Dec 12, 2025Worth the Stay, Dennis the Star, small areas to improve.
We stayed in one of the Whirlpool bathroom rooms here at Royalton Hideaway, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment, I will give our review over bullet points, but I wanted to give detailed attention to our assigned Butler (we did not know we got a butler), Dennis. What a thoughtful and caring person he is, who throughout our stay went above and beyond for us, acquiring us reservations to some of the on-site restaurants and private Dinners, as well as painstakingly decorating our room for our honeymoon and caring about our experience. In a 5* restaurant, it says a lot that Dennis was without doubt, the highlight of our stay! Now, general stay bullet points: Pros: - Dennis - Lovely staff throughout - Helpful Tui Rep - Really felt valued and money well spent - Varied dinner options, and all that we tried were above what you would expect of an all-inclusive stay Cons: - Not the quietest place despite the "Hideaway" name, there's usually an air of pressure to take part in the VibeTeam activities that cover the whole resort. - Whirlpool bath maybe wasn't worth the extra investment - Certain areas of the resort don't feel fleshed out, sometimes giving a feeling of "trying too much" as opposed to mastering few areas, although this is negligible.

The amazing service Christin provided
We just returned home from our amazing trip to the DR and the highlight of our stay at the Royalton was definitely our Butler Christian. We had 13 people in our group and Christian took care of all but two. He was very attentive and he worked with the other Butler to ensure that we were able to dine together, that our luggage was prepared to go on time as we were ready to depart, and he provided service with a smile each and every day. If it weren’t for Christian, I’m not sure I would be as satisfied as I was with my trip. We ran into some hiccups with the excursions and although Christian was not responsible, he still did his best to make sure that we were taken care of. If I were to ever return to this property, I would request that Christian is our butler. He certainly deserves a raise!!

Not the best resort. My friends who traveled with us had black mold in their curtains. Our shower door didn't hold in a lot of water, it made it run on the floor. Seems to me the rooms could use a few updates. Also, if there's people in the hallways yelling at 2AM, you will hear them. The lock on our patio door was hanging on by a thread. Our butler seemed more worried about getting extra reviews than his colleague than actually doing his job. A lot of talk with no action. Asked for a different pillow, but never got one. Although he was friendly, I don't feel like he went above and beyond the bare minimum. Called for room service that never showed up. Most of the food was bland, with the exception of the hibachi grill. Although the steak they cooked was very tough. Their cooks tried to act fun, but after a while they got annoying. At other restaurants, often times you don't get what you ordered because the staff doesn't understand English or they just don't care. If you arrive late at night, I don't recommend going to the buffet. You could tell the food was sitting out all day. Also got scammed out of $20 while on the beach, which was my fault. The guy had a parrot and I didn't even think to turn him down when he offered to put the parrot on my shoulder for a picture. Got caught up in the moment. Be sure to tell anyone who walks up to you that you don't have any money and they will leave you alone, for the most part. Although my friend was approached by a lady on the beach about getting a pedicure and he told her no, but she wouldn't seem to take no for an answer. The drinks were OK. However, some of the servers didn't seem to understand your order if you didn't order something exactly as it was listed on their menu. It also appeared like some of the fruit they used to make the drinks had mold on them. Beach and weather is gorgeous. Pool was also nice to lounge around. All in all, not the best resort I've visited. 2 of my friends got sick during our visit. I wouldn't recommend to someone I like. Especially those traveling with children.

Dec 12, 2025Spent most days relaxing by the hideaway pool and bar. It was close and easy to get to the beach!
Pool was clean and had easy access to the bar and beach. Had a different place to choose from every night to eat at. Our butler made sure we had reservations for each night. The white party and fire show was fun.
