Nice relaxing week in the sun Jan/Feb 25
Really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya resort. Stayed for a week at the end of Jan into Feb 2025. Weather was ace 28°/29° all week with very little cloud, rain shower on last day but didn’t last long. Rooms were spacious with two double beds, would have preferred a king size bed, they gave us the option to upgrade on arrival but we just kept the two doubles. Room was clean with an extra sofa bed and balcony area. Air-con in the room didn’t work very well, the ceiling fan cooled the room better. Bathroom was large with a whirlpool bath and walk in shower with rainfall head and standard shower head. Some fixtures were a bit loose like the room needed a little tlc The main all inclusive buffet space was nice and modern with plenty seating areas. There wasn’t a massive selection compared to other resorts I’ve stayed but I didn’t go hungry. I did find the breakfast items such as poached eggs were a bit cold unless you asked for freshly cooked. Struggled to book any restaurants for meals and only got one booked for the whole week despite the concierge saying the resort was quiet. Hotel had a lovely beach area and couple of pools to choose from. Would recommend staying here and would go again

Asuncion (Oscar) was amazing.
The resort provides excellent food especially great service at the bayou breakfast bar from Asuncion! Beach service was excellent even when we didn’t tip. Bbq on beach was exceptional- steak huge prawns etc. Great variety of fruit. My only concern were the bites I got when laying on the sofa in our room. Told mgmt, they said they wanted to fumigate but didn’t follow through. 2 nd year I’ve been here and I’d come back again.

Distinctly average
I have just returned from Grand Sirenis after a 10 night trip which had been booked through Tui. Overall summary We had a lovely holiday with beautiful weather and don't necessarily regret booking this hotel. I am, however, shocked by the number of 5 star reviews when we aren't fussy and found it average at best. This is the first time I have not booked a Rui hotel (I know what I am getting with them) and to be honest, I will be going back to Rui. Grounds The grounds do deserve a 5 star review. They are absolutely beautiful and are maintained well. I am an animal lover and seeing the monkeys on a morning and the cheeky coatis stealing food was an absolute highlight. We used all 3 available pools, though spent more time at the relaxing pool. The other pools could be repetitive in terms of music but I did enjoy them all. The towel stations, quick food access and bars were all within a short distance of each pool. Food This was the most disappointing thing for me and what shocks me the most about other peoples reviews. I have only seen one other recent comment that mentions lukewarm food and that was the biggest take for me. Everything is lukewarm. I barely ate hot food the whole time I was away. We used the main eating area for the majority of the time. Unless the food was cooked by the chefs while you were waiting then it was not hot. It became a standing joke while walking to get food, "I wonder what lukewarm food we will have for this meal". More concerning was that I had raw food on at least 2 occasions that I can recall which was chicken and fish. This is repeated throughout the poolside eating areas and into the restaurants that we tried (Italian and Seafood). Restaurant booking was a nuisance with the App only working for the first couple of days. We tried to get further appointments via the concierge but he wasn't able to help and then tried to sell us membership to GrandSirenis ULC. Antonino's (Italian) was lukewarm, I had the lasagne and it was edible. My husband has the meatballs and it had the texture of rubber and tasted like feet. The lemon tart was delicious. Service This varied a lot throughout the hotel. The best staff were the waitresses that covered the relaxing pool area, they were so helpful and always willing to grab a drink. The waiters in the restaurants were also fantastic. The wait staff in the main eating area varied, on some occasions you couldn't get a drink, while on others they couldn't do enough for you. Overall, the more you tip the more likely you are to be able to get a drink. Room The size of the room and bathroom is great and the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. There was also a good selection of things to watch on tv. However, like many other reviews have mentioned there was a smell of damp. I did notice that a lot of people around the hotel were unwell, coughing, sneezing etc. By day 9 we both had stinking colds, now this could be generally germs going around (certainly not the hotels fault) but I also whether this could been have contributed to by the damp? The cleaners did an OK job but on one occasion no towels were replaced and on 2 occasions we had to ask for the "mini bar" to be refilled as this hasn't been done. Please note that the mini bar is simply 2 cans of beer, a selection of soft drinks and bottles of water Tips for visitors There is a shop a 2 min walk from the front entrance. The prices in there are significantly cheaper than the shop in the hotel and is worth the short walk

Butchers Smoke & Grill restaurant
Attended Butchers - Mario Bremant was a fabulous server. Out of all the restaurants on the complex this experience had been by far the best. Attentive, nothing was a problem (even my food allergies) always topping drinks and ensuring the food was good.
