Feeling at home on St. Thomas
I loved the vibe - very island immersive, relaxed, and unhurried. Standout staff member is Barbara, who is warm, friendly and an experienced hand in the hospitality industry. She made sure I had everything I needed, including an easily accessible suite. The tropical flora on the grouds is impressive even for someone like me who grew up on St. Thomas. The view from my terrace, where I made my own breakfast each morning, was a delight. Looking for a local experience? The Flamboyan, even with a few quirks, delivers.

You get what you pay for
Office closes at 1pm, so you check in with no assistance, rooms are okay, shower heads should be cleaned after each guest and to prevent calcium/lime build up so it works efficiently. One of the pools and hot tubs are nasty looking and closed. Oh and don’t get locked out of your room, the hotel number and after hours number are not answered for out of town numbers. If you’re lucky enough to find a local that lives onsite to call the after hours number, she will answer for them. Only took us about 2 hours and climbing over the balcony (from one room to our room) to get back into the room after the front desk lady finally showed up and then couldn’t find the hard key (the keyless entry batteries died). Due to having no key/no keyless entry cards we were stuck in our room the remainder of our night. This prevented us from being able to leave to experience the night life on the island on our last night in town. Do your research before booking.

Run....
Checked in to this hotel on 8/3. Were not told that the hotel was running on an old generator and that the power was currently out. Found this out when we opened the door to our room. Returned to the front desk and was told "yea, nobody has power. After several hours of on again off again power, we decided to move to another hotel. My CPAP machine requires electricity to work. Returned to the front desk and found everyone had gone home at 6PM. Found a room at another hotel and left. Contacted Expedia when we returned home for a refund. Per Expedia, we sent 2 emails to the hotel to get a refund for us. They got no reply so as far as they're concerned, I'm S.O.L

A Relaxing Stay with Great Eats, But Rooms Need TLC
Flamboyan on the Bay Resort and Villas offers a peaceful escape for visiting St. Thomas. It's just minutes from the stunning Magens Bay, but comes with a few trade-offs. The rooms are dated and in need of refreshing, from furnishings to fixtures. However, what the accommodations lack in style, the on-site amenities more than make up for. The pool area is inviting, and both the restaurant/bar and coffee shop consistently delivered excellent meals. It’s worth noting that the location is somewhat removed from Charlotte Amalie and other attractions, so if you're looking to explore more of the island, renting a car is advisable. Otherwise, taxis are available but can add up quickly. Overall, Flamboyan is a solid option for travelers seeking a low-key, relaxing stay in STT—with the caveat that comfort in the rooms may vary depending on expectations.
