    Grotto Bay is excellent

Just back from our second visit to Grotto Bay and it was just as good as we remembered. The location is excellent if you like snorkelling, with large numbers of fish within feet of the sandy beach and more secluded spots easily accessible by bus or taxi. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, and the 3 restaurants serve great food. We had an ocean front room which I would highly recommend. The all-inclusive package was worth it for us - the Hibiscus restaurant was our favourite and we pre-booked it every night. The bus & ferry passes included in this package make sight-seeing easy and enjoyable so we used them a lot.

    Great stay at Grotto Bay

Recently returned from Grotto Bay. It's been a few years since we were in Bermuda and had forgotten what a lovely place it is. It was our 1st time at Grotto Bay and overall, it was a great experience. We were in a top floor ocean view room in Sandys Lodge. We liked that the elevation gave us a great vantage point of the area. The nearby airport was not a noise issue and was actually a reasonable taxi ride ... you could also take the bus. There are feral chickens/roosters and a few cats around but aren't a problem. Since we don't eat 3 meals a day and didn't want to drink alcohol all day, we opted for the MAP (Modified American plan $92/day) which offers breakfast & dinner but no alcohol vs AI (All inclusive $139/day) 3 meals, alcohol, bus pass, non-motor water sports. Great deal if you like day drinking and lunch. We opted to take the bus into St. George and bought juice and a bottle of rum. (*** I should have bought rum at the airport before exiting as it is duty free vs $45 for Bacardi... Bermuda is expensive overall). Breakfast was great with plenty of options. Dinner was upscale. They have standard menu options with additional daily specials. I was told they have plenty of gluten free options - can prepare many menu items GF. It was nice having onsite restaurants, so we didn't have to figure out where to go and how to get there. We treated ourselves to a massage in the spa. Fabulous experience! The only real glitch was when we never received a room amenity our daughters sent. They made only one attempt to deliver it to our room. They did provide a refund. We found the staff to be kind and helpful. We would recommend Grotto Bay.

    Absolute Paradise

I would like to start off by saying thank you to Ashley Grant, who made our vacation the best ever! She helped me since last October, when I inquired about our trip. Throughout the year, she always quickly responded to all my emails and helped make changes we made (extending ours days, etc.). Ashley absolutely went way above and beyond, when we arrived and had an issue with our rooms (no need to go into detail). There were six of us, each couple in a room, and she accommodated each of us. It was exceptional customer service!! Check-in was so smooth. Thank you Tyree for also giving great service. We even arrived before check- in time with no issues. Lunch at the Bayside Grill was always my favorite place throughout the trip. We never had to wait for service and they always brought us water, drinks and our order with no wait. The food was delicious. The bar staff were always attentive and friendly. We all chose the all-inclusive plan, which is really the way to go. The food is pricey, so if you like to drink as well, go with the AIP. Each bar has plenty of choices to pick from. The breakfast buffet had plenty to pick from. They would rotate with pancakes one day and a stuffed French toast the next. Dinner had great options. Even though I alternated between Palm Court and the Hibiscus restaurant, you can order from either one when you are seated. We always chose to eat outside. Thank you Veronica for always having our table ready. You are truly a very hard worker. All the staff work very hard and always gave great service. The Thursday night bbq was so cool! Grilled lobster tails, steak, killer ribs and chicken…what else could you ask for. Also, plenty of options including shrimp. I loved that the AIP included free bus and ferry passes. We booked swimming with dolphins at the dockyard. We took the bus into Hamilton and then the ferry to the dockyard. A really fun ride. We also did shopping in Hamilton and in St, George’s. The new Panorama Lounge is really nice. There was entertainment up there and a very relaxing atmosphere. All the new additions on the resort are beautiful. Thank you Peter and David, managers, for asking about our stay and being concerned about any issues we might have had. Some of our group swam in the grotto, which was awesome. Tfe pool and ocean water was between 80-85…just my temperature! The pink sand was spectacular. They expanded the beach area, so we had plenty of seats. There are floats in the water to sunbath on too. We were there for nine days and just returned home on Saturday, 9/19. The weather was perfect! I am soooo ready to book for next year. Thanks everyone!!!!

    Wow what an experience

We visited Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa for an 80-minute couples massage in the cave with Pam and Lisa, and it was absolutely fantastic. The setting alone is something special, but Pam and Lisa made the experience even better. Having a massage surrounded by the natural beauty and atmosphere of the cave was truly unforgettable. After our massages, we were able to go for a swim in the cave, which was an experience all its own. We then enjoyed lunch at the resort and spent a little time relaxing on the beach before heading out. We were not staying at Grotto Bay and were only visiting for our spa appointment, but from the moment we arrived, we felt completely welcome. Everyone we encountered was friendly and made us feel like we were resort guests for the day. Between the cave massage, swimming in the cave, lunch, and a little Bermuda beach time, it turned into much more than just a spa appointment. It was one of those experiences that will stick with us long after the trip is over. And don’t be surprised 😮 if this experience somehow finds its way into a future book in the Uncharted Horizons series!

    Fabulous Experience

I was worried with the mixed reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. We went Labor Day week and crowds diminished kids were back to school. LOCATION- literally right over the bridge from airport and barely heard the planes. The flight path is the other way taking off so only saw a few planes arriving. Close to St George’s. ROOMS- clean and comfortable- almost all have an awesome view. Never had an issue with housekeeping or supplies or bugs of any kind. STAFF - Majority were very friendly but you always have a few who are not but that’s life! Never rude and never had an issue. We took time to talk to them. Be friendly; it goes a long way. Wish I got names to give shout outs. FOOD- everything was excellent. They do not skimp. If you have allergies or diet restrictions just ask they will help you. If you are picky you can preview menus online. Menus remain same except for chefs special and fish of the day. CAVE- super cool. Cold water but fun. BEACH/POOL- towels run out because people hoard them. We only saw them run out once and within 30 mins more were there. Again no large families and kids. I didn’t come to Bermuda for a pool so can’t speak on that but looked nice enough. Chairs take a beaten- left in water- dragged all over - kids- weather. They are fine, you are lying in a towel. Plenty of chairs - some saving but again not crowded. Never had an issue. Beach is decent size and multi layers of seating. Each has floating circles they you can chill in water with. You can snorkel and see sunken ship. The hot tub is smaller but not my thing. GYM- I think it’s comparable to most resort gyms I have seen. Not spending hours in there just a quick workout to get it in and that’s it. NIGHTLIFE- live music at night on deck MEAL PLANS/ALL INCLUSIVE - Depends on your wants/needs. Weigh the options; I think it was worth it even though I don’t eat or drink a lot. I could get whatever I wanted. Used bus/ferry to explore island. Used water sports- Food/drinks are expensive. Do the math and homework! 1- How much touring (bus/ferry) will you use vs. buying a day or two pass. Pricing available online. 2- How much do you plan on drinking - soda- alcohol or even non alcohol cocktails. 3- Do you eat 3 full meals or can you skip lunch? Do you want to explore restaurants on island? 4- Do you want to kayak, paddle board, take a hobbie cat out? Blue hole sport prices are online. MISC -Roosters do crow early and tree frogs are loud. Use sound machine so never heard anything. -Brought suction cups and binder clips to cover door window and keep drapes closed. -Stairs- LOTS of stairs to and from beach and buildings and lobby/restaurants. Resort built on a large hill. There’s a way to walk up and down on pavement without steps but still hilly. So those with walking issues or not in good shape will have difficulty. -beautiful sunrises clearly visible - changing room requires reservation and key. It’s was clean and does the job. I would definitely return, enjoyed the resort -staff - other guests- location- atmosphere - food.
