Relaxing and Fun, all in one

As a family we went on vacation to Fiesta Resort. This is a great place to relax and enjoy the various pools, food, and activities. The atmosphere is very important to me, and there is a good vibe. Rooms are clean, and the bars and food areas are well-maintained. I slept well at this resort, where my room was, and I could hear the ocean waves outside. Overall, the experience was wonderful. The guys working the bar were very entertaining and kind. I hope management recognizes the hard work they have done. Doña Juanita left cute towel figures when she cleaned our room. Diana at the spa was excellent. Fabricio and Tomas were fun and provided great service. Richard was very attentive and provided top tier service. The staff here makes the stay enjoyable.

Beautiful grounds and pool, amazing staff, rundown rooms, deceptive dining policy.

Let’s start off by saying that Puntarenas isn’t a tourist hot spot so we knew it wasn’t five star like our other resorts during our stay and set our expectations accordingly as we were there to visit my host family who lived locally. (Former exchange student) We booked the premium which means you must select an Ocean View room and a 2 night stay minimum. The claim was it gave you access to the Premium only pool, breakfast and lunch at La Macarena restaurant and the a La carte dining restaurants plus buffet. (Enjoy all 4 dining venues!) However, upon arrival they said, sorry the a La Carte restaurants are all sold out until the 3rd night of your stay. La Macarena is available that evening…the only evening we had booked a tour and wouldn’t be there. They said the a La Carte restaurants aren’t open daily…only one per day. This is not what their website says or what we paid for. After sitting with management, they conceded to Macondo Restaurant that evening at 9pm and La Macarena at 7pm our second night. They said they would squeeze us in. So they did make it right. However, there were literally only 5 other tables occupied in the whole restaurant at our assigned time?!? Maybe 20%? I am not sure if they are trying to avoid the expense of the premium dining or what…it felt very shady. That said the food at Macondo was phenomenal. Breakfast at Macarela was great! Lunch and Dinner at Macarela weren’t. The buffet was BAD! It was ok if you stuck to stations they were cooking at and gallo pinto is always a safe choice. The rooms are VERY rundown. Paint peeling, not very clean…and honestly it was aged dirt, like the kind you get from lack of renovating. It wasn’t disgusting, but far below what you’d ever find at a chain hotel. The second night we were awoken from a pipe leak in the ceiling which poured water out of the overhead light. We walked to the front desk as they didn’t answer the phone to alert them. Maintenance came and said we’d need to move to a different room. We packed up and moved to the room directly below ours. Stuff happens and it’s an uncontrollable so we weren’t upset about it. Now…if you can look past the rooms and the difficulties getting dining options, the place is fun! Pools are beautiful, ground landscaping is gorgeous, lots of iguanas to see! Staff is wonderful, locals are so friendly. Pool bars were fun, drinks were great and the place is fun! Once you get in it is totally all inclusive. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Would we go back? Maybe just to be close to the family we were visiting. The locals love it and think it’s amazing, but that may be because they do day passes and don’t stay in the rooms.

    Enjoyable experience

We enjoyed food but the service and friendly people were outstanding. Love the facilities. The location is great as it is so close to San Jose. The rooms are very clean and the room service is excellent. It was a bit more expensive than expected.
