night. The Seaside has the party swim up bar but it is closed by Six pm. The resort is very large as it is a combination of three resorts. It was great for walking. There are lots of pools and bars and restaurants on the property. A lot of the bars had swings which I loved. There are lots of golf carts around to drive you around the resort if you don’t wish to walk. The bars all make decent drinks with the Mezcalita in SeaSide Suits Lobby being the best. The food was good and we did get reservations at the Asian and Italian restaurants mainly because we are okay with eating early. We also liked the Driftwood for breakfast as it is an al la carte rather than a buffet. The beach is corally on the SeaSide section but is much more sandier on the Palms side. There is a very good barbecue spot on the beach. The staff are all very friendly and always greet you with a Hola. We had no issues with anyone.

No help from Lomas or the resort.

Terrible experience from the moment we landed. My daughters and I along with two other couples, arrived at 10:30 p.m. with no transportation waiting for us. We were completely stranded and left to fend for ourselves. After scrambling for options, all seven of us had to take a taxi at $139.00 USD per family, with the promise we'd be reimbursed. That never happened. What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation turned into a stressful nightmare. This was completely unacceptable.
