Relaxing two weeks
Lovely hotel, the rooms are spacious the adults only pool is nice and relaxing the beach is lovely and the restaurants are nice, tricky to book into them you do have to keep checking the app and some staff aren’t very friendly but some are lovely! Overall we really enjoyed our two week stay it was relaxing and enjoyable I would recommend this hotel for couples. The white party at the beach is also very good.

Great holiday in a stunning location
Fantastic holiday in a stunning location. The hotel complex is large a comprises of 4 resorts - Bavaro (where we stayed) Punta Cana which is highly geared for families and children having the kids club and facilities based there, Palace (which the US/Canadian holiday companies seem to have the monopoly on) and TRS which is only for the sole use of its own adult guests. No matter which of the other 3 you are staying in you can use all the facilities at all 3 resorts. In my opinion the buffet restaurants for breakfast and evening meal where better at Bavaro and Palace than the punta Cana one which was manic and full of kids -we’re middle age adults and we’ve done our share of those holidays -but hey a great resort if your a family as the kids set up looked amazing. Each resort lobby has a bar and coffee corner with nighttime entertainment again you can enjoy which ever one takes your fancy. Bavaro and palace have a good atmosphere and coffee corner at palace is by far the best one with a much greater assortment of snacks served until early evening. Pools Bavaro pool is a bit tired but the resort is due for renovation next year. Palace has the best pool and William at the pool bar does awesome cocktails - especially “dirty monkeys” 😋 but the adults only pool nestled between TRS and palace is an absolute paradise 👌🏼. Bars & Restaurants Hemingway’s cocktail bar situated near Punta Cana lobby is awesome and had entertainment /dancing later in the evening - great vibe. White party is Thursday evening on the bavaro beach behind the bavaro resort beach restaurant called Arrecife. Lunch is served in the beach buffet restaurants at all 3 resorts - again you can just walk into any. We had good experiences at all the a la cart restaurants and the Tapenyaki and Indian were exceptional. These can be booked via the app once you’ve checked in and have a room number or via any of the guest relations in any of the 3 resort lobby areas 9-5- even if the app says no availability guest relations can often get you a reservation. The sports bar is air conditioned and as food on offer buffet style and also a menu you can order off all included in your AI and is situated across the road from bavaro lobby. Beach The beach is stunning with plenty of shade and if you want a lounger at the front you can move into the sun, go early. The sea is lovely -some days stronger waves than others. Sea weed clean up is well controlled and the beach is stunning . If you walk down the beach, right, towards to jetty in the distance just after a leisurely 12 minute stroll from bavaro you come to some shanti bars and shops including captain cooks and the last bar with white plastic tables and chairs is called mojitos -both these bars are on the beach, serving excellent food and drink at similar prices to the uk and they take Dominican peso or will convert the bill to US dollars or card. The shops sell the usual gifts sunglasses and beach cover ups - 2 for $25 and there’s always room to haggle ! There is a pharmacy in village behind captain cooks restaurant. Beach vendors walk up and down selling their wares but a polite no suffices - I wouldn’t say they approach individual loungers just generally walk the beach- they are locals trying to earn a crust and a treat of sweets or a drink is very much appreciated (we took some mini bags of haribo and skittles from the uk to give out but a drink of coke or beer is also very much appreciated) beach/sea is no good for snorkelling. Sand is white powder sand so beach shoes aren’t required either. Activities such as parasailing and the banana thing are readily available to book on the beach. Rooms Our room was clean and adequate for what we needed with 2 large beds, a sofa bed and whirlpool bath. Decent hairdryer and iron. Air con was fab. Bring mosquito spray for use after about 4pm and bite cream - you will get bit ! The mini bar is stocked daily with lays crisps chocolate and branded pop and presidente beer cans (especially if you leave a $ tip in the fridge 😜. 2 pin flat style American adapters . Room cleaning is a bit haphazard but you are always left with plenty of clean towels so not an issue if one day your room isn’t done- your on holiday , chill 🤷🏻♀️🤣 Your visit Come with an open mind and remember the Dominican culture is laid back - things don’t happen quickly so if it takes 10 minutes to get a beer at busy bar times so what your on holiday 😎. Explore all the pools bars and restaurants the resort as to offer and get the full experience - there is absolutely always entertainment going on somewhere and you can walk, get the resort train or flag down an available buggy to get around. There is a path that runs parallel to the sea making access to all the resorts easy and a nice easy walk. Don’t take any notice of the weather app on your phone in the UK it’s warm and sunny most of the time but you do get the odd shower maybe torrential for 5 minutes then returning to 30 degree heat and blue sky in the drop of a hat 😎 Spa Great relaxing experience - haggle with the price we paid $80 for a 50 minute massage and use of the spa facilities ie sauna stem room, pool, heated bubble pool cold plunge pool and healthy eating bar. The gym is free to use and well stocked. Thank you to Caesar from the concierge team for looking after us - an absolute gentleman 👍

We enjoyed using the gym and going to the sports bar that is open 24/7. We had spacious rooms, beds were Comfortable and clean. We had different cuisine options each night and great coffee in the morning.

Exceeded my expectations
Beautifully landscaped resort with a very nice beach. Food was good but not great. Like many, I read reviews here to better understand this place and wanted to address a few things brought up by other reviews to address or confirm concerns brought up by others. Complaints it's a large complex that requires excessive walking. Yes, it's a large complex as you have access to the sister resorts within the larger complex. The benefit of course is you can access the plentiful pools, restaurants, bars etc. It takes a day to figure out your bearings but it's not unreasonable and the amount of walking isn't either. Most of the people I saw while there could use the extra walking anyway. Many comments noted that the resort is "outdated" and "not a 5-star resort." To be honest you'd be a fool in thinking it's a 5-star resort based on the price. It's certainly outdated, and renovations are underway already, but that's built into the price. Personally, I didn't choose this resort for the refinement of the rooms as I didn't expect to spend much time there anyway. The food in the a la carte restaurants ranged from quite good to poor. This is probably quite random as the restaurants I felt were poor are raved about by other commenters and vice-versa. Less than ideal but if you receive something you don't like you can always order something else...it IS an all-inclusive anyway. In the buffets, I will agree that unmarked food is obnoxious. Many things are obvious but others it's not quite clear what the food it. This SHOULD be an easy fix. For the a la carte restaurants, many people complained that getting a reservation was difficult. I had no such issue. I spoke to the concierge ahead of time to book a restaurant for my first night and then used the app to book the rest. The app is a bit buggy but nothing that prevented locking in reservations every other night with little issue. Many commented that workers didn't speak good English. Well...you're in a Spanish-speaking country, maybe brushing up on your Spanish would be a good idea. While some individual workers struggled with English, most had little issue understanding what was intended with some gestures. Failing that, other workers or guests were always willing to help out with a key word or concept lost in translation. Smoking -- yeah people smoke seemingly anywhere they like. It's surprising that in the 21st century so many people still partake in this nasty habit. While my room didn't smell of smoke, it was something I considered when finding a spot at the pool/beach so me and my kids didn't need to be near it. The drinks were generally unsophisticated, and usually far too sweet at the pool bars. This just meant I couldn't expect the bartender to make a rum punch without guidance or it might be unpalatable. The Hemingway bar on the other hand was quite fantastic with their cocktails and Cuban themed music. I would highly recommend heading there to start or end your evenings. In summary, my trip was good but not great. However, this was intended as a more lowkey venture and I wasn't looking for expensive luxury. A mid-tier resort at a bargain basement price was what I envisioned and exactly what I received.

December trip
We stayed in building 19 with a rooftop spa. The room was great. The staff were absolutely amazing. Kaleb and Felipe were the best! Food was good at some places and just so so at others but we weren’t there to eat. Enjoy the beautiful beach and the service, relax and have a great time like we did.
