Dec 11, 2024Mostly Good With Some Areas For Improvement
I travelled to the Grand Palladium Punta Cana with friends and we stayed in the 3000 block building in a ground floor suite with 2 double bed and a pull out couch. Sound proofing in the room was really impressive and the staff were excellent at making up the rooms on request. The mattresses on the beds were really great by my standards. They were soft and yielding while also being firm and not saggy. However, the mattress on the pull out couch was not great. My friend who slept on it didn't have a pleasant time doing so. The back patio for the room gave a wonderful view of the impeccably manicured grounds and overall space in the unit was ample. I found the air conditioning kept the room perfectly cool and comfortable going down to a minimum of about 22C or 72F and the ceiling fan was a plus. The downside of the room was that the bath tub and the glass door that divided it from the bedroom had mildew issues that caused the entire room to constantly smell and that would be one factor to make me hesitate to consider returning. Hand soap was not provided at the bathroom sink so bring some with you. Be warned that if you're travelling with friends, the frosted glass shower door is very revealing and you'll know your friends much more intimately by the end of your stay. Overall I'd say the design for the bathrooms is flawed because of the glass doors. I found the pools, bars, nightlife, and restaurants to all be adequate. The food and drinks won't blow your mind but they're perfectly acceptable. Hemmingway Bar definitely had the best drinks. Service was hit and miss but mostly hit at bars, restaurants, and guest services. Most go the extra distance to be great and a few seem to hate their jobs and let it show. They're definitely nicer if you make the attempt to speak Spanish and if you're willing to tip (both of which I did). There were some language barrier issues here and there when I tried to speak English but I understand that as it's not an English speaking country and many tried their best. The beach and ocean were fantastic. The downside there is you will be approached pretty much constantly on the beach by people trying to sell excursions, overpriced bracelets, cigars, and photos with exotic animals. I found I wasn't bothered much when I was alone but it was never ending when I was with my female companions. I get that it's important for their bottom line to sell sell sell but I'd appreciate it so much more if they had booths set up that I can avoid or patronize as I choose rather than having the sellers meandering around and making it impossible to get an extended period of peace. My travel companions wanted to play in the casino and visit the spa but decided to do neither when they saw the exorbitant prices for those extras. So if you like to do those things, make sure to have a very generous travel budget. Overall I'd say visit this resort but keep your expectations in check and be prepared to deal with some mildew issues.

I would highly recommend this resort despite the bad reviews. I get that everyone has an opinion, but this place is wonderful. The grounds are immaculately maintained and are beautiful. While there are some food items that may be less appetizing than others, this is a small island that's is not the US or Europe so things are a little different than what most may be accustomed to however, there are plenty of options. It is next to impossible to not be able to find something you like. The staff were all very hospitable and we never seemed to want for anything. Be assured that this is not the Ritz Carlton or a super exclusive Resort, but it comes with a far lower price tag so I suggest adjusting your expectations accordingly. We can't wait to return and will probably bring the entire family next time.

Excellent
Amazing hotel and Hemingway’s bar and staff are amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Drinks flowing , service is great and always great entertainment and good vibes. Highly recommend a visit to this bar and staff !! Ask for Joselo and you’ll be well looked after !!

Fun!
This bar was great. My husband and I had the best espresso martinis of our trip! Joselo was the best. :) we had great experiences with Youanx, Raisa, Mauris, & Dalby! Thank you!!! We also were happy that there was a party night at this location — we didn’t know and we were pleasantly surprised!

Upgraded family room are total trash . The water service was not working for entire day and then when it rained into the bathroom ceiling, one of us slipped and fell.
