Perfect people, perfect place, Pura Vida!
We had an incredible stay at El Mangroove. We never slept better and the staff couldn't have been more attentive. They knew our names, our favorite drinks, and we even shared a secret handshake with Garant. Service was spot-on and each night ended with a sweet treat delivered to our door. Pablo, our concierge went above and beyond. He worked to make our time in Costa Rica unforgettable—recommending, arranging, (and rearranging) our adventures and dinner out. Following his advice, we combined our touring into one full day, allowing plenty of time to also enjoy the resort. He was great to work with. Our full-day excursion included a wildlife tour, waterfall hike, volcanic hot springs mud bath, and coffee/chocolate/empanada making and tasting. It was great from start to finish. It’s a beautiful country and we had a knowledgeable and personable guide. Not only did we make amazing memories, but Erick made sure we had stunning photos to take home. And even though no one else had signed up for a bioluminescence boat tour, Pablo found another couple to go. I know the timing has to be right, but the bioluminescence was glowing. It was truly a magical experience. Bottom line: this resort has the warmest, kindest people, we slept beautifully, and we left with a collection of unforgettable memories and photos. (And don’t forget to try a chili-guaro shot!)

The best customer service in Costa Rica
Without a doubt El Mangroove offered the best service we’ve ever received at a resort. The entire team were amazing. Particularly Diana P. the concierge, Andres at check in and guest services, and Henry who was managing the pool area. But there were many more team members who deserve recognition like at the coffee tasting, the spa and at the restaurants and cabanas. Honestly the fact that we know several names is an indication of how memorable the service level is. And I think it’s important to note that the service is authentic and honest. It’s not simply that they are attentive, but they were genuine, remembered your name, checked in organically, and truly cared about your experience. The hotel itself is beautiful and well-located. And it’s truly quiet and relaxing. If there was any critique at all it would only be that the hotel is somewhat limited by what I assume is the Marriott brand corporate procurement contracts, because it would be nice to see more local Costa Rican farms and producers and spirits and wineries represented. But I imagine that is out of the purvey of the individual hotel itself since it’s a part of such a large parent company. I’m sorry this is such a long review, but I can’t say enough about how fantastic this place is. And we also stayed at the W, which was pretty and perfectly pleasant, but didn’t hold a candle to the welcoming atmosphere and personal attention and warmth AND value of the El Mangroove. You absolutely should stay here. It’s near perfect.

Love Costa Rica
Spent 5 days at El Mangroove Hotel in Guanacaste, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a refreshing drink and a cool towel, a great way to start our vacation. Our room was spacious, modern, and very comfortable, with beautiful views of the ocean and lush green surroundings. The pool area was relaxing and well maintained, and the staff throughout the hotel were always friendly and attentive. Transportation around the property was easy, and everything felt very organized. Overall, it was a relaxing stay in a beautiful natural setting We searched for local companies in Guanacaste and found nomadtourcr, and it was totally worth it! The hike to the waterfall was amazing, surrounded by wildlife and lush nature. Ronald was very informative, and we also enjoyed some fun adventures and water activities. Everything was perfectly Highly recommended El Mangroove and Nomad.

An October Surprise in Papagayo
The rooms are quirky and the constant music in all the public areas might be annoying, but these issues are offset by the friendliness of the hotel staff, the pool facilities and the access to the public beach immediately in front of the hotel. Dining at the hotel was well done with the staff highly attentive and personable. We visited this hotel when there were very few guests and thus our experience may be different if the hotel were busy. We especially liked the adult only pool (and yes, this is policed by staff) but families with children will also like the much larger family pools. Do not expect that your Marriott status will be recognized with an upgrade. Seating in the restaurant seems determined by your room rate and thus you might find yourself always seated in the back facing a hedge (rather than the pool). Asking nicely to move might solve that issue. While the hotel is good value (our rate was around $225/night), the cheaper rooms are small and the weird layout doesn't help. One word of caution, try not to be on in the rooms immediately overlooking the carport/entrance. Both the traffic noise and the constant music will not be relaxing. (That said, it is very quiet at night). The hotel is also less than 40mins from Liberia Airport. Would consider staying here again.

The best sunset cruise!
Our sunset cruise was absolutely amazing! We came for our honeymoon and had the best time. Gracie and captain Pablo truly made our experience unforgettable — Gracie took us snorkeling, and we even caught a tuna! Pablo prepared the most delicious fresh sashimi right on the boat, played great music, and created the perfect vibe as we watched the prettiest sunset. It was the highlight of our trip. We’ll definitely be back next year! 🌅🐠🎶 #puravida
