Truly Disappointing Customer Service
As a business owner, I rarely write negative reviews. In fact, I much prefer speaking directly with management to resolve concerns than posting them publicly. Unfortunately, Hidden Beach's management would neither meet with me nor speak with me directly, so I feel compelled to share our experience. My wife and I booked a last-minute trip to Playa del Carmen to celebrate her best friend's birthday. We stayed at Impressions Moxché, which is a lovely property. I have been a member of the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) for nearly 20 years. During that time, we have visited most of the premier au naturel resorts in the Caribbean, including Grand Lido, Hedonism, The Natural Curaçao, and all of the Couples Resorts in Jamaica. We also frequent Haulover Beach in Miami, have visited Cap d'Agde in the south of France, and have enjoyed au naturel beaches in more than a dozen countries. Hidden Beach has long been on our travel list and I was excited at the prospect to visit it first hand. Three hour flight to a new nude beach! In fact, we were considering spending ten days there over the Christmas holidays. Before committing nearly $10,000 for a suite, however, we wanted to experience the property firsthand and evaluate the service, standards, and overall atmosphere. Hidden Beach appears to be one of the most expensive au naturel resorts in the Caribbean—perhaps even the world. That premium pricing makes it even more important for prospective guests to feel confident in their decision, especially considering much of the Riviera Maya coastline has been impacted by persistent sargassum, making many beaches unswimmable and creating unpleasant conditions when it accumulates. Before driving to the resort, I found information online, including on TripAdvisor, indicating that day passes were available. Here are the links. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g21410690-d288383-r269414066-Hidden_Beach_Au_Naturel_Resort-El_Dorado_Solidaridad_Yucatan_Peninsula.html https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g21410690-d288383-r510805128-Hidden_Beach_Au_Naturel_Resort-El_Dorado_Solidaridad_Yucatan_Peninsula.html We attempted to call the property several times for confirmation, but no one answered. Based on the links above, we drove approximately 40 minutes to Hidden Beach. Upon arrival, the gate attendant, who spoke very little English, after 10 minutes, connected me by phone with someone inside the resort. I was immediately told that day passes were not available. I explained that multiple online sources suggested otherwise and asked why we would have driven all that way if that information were incorrect. I asked him to google "Hidden Beach Day Passes." The representative said they would ask a manager whether we could simply tour the property. We were then told that Hidden Beach is a secure resort and that no visitors are permitted. I asked to speak with the manager and was denied as well. Trying to find another solution, I offered to book and pay for a one-night stay so we could experience the resort before committing to a much longer and significantly more expensive Christmas vacation. That request was also denied. I then asked for the nightly rate, which was approximately $500. I agreed to pay it, only to be told that I could not book at the front desk and instead had to make the reservation online. After decades of international travel, I have never encountered a hotel that refused to rent an available room to a guest standing at the front gate with valid identification and an American Express Platinum Card in hand. It was baffling. The property may have a charming, rustic ambiance, but exceptional customer service should accompany a luxury price point. Instead, we experienced poor communication, inaccurate information, inflexible policies, and a complete lack of hospitality toward prospective guests who were genuinely interested in becoming long-term customers. We left disappointed and ultimately decided that Hidden Beach is no longer on our list for a future vacation. When a resort cannot accommodate a prospective guest who is ready and willing to spend thousands of dollars, it raises serious concerns about how it values its customers. For us, the combination of misinformation and poor customer service was a deal breaker.

Why We've Returned to Hidden Beach Every Year for the Last Decade
Every year when it's time to plan our vacations, we look at new destinations, new resorts, and new experiences. And every year, we end up returning to Hidden Beach. After ten years of visits, including two weeks annually as Exotic Travelers Club members, I think I finally understand why. Hidden Beach offers something that has become increasingly difficult to find in modern travel: peace. Our first visit was also my first experience at a clothing-optional resort. I arrived curious but uncertain. Within the first few hours, I realized that Hidden Beach wasn't about nudity—it was about freedom from judgment, freedom from stress, and freedom from the constant demands of everyday life. For anyone considering a first naturist vacation, that's probably the most important thing to know. The atmosphere is respectful, welcoming, and remarkably comfortable. The resort itself is very small by Riviera Maya standards, with approximately 42 rooms. That may sound limiting, but it's one of Hidden Beach's greatest strengths. There are no crowds. There are no long waits. There is no competition for beach chairs. There is no feeling of being one guest among thousands. Instead, the staff gets to know you. Team members like Noel, Isia, and Arnulfo create the kind of personalized service that larger resorts simply cannot match. Many employees have spent years—sometimes decades—with the property, and that experience shows. Our typical day starts with breakfast overlooking the ocean, followed by hours spent relaxing beneath a palapa listening to the waves. Other guests enjoy the swim-up pool, pool bar, organized activities, and famous water volleyball games. There is enough activity available for those who want it but never pressure to participate. One of my favorite aspects of Hidden Beach is that it allows you to vacation at your own pace. Hungry? Food is available virtually around the clock. Need a drink? Service is attentive without being intrusive. Ready to relax? The beach is steps away. Ready for bed? The rooms are clean, comfortable, quiet, and cool. Speaking of accommodations, prospective guests should know that Hidden Beach is not the newest resort in the region. If your priority is ultra-modern architecture and trendy design, there are certainly newer properties available. But if your definition of luxury includes personalized service, privacy, comfort, and genuine hospitality, Hidden Beach excels. A highlight of every visit is the candlelight dinner experience. Whether arranged on the beach, beneath a palapa, or outside a swim-up suite, it consistently ranks among the most romantic experiences we've enjoyed anywhere in our travels. The attention to detail, timing, presentation, and service are exceptional. Who is Hidden Beach ideal for? • Couples looking to reconnect. • First-time naturists seeking a safe and welcoming environment. • Experienced naturists who value community and respect. • Travelers who prioritize relaxation over crowds and noise. • Guests who appreciate personalized service. Who may prefer another resort? • Travelers looking for a large party atmosphere. • Guests seeking a mega-resort experience. • Visitors who want constant nightlife and entertainment. For us, Hidden Beach has become more than a vacation destination. It's our annual opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and remember what relaxation feels like. After ten years, I always sad to leave and wish I had booked a few extra days. That's probably the best review I can give. p.s - I don't have photos... that's not what this experience is about for me!

Excellent as always with a special touch!
HBR is a very special place. The “special” is due to many reasons - most importantly are the staff and the guests. The staff is extremely professional, attentive, gracious, and always have a smile on their faces all day, every day. From the time you walk into reception and see Ula and Ele, you know you’re home! Anything you need, want and even what you don’t know you need or want, they will get and/or do for you! Then there are the day and night service and bar staff. They all deserve accolades and while I can’t mention all, I would like to highlight at least some that we have come to consider family over the years - Yesenia (day Maître d’ who has her eyes on everything); day servers Aniceto, Noel, Arnulfo, Angel; day bartenders Nathanial and Esperanza, who are just amazing!!; our special night time server Jesus, Sr. Alberto who works the bar, and David who is at the night club as long as there are guests! Then there are the guests! HBR is a small adults only hotel (43 rooms) to which some guests having been going every year for many years! There are not many hotels that can make that claim! It is hard to explain why to someone who has never been, but I think it is because people are always smiling, are truly interested in meeting you and getting to know you, and start every day by saying good morning to everyone - how can that not make you feel good? And then, there is volleyball, but that has to be experienced too! Every visit is wonderful, but this last visit was truly special due to Brandon, a young man who is, I believe, the Food & Beverage Assistant Manager. Brandon invited us to VIP service at two extraordinary events that took place in the huge plaza of the El Dorado Palms just outside the doors to HBR. We had a front row table for 2 events - a fire show and a Mexican fiesta. Our dinner was lovely and our servers, Gerardo, Víctor, and Marcially, made the evenings even more special! Thank you Brandon!!

Always a Pleasure to Come Back
We have stayed at this hotel for the third time, and once again it was a wonderful experience. We really love this place and can highly recommend it to everyone. The people here are incredibly nice, friendly, and welcoming. The whole atmosphere is very open and relaxed, and we always feel so comfortable during our stay. It truly feels like a home away from home. There is no beach directly at the hotel, but you can easily go to the neighboring resort, which is just next door. We are already looking forward to coming back again! 😊
