    Absolutely YES

Me and my husband spent about a week here and I have nothing but amazing things to say. From the people to the atmosphere, food, and the best of all, the excursions. Our guides were so amazing, fun, attentive ALL of it. I cannot put into words how much we enjoyed ourselves. The waiters at lol‘kan were 10000/10 and the food there was really good, waiters across the board at all the restaurants and at the beach were amazing. Of the restaurants we tried all but the Thai place, they were all really good although we did not personally like the Italian restaurant others that we spoke to did. The Mexican was 10/10, the sushi was incredible, La cevicheria was our daily lunch and I enjoyed every bite of the ceviche, and the snack bar by the ocean was very good as well. We also thoroughly enjoyed the coffee corner every morning, I recommend the cappuccinos, and they had the best ice cream every afternoon. We did not love the Oceanside buffet, mainly because we didn’t prefer many of the foods available and also continuously went to the cevicheria and sushi restaurants. As far as the excursions we went to the cenote, chaankanab, playa uvas snorkeling, playa sur, and lastly el cielo snorkeling. Every single one was absolutely breathtaking and will stay with me forever. We had the opportunity to see crocodiles, rays, nurse sharks (very friendly), sea turtles, barracudas, dolphins, star fish, a mahi mahi, jelly fish, large king conch moving on the ocean floor, and hundreds of different reef fish and bird species. I highly recommend attending all of the excursions available to you on your schedule. A couple locations we biked to and got to soak in the views of the ocean, another was a walk down to the beach, one we went in a van and the last we enjoyed a beautiful boat day. Our guides were so informative, attentive, funny, and so nice. They made us feel very comfortable right away and would check in with everyone frequently to ensure we enjoyed ourselves. I cannot speak more highly of them. Especially when snorkeling which can be very demanding and at some moments we had strong winds but they were there to help anyone in need. A few other reviews describe the beach as being un swimmable which I cannot disagree with more. If you are looking for a sandy beach, this resort does not have that but some of the excursions like playa sur does. The coast is rocky but that did not make it un swimmable in my opinion. We had goggles and spent multiple days there just snorkeling and floating around in the water which was amazing. There are so many types of fish right there by the rocks and you could easily find tons of enjoyment looking at them. The current and winds were slightly too strong some days but nonetheless we enjoyed it. We also did not get hassled much for the timeshare presentation, we communicated not being interested maybe 2 times and then were left alone after that. One thing I highly recommend when coming here is to talk with the fellow guests you are going on the excursions with. We made so many friends just by talking about the excursions and then getting to know eachother. This made our experience even better, talking in the vans, on the boat, at restaurants, when we would run into eachother at the resort. We shared photos, videos and experiences. I would also recommend learning some Spanish when coming, almost everyone speaks English but have some knowledge of the language made the experience better imo. Another thing I recommend is TIPPING, we are coming here spending a quarter of what the people that work here make in a YEAR. Be generous. Overall I would recommend coming here, we plan to come back again and hopefully make even more memories.

The best team ever!! We love the Explorian.

El Ceilo, means the sky, for the second time a gorgeous day. We brought our son this trip and he literally enjoyed the entire trip so many sting rays, saw some turtles and met so many great people. The food and restaurants are always top notch. Explorian always does an amazing job, all the guides are always so through, and full of excitement for their jobs. Armando, Nestor, Santiago (Daniel), Jassel, all of them are great about their job and making sure everyone is comfortable and taken care of!! Our second time staying at the explorian and would recommend it anyone!!

    Fabulous jungle retreat!

Beautiful, Quiet Jungle Resort — A Great Way to Experience Cozumel We really loved our stay at The Explorean Cozumel and would give it about 4.5 stars. If you’re looking for a smaller, quieter and more private resort away from the busier parts of Cozumel, this is a wonderful choice. Our room was very comfortable, nicely appointed and extremely clean. The king-size bed was very comfortable, the AC worked great, and the shower was amazing with excellent water pressure. The minibar was restocked every day. There were only a couple of things we didn't love about the room. There is a somewhat odd step at the end of the bed, although thankfully there are glow-in-the-dark strips on the floor to help you see it at night. We also weren't crazy about the open design of the sink and shower area. I'm an early riser, so it was difficult to get ready without disturbing anyone still sleeping. The property itself is absolutely beautiful. It's lush, green and jungly, with small casita-style buildings containing only four rooms each, spread throughout the property along winding paths. The room entrances are conveniently located along the paths, so getting to and from your room is very easy. The balconies, however, are on the opposite side of the buildings and face out into the jungle rather than toward the walkways. It's a really nice design because you get the convenience of easy room access without sacrificing the feeling of privacy when you're sitting outside. It feels very peaceful and secluded. We saw iguanas, birds and other wildlife during our stay. The pool area is beautiful and very quiet, although this is one area where we thought there was room for improvement. There weren't quite enough chairs and cabanas, and the pool area was a little more shaded than we would have preferred. It wasn't a major issue, but it's one of the small things keeping this from being a full five-star review for us. The beach and ocean are across from The Explorean and accessed through the neighboring Fiesta Americana. This sounded like it might be inconvenient before we arrived, but it really wasn't. The "road" you cross is essentially a small, southbound-only lane with a bicycle lane, and the walk is easy. More importantly, Explorean guests have access to the Fiesta Americana amenities, so we ended up really appreciating having both properties available to us. The atmosphere at The Explorean is much quieter and feels somewhat more refined than Fiesta Americana. Although children are allowed, we felt the property was really better suited to adults. Personally, we would love to see it be adults-only because the peaceful atmosphere lends itself so well to that type of experience, although we understand why it isn't. There is one restaurant and bar at The Explorean. The staff were very friendly, but the menu was somewhat limited and the food could take a very long time. One little thing we appreciated was being able to request cold bottled water there rather than just receiving glasses of ice water. There is also daily coffee and muffins/bread delivered to your door every morning if you want to take advantage of that service. Having access to the Fiesta Americana restaurants added a lot of variety. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, the beach grill for casual food like hamburgers, hot dogs and quesadillas, and especially the cevicheria. The shrimp tacos there were fabulous, and it has a lovely view. Because we visited during low season, not all of the dinner restaurants were open every night and they rotated. The Asian restaurant was very good. We didn't try the sushi restaurant, the Italian was just okay for us, but the Mexican restaurant was absolutely incredible. The staff throughout our stay were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. There are many people we could mention, but Marisol at reception deserves special recognition. I had arranged an anniversary surprise ahead of our trip, and she was extremely helpful in making it happen. One of the biggest advantages of The Explorean, and something that I think could make it an especially good choice for certain travelers, is that excursions are included with your stay. If you want to experience more of Cozumel but are uncomfortable arranging excursions yourself, researching tour operators or figuring out all the logistics, The Explorean takes much of that hassle away. I think this could be particularly appealing to travelers who want to explore the island but are a little nervous about planning everything independently. We originally thought we would take advantage of several excursions but ultimately only did one. Part of that was our own scheduling—we wanted our first couple of days simply to relax—and some excursions either weren't quite what interested us or were longer than we wanted to spend. On our final day, however, we took the boat excursion to El Cielo and it was lovely. The Explorean tour guides were wonderful, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We also really appreciated the location. The resort is far enough away from the busier part of Cozumel that we never felt caught up in cruise-ship traffic or crowds. The snorkeling in this area wasn't quite as good as what we experienced during a previous stay on the north side of the island, but it was still beautiful. Overall, what really stood out was the combination of the peaceful, intimate atmosphere at The Explorean with access to all of the amenities next door at Fiesta Americana. We could enjoy the restaurants, beach and activity of the larger resort and then retreat back to the quiet, lush setting of The Explorean. For us, the slower restaurant service and somewhat limited food options, along with the limited seating around the pool, are the only things keeping it from a full five stars. They were relatively minor drawbacks in what was otherwise a really enjoyable stay. About 4.5/5 for us, and we would absolutely stay here again.
