We are happy we chose Generations for our wedding anniversary
My wife Yolla and I visited Generations for our wedding anniversary. We both were pleasantly surprised with the Generations cleanliness, the exceptional service starting from Vanessa at the front desk, to Silvia our concierge, Primo, another concierge, the room cleaning staff, the servers (waiters) at all restaurants and the delicious food. Even the Bellboy showed up on time for our check out without us needed to call for him. The option of having à la carte dinners at all restaurants including the adjacent adult resorts is a big plus. Every time we thought a server (waiter) at a restaurant was good, we met another server (waiter) at another restaurant that was as good if not better. We also appreciated that all staff spoke perfect English. We hope to see you soon.

Fantastic 2 weeks at Generations
We loved our 2 weeks at Generations! 2nd stay, first as Members. What a treat! Everyone was amazing from Wilma Sosa at Prearrival(and post, I just spoke to her about bill questions) To our super stupendous amazing wonderful Butlers Luna, Gerardo and Diego as well as Jose. Loved the Generations entertainment crew Paty, Emmanuel and Claudia. We hung out with them almost every day. Do the activities people! Painting pots, bracelets, aqua zumba, cooking classes, it was always fun and busy! The food was beyond stellar on this trip. Loved Fuentes..amazing, dinner on the beach (included) the bistro at Aqua Nick was the best seafood buffet around (also Included) Loved Wine Kitchen, Santa Fe, Habb, Jade, Kampai, Cocotel, Chefs Market, Palms, Petit chef was sooo fun. I think the only 2 we didn't do were Italia Casitas and Rincon. We also hit most of the bars, Sling was our fave. Make sure to get there the night the space disco man shows up..hilarious! Also the members only activities were awesome, painting, wine and chocolate pairing, cocktail class. Loved the More inclusive! What a treat! Other than the wind canceling everything at Maroma. Even tho we don't have kids, we prefer the quieter pool and building to the party zone at El Dorado. Seems those visitors did too as they started hanging at the Generations pool for the same reason. Can't wait to get back! Enjoy it all but remember, it's Mexico..go slow and enjoy.

Family friendly with gourmet food
Amazing beach vacation with great food and very nice rooms. A smaller resort feel, with all the amenities we were expecting. We spent 9 days here with our family, three kids under 8. Food: 5/5. The food is the reason we chose this resort. The resort has one buffet (Chefs Market) and three a la carte restaurants which were easy to get into. Meals at the a la carte restaurants are well crafted and delicious. The adjacent adult only restaurants are also amazing. Our favourites for dinner were Wine Kitchen and Habb (family friendly) and Sante Fe and D’italia Casitas (adults only). Lunch and breakfast was best at Palms in Generations. The buffet was really good for breakfast, but somewhat disappointing for lunch and dinner. Beach: Clean white sand, free of rocks and sea weed. Plenty of room for sand castles and lounging. Beach chairs and beds were abundant and clean. Ocean: very rocky. The first 10-15 feet were fun to wade and pay in, but any deeper and you’ll encounter large rocks only traversable with water shoes. Very few guests in the water beyond 15’ off shore due large rocks. Only the most dedicated of ocean swimmers venture out past the rocks. Waves are minimal. Pools: large and clean. Kiddie pool was great for little ones. No slides or kids toys, but the transfer to Aqua Nick met all our water slide needs. Rooms: very large and well equipped. Large sitting area, jacuzzi tub, very comfortable beds, nice swim up patio which was great for the kids never ending swimming desires. Wifi was strong and consistent across the whole resort.

Not ideal for families with younger children, and dinner food quality has gotten worse
This was our second time at Generations. I previously left a very positive review back in January 2022 and said I would come back. After this experience, I am severely disappointed and cannot recommend it, particularly if you are travelling with a young child. We stayed 9 nights with two children aged 2 and 6 this time in January 2025. We travelled with Follow Me benefits (Ruby level) as our friends are members. Below are my thoughts in more detail: Transportation/Customer service: Unfortunately their transfer service is horrific if you are travelling with a young child, and they don’t respect your time at all. I have a two year old. During my pre-arrival experience, we were not asked at all if we needed a car seat. When I previously travelled to a different family friendly resort (Finest Playa Mujeres), this was standard practice. So when we arrived at the airport, we were asked for a car seat voucher. I refuse to travel in a vehicle without a car seat for my two year old - this is a basic safety requirement for me. The transfer company (Lomas) said it would take an hour for a car with a car seat to arrive, and that we need to pay for it. No problem - we will wait and pay - my child’s safety comes first. We waited outside in the heat for an hour. We were told at the 40 minute mark that a car seat was coming in 20 minutes. At the one hour mark, we were suddenly told the car seat was no longer coming, and there would not be one available for the rest of the day. They told us we would need to find a different company for the transfer. This cost us $170+ USD, after wasting an entire hour (but closer to 1.5h) of our vacation. If they had told us up front that there was no car seat available and I had to find a different company, I would not have wasted an hour of my precious vacation time. When I arrived, I made my concerns known. It took a whole week and after a second angry email to even get an apology. No compensation was offered for my lost money, but more upsettingly, for my lost time. Time is the most precious commodity for me, and I felt very devalued by this whole experience. Room: The room is very spacious. We were in the Presidential swim-up suite. Unfortunately we also had to move rooms (from 18211 to 20111) during our stay because a major leak developed from the ceiling. It was very rainy during our stay so I suspect the leak came from that. The bed in 20111 was not in as good shape and I woke up with very stiff muscles in my lower back and legs every morning that I had to massage out. Food: The food on the Generations side has gotten worse since 2022. I only had one good dinner out of the 5 nights eating on the Generations side, and that was our first night at Habb (Indian). Our second night at Habb was awful - to the point that if I were dining at a regular restaurant, I would not have paid. The Chicken 65 appetizer was drowned in vinegar and inedible. The Rogan Josh was exceedingly salty and inedible. The paneer main was underseasoned. The meat in the chicken tikka masala was dry. The only good thing in this meal was the naan. Wine Kitchen was underwhelming and their carpaccio was disappointing (the colour was pale, the meat was underseasoned - I felt like I was just eating deli meat). Jade (Asian) served me a very sad beef curry with chewy dry beef and hardly any sauce which I didn’t end up eating more than a couple of bites. The sashimi was ok. We did the Gala dinner with our friends and we were all disappointed by the quality of the food, although our kids had a wonderful time with the show and running around in the ballroom, so that brightened our mood. The food on the adult only side was still great. Our best meals during this whole trip were at D’Italia (Mediterranean), romantic beach dinner, Santa Fe, and D’Italia Casitas (Italian). Best carpaccio was at the Italian restaurant - even the one at Santa Fe was disappointing. Unfortunately with a young child, in order to go to these restaurants, you need to pay for babysitting which can get quite expensive over time. Room service quality has gone down since 2022. I found the food to be underseasoned or overcooked. My spinach salad didn’t even have any dressing on it. The only people who enjoyed room service were the kids. The one good consistent restaurant was Palms. Delicious breakfasts and lunch, and excellent service. The hostess Mari was fantastic and we always felt welcomed. Alejandro and Israel were our regular servers and were extremely attentive. I really wish they had a take-out option during the day time like a little food taco food truck, or something similar offered through their Market buffet. This would have been so helpful in light of the fact that room service food is terrible. As parents with a young child who needed an afternoon nap, it would have been nice for one parent to go bring food for the other parent watching the little one. Service: Our butlers Luiz and Jose were fantastic. They were the ones who saved our experience from being a complete disaster. I cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us. From helping us coordinate our dinner reservations, helping us order room service, reserving our Bali bed, and getting us to and from dinners (and much much more), they were invaluable to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Kids club/Babysitting service: The ladies were fantastic - my kids both loved going to kids club. Special shout out to Angela who helped me coordinate all my evening babysitting. Sharon and Claudia were also great with my youngest one in the evenings. I felt confident that my children were well cared for. Babysitting is definitely pricey - 550 pesos per hour and if you need babysitting after 9PM, you need to pay 600 pesos for their cab home (since they can’t take the bus). Beach: It’s a pretty small beach as theirs got devastated by a hurricane a few years back. They do keep it very clean from seaweed however. The Bali beds are nice. The beach butler wasn’t very present on our numerous mornings there which made getting a drink or smoothie for my child a bit more work.
