Introducing the Big Island’s newest Polynesian Feast
The Fairmont Orchid and Island Breeze Productions announce a partnership that combine the Big Island’s finest cuisine with its most spectacular Polynesian production.

Using a fusion of both traditional Polynesian and modern dance choreography, the dancers of Island Breeze retell the story of the settlement of the Pacific. Displayed in its fullness is the mana (power) of the ali’i (chiefs) and how each would be forever linked to the one star that guided them.

Large resort with special qualities but needs updates
This is the second time we stayed at the Fairmont orchid. It is a very large property that can accommodate very large conferences. The room is decent size however, there is not much storage space in drawers. We appreciated the amount of light in the room. The bathroom had a separate toilet stall and the bathroom door itself is solid and not louvered. There is a decent side balcony with views of the ocean if you get the garden side, but there is no light fixture or outlet once it gets dark. The bed was comfortable, and the HVAC system allows you to run the fan to generate white noise. The hotel had plenty of filling stations for water and laundry at the end of each corridor. The staff at this hotel is warm, friendly and welcoming. The Fairmont beach has a protected cove where one can snorkel and swim, regardless of how rough the ocean is and this is a special feature that other hotels may not have for families with young children. The tiki bar was always busy with great ambience. The buffet had excellent food and prepared dishes were of high quality and with selections than another hotel I have reviewed. Based on your needs, please compare this hotel with other similarly priced hotel for what you’re looking for and the Fairmont may come out a little cheaper.

Wonderful experience
It had been an all around excellent experience. Accommodations, views, access to the ocean shore. All great I would say best of all has been the level of service by staff. And a special shout out for Mauria at the front desk. Helped us with logistics beyond the call of duty and with great humor and grace

Large resort near golf courses
This is a typical large resort. There are several buildings of 6 stories with various rooms. The large pool was nice and various ocean activities were available. The breakfast buffet was pricey but good. There is a smaller deli to get great Kona coffee and rolls. There is a very nice outdoor small restaurant on the sand which had reasonable options for dinner. The water bottles that they give you are very nice. The resort is not close to Kona, so you really need to plan accordingly. It is close to several golf courses.

Beautiful outdoor property...could do with a bit of updates inside
Stayed recently and while Fairmont Gold is a plus the inside could do with a refresh, carpeting, paint and the addition of smart TVs. Been awhile since we've been to hotel (big or small) that had, by now, not upgraded to smart TVs. Only here for a few nights and most days spent touring so did not get to experience restaurants or other amenities offered. It's a big beautiful Island so tv watching not priority but nice to veg with your favorite show after long day of touring...just sayin'

Used to be our favorite place
This was my fourth trip to the Fairmont Orchid in the last 10 years. The property is truly a magical place. The grounds are gorgeous...pool and beach are never too crowded. However this may be our last trip. It just feels like food and service have gone downhill. We have always struggled to get wait staff to be responsive on the upstairs open air spot. Even so, it used to be our favorite place to relax before and after dinner because of the mellow live acoustic music with that Hawaii vibe. Unfortunately on the second day of our stay the musician said he had just been informed that they were discontinuing music there now. The front desk confirmed that and said they had just abruptly found that out as well . The signs all over the property advertise live music nightly up there. Not anymore:( The breakfast buffet is great. The pool bar food is pretty good. However we tried the high end Asian restaurant last year and the food was overpriced and not good. This time we made a reservation at Browns Beach House our last night just to hear some mellow live music and sit outside. The atmosphere was fabulous. However when you spend over $400 with a tip for two people to eat you expect fantastic food. Out pork belly appetizer was like flavorless tough leather. Couldn't finish it. Our entrees were just average at best. Definitely not worth the price, so we won't be going back there. With the limitations on good restaurants , the loss of the live music atmosphere and the spotty wait staff service I think sadly it's time to find another place to try when we come back in 2028
