    Best getaway ever.

We arrived and Check—in was very fast. After walking all over the grounds we knew it was going to be a great week. We had read several reviews about the food not being the best. We did not have a bad meal and plenty of restaurants to choose from every day. We did club level thinking we would love the private pool but we find out we loved the beach and other pools way better. Everyone was so nice and remembered who you were every day we arrived at the beach. No kids, which was amazing. Never been to an all adults resorts but loved it. Did the Mujeres island snorkel tour and it was really good. Love the snorkeling more than the island. Locals were a little rude a they will trick you into thinking they work on your resort. Do not fall for there stories. I almost did until another local told us to pay no attention to them. We rented a golf cart which was really nice and would recommend doing that. Overall the best resort we have ever visited and will for sure be back in the near future.

    The honeymooner’s

Chose this for our honeymoon and was not disappointed. Spoke with a lot of couples who said this was not their first visit to the resort and we can strongly say we agree. Hope to be back again.

Beautiful Resort but lots of negatives

Beautiful resort, large pools and Oceanside. Negatives were poor food quality, moldy, hot room, terrible pillows and lack of privacy in the bathroom and shower. There were not enough loungers for the amount of guests. Entertainment was terrible and not enough activities. One of the bars was so moldy that we could not stay more than 10 minutes!

    Over charged for my room

over charged for my room... I booked in September, for two people. I spoke with someone to make the reservation, giving both my and my friends name, we are both widows. that did not happen in the beginning and took over 3 phone calls to get that addressed. We were attending our friends 60th bd party. I called 3 times prior to our visit, to let the desk know of the plan for my friend to arrive prior and my arrival later. 12/8 @ 7:23 with dixon, 12/9 with someone whom I did not write the name down and again on 12/10 with Nealy @5:49. all to calm my friends nerves down, and confirmed my other friends name was on the reservation, as well as seeing what they process was. You/they were informed she would arrive at 10 am and I would not arrive until after 5 pm we were assured she would just arrive, and then would be able to use the ammenities without any issues until I arrived and checked in, as it was on my CC, as you do not split the cost on the cards. poor communication with your staff, she was made to wait at the gate, she was charge $120 for transportation as she was already in Mexico, when she arrived she tried to eat, and as I wasn't arriving until 5 pm ... she didn't have a room number so she was not given ability to eat at the restaurants. So they had her book her own room. Leaving me with a double room, without decreasing my cost, or moving me to a single room. When I asked about my credit for the single room vs a double I was told they would start an email with you, and discuss as they didn't deal with the financial. they also stated that my friend wanted her own room, which she states she had no other choice as you were not doing as you said. this morning, the morning person checking me out at 5 AM, had nothing to say except that you would be communicating with me. not sure if this is where you were going to communiate with me. the driver however still had 2 back to the airport, even thought I had the change everything to 1 person. My expectations are the following: I would like the discount of 40% we had back in September Making my room cost 308.34/total amount due of $1541.70. so please credit back my American express card $1541.70 I was unable to do any expeditions, massages or any extras as your group was unable to let me know how you were going to reimburse me. my couple friends whom all paid the 3,083.40 for the two of them were confident that you would do the correct thing, as are some other friends whom frequent your type of resort. Please address asap and credit within the next two days.

    Good not great

I am not one who typically writes a review, but I thought I should add my two cents here as so many people have given this resort such high reviews and I wanted to temper that somewhat. I have no real issues with this resort, and I am not working for a competitor or anything like that, but I just want people to know what our experience was like. To give a quick little background, we are four adults (ages 30-50) coming from Chicago during the month of December. All four of us have traveled extensively, and two of us have been to several all inclusive resorts in Mexico. We also feel like we know good food overall and are not snobs about our food but know what delicious means. Prior to even coming to the resort, I had tried several times to contact the resort but to no avail. I had listed on our booking information that we (two couples) wanted adjoining rooms and it was one of our birthdays during our stay. When we arrived they said they could not give us two rooms next to each other (we ended up being put in the separate buildings number 5 and 7) and we also told them it was one of our birthdays, to which we never heard or received another thing again about the birthday. We did go back to the front desk on the second day to see if any rooms were closer together, and they moved us 6 rooms apart this time in the same building (meanwhile one room next to us remained empty the entire time except for the last day). To try and break down the trip, I will first list what we thought the resort did well, followed by what we thought they did poorly or need work on. Good: The grounds were very pretty and well kept and everything was clean The rooms were nice, with a decently large shower and a hot tub in the room. We were on the ground floor, Building 5, with a bed outside in front of the lazy river, and it was very relaxing. Staff was always friendly and helpful The beach had nice sand, the seaweed was minimal, and there were a decent amount of chairs (although if you get there later then probably 9 am they would all be gone). They had towels everywhere to use, which was nice if you went from the pool to the lazy river, to the beach, etc The main pool temperature was just warm enough to be enjoyable, and the swim up bar made it very convenient. They also had raft-like floats to use everywhere. Service at the pool and bar was great and they would come up to you unbidden to see if you needed anything The alcoholic (and non-alcoholic drinks) were generally tasty or at least passable, with a few options on brands for the alcohol. The shows we happened to glance at or even watch were well done (magic show, Mexican show) The spa was very nice and they did a good job with the hydra-massage and couples massage, including the overall atmosphere and pampering. The food overall was fair to even bad, but there were several actual standouts in the right direction: The porterhouse steak at The Grill, the lunch at the Lobster House, the hibachi/teppanyaki dinner in The Spice House, the mole chicken at The Mexican Fiesta (special buffet one night), the passion fruit sorbet at the cafe. None of these were amazing but compared to everything else these were pretty good, flavorful and well done. I will say the buffet breakfast every morning had a lot of choices and was done well. Bad: The room had a lighting system that was not the easiest to figure out, and with no real information on it. In addition, the bathroom light would be triggered with a sensor (I am sure a good thing for most people in the middle of the night to avoid tripping), but the light would then stay on for ten minutes after you would return to the bed, which made sleeping afterward somewhat difficult. The hot tubs everywhere on the property were literally cold, and the lazy river was cold as well. As mentioned, they were not very accommodating for trying to get us two adjacent rooms, and they never acknowledged one of our birthdays despite us telling them. The service in the restaurants was extremely slow. I am used to slow service from traveling to Europe often, but this was another level of slowness. One night we literally waited 45 minutes for just our appetizers. I had made sure online that they had a tennis court so we could play, only to find out when we got there that there was construction on the tennis courts, with nothing being mentioned on the website about this. They tried to make up for it by allowing their new sister resort (Coral) to be the place where you could do lessons in the morning, but If we wanted to play tennis they seemed to initially be confused at the front desk whether this was even allowed. Then they eventually accommodated us but it took some time for them to find someone to take us there in a golf cart. In the end they made it work but it probably took an extra 40 minutes - not horrible but just nothing that had been communicated prior. Food overall was just average. The Italian restaurant, Oregano, was actually bad, and for lunch their pizza was practically inedible (tasteless cheese, insipid crust, etc), one pasta having a strange burnt taste with some hard noodles, and a “Caesar” salad with a dressing more like sweet ranch. The Grill, a steakhouse, had a good steak as mentioned, and the sides tasted relatively good (although mac and cheese was literally flavorless), but with portions downright ridiculous (a full side of asparagus literally was 2 small stalks to feed four people). In fact all the side portions were ridiculously small there. The beach restaurant, Las Olas, had an anemic shrimp cocktail, crappy nachos, and only fair wings. I will say the lunch at the Lobster House was quite good (excellent ceviche and salmon) and we probably should have eaten there again. Of note is we cannot comment on Basmati (the Indian restaurant), the French restaurant, the Mexican restaurant (although the buffet at the Mexican Fiesta party had some hits and some misses), or Spice, the Asian restaurant (but the teppanyaki/hibachi restaurant located inside Spice did a good job). We had no real problems getting a table at any of the restaurants (which you cannot reserve except for the teppanyaki one) for any night except for our last, a Saturday night. That night at 8 pm The Grill claimed their kitchen had something wrong with it and we couldn’t eat there, but when we tried Spice, Basmati, the French restaurant, and the Mexican restaurant as well, they all had 45-60 minute waits. After 30 minutes of trying all the others we circled back to The Grill and low and behold they now could seat us in 20 minutes. But once in there we waited 45 minutes for even the first bite of an appetizer (not even bread came, which had been served on a previous visit there) - and then another 30 minutes before the entrees came. Maybe it was just a very crowded night, but if they know Saturday nights are super busy maybe allow for reservations on at least that night, or warn us before at check in since all nights prior had had no problems. When we were checking out I called to have someone get our bags to take them to the front desk, which we were told would be no problem. Well - no one ever came so we took them up ourselves. My overall impression was that it was a nice resort, and they did a fair number of things right, but when you add up all the things they didn’t do right, including the food that for some reason many people on here have excessively praised, I just would not plan on returning. I realize that all inclusive resorts generally are not known for having amazing food, but even the food we ate at Grand Moon Palace (another AI resort geared a little more for kids) was better in my opinion. I’m sure others have a different opinion, but without trying to sound snooty I think perhaps Chicago restaurants have spoiled us.
