Situated on the Riviera Maya, just an hour away to the South of the airport at Cancun, and 32 km from Playa del Carmen. Sep 26, 2026Friendly local staff and lovely spa ruined by severe safety and security failures
We paid £8,172.99 for a 5-star family holiday at Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya through TUI, but the experience was completely overshadowed by unacceptable safety and maintenance issues. To give credit where it’s due, the local hotel staff and waiters were brilliant and incredibly hard-working, and the spa facility was lovely. However, the physical resort and security fell drastically short: Maintenance & Beach: The swimming pools are in desperate need of proper maintenance, and the beach area was heavily covered in seaweed. Severe Security Failure: Unauthorised drug dealers were operating freely across the resort grounds, sitting at bars and eating alongside local staff helping them self to the all inclusive. Throughout the day, dealers were constantly shouting, "You want coke? I got it for you," along with pushing weed, vapes, and cigars—directly in front of my 9-year-old daughter. We logged this on-site with management, but zero security action was taken to clear unauthorised individuals from guest areas how can this be acceptable when you go through security at the main gate but at the rear to the beach they are just allowed to walk in? We have documented this with photographic evidence. TUI's post-holiday response has been equally poor, dismissing serious duty-of-care failures with automated template replies. While the frontline local staff work hard, the resort fails completely as a secure 5-star environment for families.

The resort was beautiful! So much lush forest and a gorgeous beach. The food restaurants are fantastic. CARNAL is a Blast. The staeks were cooked to perfection. Do not miss any of the restaurants. The concierge staff are so friendly and helpful and great to talk to. The rooms are incredible and HUUGE! Loved our Giant Jacuzzi bathtub! IT is a perfect place to chill and relax or party . Amazing

Grand Sirenis great stay
Lovely hotel, staff very friendly, check in was seamless. Room Clean and was cleaned every day. Concierge on site very helpful Pedro P 11161. Restaurants on site catered to all tastes. Book as early as possible for speciality restaurants. Excursions from hotel were easy to book on site or online. The hotel site covers a huge area however can honestly say it was spotless throughout. Do not take snacks in your bag to pool as the wildlife are able to open and extract. Wear mosquito redolent every day if you ask concierge they will give you some.
