  Lovely week here but the place needs a good clean

  Just had a week here with friends for some winter sun. Pros: Food very nice, lots of choice. Waiting staff in restaurants all lovely and attentive: special thanks to David and Michael for their good humour & smiles. Free travel pass on all inclusive plan. Comfy bed. Cons: Main building has been refurbished but the bedrooms are well below par and grubby. Dirty grout / skirtings / sealant. Loud aircon. Sheets not changed all week. Bedroom not serviced at all twice during the week - had to go find toilet roll and leave a note asking for shower gel. Communal areas like corridors, pool area, pool bar / restaurant and beech area need cleaning - no one did this - it’s dirty, really dirty. Chicken poo everywhere, pool floor filthy with so much sand in it. Gardens not tended to, palms left with dead fronds, loads on the ground too. Cigarette butts, used glasses and more on the floor. Bar staff at pool bar unattentive and grumpy - face the customer, smile and take your AirPods out!!! Where are the managers?

  Bad Vibes

  Just getting around to putting together some thoughts about our August 2026 visit. I'm not happy to give a bad review but feel others should know what they are getting. You can even read LBNORWAY1234's review below, we experienced the same bad service and long waits and general malaise from the staff. The pool/beach ran out of towels twice during our stay. The beach was never cleaned or straightened up during our stay. The rooms had a weird rattan type mat on the floor that I assume they never clean since our feet were black on the bottom from walking on them without shoes. Because the hotel is on a hilly area and made up of many outer buildings, some are closer to the lobby/restaurants area than others, and ours was the furthest with SO MANY STAIRS to traverse going to and from every area. One day our party of 8 was ordering lunch by the pool and I decided to only get a fruit cup. I had to ask multiple times when it may arrive, only to get it when our entire party was finished with their lunch. It was a fruit cup! I will say all the food we had in the three restaurants was very good. Chatted with June Ann, who is apparantly a local treasure, but even she couldn't save the bad vibe of this place, and too bad, because it is a lovely spot. There's more but you get the idea.

  Grotto Bay is excellent

  Just back from our second visit to Grotto Bay and it was just as good as we remembered. The location is excellent if you like snorkelling, with large numbers of fish within feet of the sandy beach and more secluded spots easily accessible by bus or taxi. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, and the 3 restaurants serve great food. We had an ocean front room which I would highly recommend. The all-inclusive package was worth it for us - the Hibiscus restaurant was our favourite and we pre-booked it every night. The bus & ferry passes included in this package make sight-seeing easy and enjoyable so we used them a lot.

  Great stay at Grotto Bay

  Recently returned from Grotto Bay. It's been a few years since we were in Bermuda and had forgotten what a lovely place it is. It was our 1st time at Grotto Bay and overall, it was a great experience. We were in a top floor ocean view room in Sandys Lodge. We liked that the elevation gave us a great vantage point of the area. The nearby airport was not a noise issue and was actually a reasonable taxi ride ... you could also take the bus. There are feral chickens/roosters and a few cats around but aren't a problem. Since we don't eat 3 meals a day and didn't want to drink alcohol all day, we opted for the MAP (Modified American plan $92/day) which offers breakfast & dinner but no alcohol vs AI (All inclusive $139/day) 3 meals, alcohol, bus pass, non-motor water sports. Great deal if you like day drinking and lunch. We opted to take the bus into St. George and bought juice and a bottle of rum. (*** I should have bought rum at the airport before exiting as it is duty free vs $45 for Bacardi... Bermuda is expensive overall). Breakfast was great with plenty of options. Dinner was upscale. They have standard menu options with additional daily specials. I was told they have plenty of gluten free options - can prepare many menu items GF. It was nice having onsite restaurants, so we didn't have to figure out where to go and how to get there. We treated ourselves to a massage in the spa. Fabulous experience! The only real glitch was when we never received a room amenity our daughters sent. They made only one attempt to deliver it to our room. They did provide a refund. We found the staff to be kind and helpful. We would recommend Grotto Bay.

  Absolute Paradise

  I would like to start off by saying thank you to Ashley Grant, who made our vacation the best ever! She helped me since last October, when I inquired about our trip. Throughout the year, she always quickly responded to all my emails and helped make changes we made (extending ours days, etc.). Ashley absolutely went way above and beyond, when we arrived and had an issue with our rooms (no need to go into detail). There were six of us, each couple in a room, and she accommodated each of us. It was exceptional customer service!! Check-in was so smooth. Thank you Tyree for also giving great service. We even arrived before check- in time with no issues. Lunch at the Bayside Grill was always my favorite place throughout the trip. We never had to wait for service and they always brought us water, drinks and our order with no wait. The food was delicious. The bar staff were always attentive and friendly. We all chose the all-inclusive plan, which is really the way to go. The food is pricey, so if you like to drink as well, go with the AIP. Each bar has plenty of choices to pick from. The breakfast buffet had plenty to pick from. They would rotate with pancakes one day and a stuffed French toast the next. Dinner had great options. Even though I alternated between Palm Court and the Hibiscus restaurant, you can order from either one when you are seated. We always chose to eat outside. Thank you Veronica for always having our table ready. You are truly a very hard worker. All the staff work very hard and always gave great service. The Thursday night bbq was so cool! Grilled lobster tails, steak, killer ribs and chicken…what else could you ask for. Also, plenty of options including shrimp. I loved that the AIP included free bus and ferry passes. We booked swimming with dolphins at the dockyard. We took the bus into Hamilton and then the ferry to the dockyard. A really fun ride. We also did shopping in Hamilton and in St, George’s. The new Panorama Lounge is really nice. There was entertainment up there and a very relaxing atmosphere. All the new additions on the resort are beautiful. Thank you Peter and David, managers, for asking about our stay and being concerned about any issues we might have had. Some of our group swam in the grotto, which was awesome. Tfe pool and ocean water was between 80-85…just my temperature! The pink sand was spectacular. They expanded the beach area, so we had plenty of seats. There are floats in the water to sunbath on too. We were there for nine days and just returned home on Saturday, 9/19. The weather was perfect! I am soooo ready to book for next year. Thanks everyone!!!!
