  Get the swim out!!

  We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Royalton Hideaway and truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly helpful, polite, cheerful, and welcoming. Everyone we interacted with made us feel well taken care of. Our room was amazing—we stayed in a swim-out room, which was definitely one of our favourite parts of the stay. It was beautiful, comfortable, and made relaxing even more enjoyable. There was also something for everyone when it came to food. The buffet had a huge variety of options, and we really enjoyed the restaurants as well. Having a butler made making restaurant reservations incredibly easy and convenient. Our butler, Denis, was absolutely amazing! He was so kind, helpful, and attentive throughout our entire stay. He was always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed and was incredibly thoughtful, but never felt invasive or overbearing. He truly went above and beyond to make our stay special, and we couldn’t be happier with the service he provided. Overall, we had such a wonderful time at Royalton Hideaway and would absolutely recommend it. The beautiful resort, amazing room, friendly staff, great food, and especially the exceptional service from Denis made our stay one we’ll remember for a long time!

  Great resort for families

  Me and my had a great time. Celebrating our baby moon. We booked the diamond club experience and were added a personal butler. Denis, our butler made us feel welcome from the start with casual check ups for the day and helping reserve our experience for every night.

  More of a 4 star, not 5 star

  After a 9 hour flight and made to walk in the heat from main reception to hideaway. Again Made to wait for 45 mins at the check in hideaway to be told our butler (from diamond club) had gone home for day but no replacement butler given so had to go to room ourselves and find out where everything was in the resort ourselves. Room had a musky damp smell, one king size bed, sub standard given it was a diamond club room. Next day met butler who took our À la carte reservations and I mentioned it was our wedding anniversary in 2 days time. I even wrote it along side a reservation on WhatsApp so he had a reminder. Wedding anniversary received no acknowledgement at all, no bottle of bubbly, no special announcement at our dinner reservation, not even a door banner to congratulate us! Absolutely disappointed. We then spoke to the head butler Leandro who was very friendly, listened, and changed our butler for us for the remaining 6 days of our stay. Our new Butler Dionis was great, always checked in with us, ensured our reservations were on track and answered any queries we had. This is how the butler service should be. Overall we had a good holiday, I would say the resort is more of a 4 star, it needs updating, Hunter and zen were good but the other restaurant menus need updating. Some staff really friendly like Juan in the buffet and the guy that makes the omelette in the far side near the juices, but some staff are miserable and sound rude. Service with a smile, this needs to be improved. We have been to Jamaica Negril Royalton which was super and Mexico Royalton. They are 5 star not sure about this.

  I was appointed with the experience I had during my stay

  I was looking forward to my stay at the Royalton Hideaway in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, during my cousin's wedding. We booked the butler service with the room after my sister shared the experience she'd had the year before at the Royalton Hideaway in Mexico — she said we would love it. The experience I had and the way I was treated during this stay was not what I expected or was prepared for. We stayed from August 20–24, as one of roughly 50 guests attending my cousin's wedding. What should have been a joyful, stress-free weekend turned into a steady stream of encounters with unprofessional, rude, and unfriendly staff. Check-In Experience We arrived a few hours after the majority of our group. When we got there, many of them were still waiting to be checked in or were trying to change the rooms they'd been assigned, because the rooms were dirty or the air conditioning wasn't working properly. We waited in line at the main building for over 20 minutes, only to be told we needed to go to the Diamond Club across the hall. Once there, we were redirected again and told we actually needed the Diamond Club at the Hideaway building. The three of us walked back and forth through the heat with our luggage to reach the Diamond Hideaway check-in area. No one directed us or greeted us on arrival. Room Assignment Issues The first room they offered us was on the 3rd floor, which is when we learned the building had no elevator. They then tried to put us in a room on the 1st floor with a single king-size bed for three adult women. We refused the room, and I let them know I was not pleased and would be writing a letter to the upper management this experience. They eventually found a room on the 2nd floor and told us it would be an hour and a half before it was ready. We were told we could go relax and shower in the 3rd-floor room in the meantime, but could not access the 1st floor room that they tried to put us in there just had a king size bed. My sister and niece ended up changing in the hot, unventilated hallway bathrooms. I chose to wait until we could get into our actual room. Room Cleanliness Once we were finally in our room, the butler opened the refrigerator, and my sister noticed it was dirty. He said nothing about it until she brought it up herself. Beyond that, the curtains had mildew on them, the outside of the toilet bowl had something stuck to it, the tissue box cover was dirty and dusty, the shower doors had soap scum, and the bathroom door was dirty. It was clear this wasn't an isolated problem; it was affecting nearly everyone. Our own room wasn't ready either, and we waited over 2 hours before we could get into it. Staff and Communication I was surprised that there weren’t more employees who spoke or understood English, yet every price tag in the gift shops was listed in US dollars. Atmosphere and Advertising Discrepancies When I entered the Sports Lounge, it smelled like a sewer. The resort is advertised as adult-only, yet children were everywhere except in the Hideaway pool area. Food and Dietary Accommodations In the Diamond Club, there was no food available for guests who don't eat meat — no fruit and no salad options. In the large buffet restaurant, the eggs and fish were not thoroughly cooked. One of the cooks gave me push can when I asked him to use another bowl and utensil to to prepare my omelet and if he could clean off a section of the grill for me or use a pan. He was not happy about this request. I asked for assistance from a supervisor in the area with assisting with my request. Not an Isolated Incident Through out my stay I encountered staff who were rude or dismissive when I asked for assistance. The lack of organization and basic hospitality was disappointing. Our group wasn't the only one affected — a couple arrived who had been transferred from another one of the resort's properties due to issues with their room there.
