Jan 18, 2026Mixed experience. Great staff, processes need lots of help.
First of all, the staff were very friendly. Room was clean, pool area and bar were nice. Shuttle organization is rough. We arrived and finally saw a Hampton in Van and he said he’d take us as to the Hilton. The return shuttle, although arranged in advance, showed up 20 minutes late. The major problem was checking in. There were no clean rooms, lines of people were not able to check in. Once we could check in the process is unbearably slow, with each person having to show their passport and it is all done on paper. It was taking 30 minutes roughly per party to check in. We spent the first 3 hours of our trip just trying to get our room which was tiring after traveling since 3 am. We received two drink coupons as compensation for our trouble.

I have been coming to this hotel for years. I am a Hilton honors member. And I’ve always loved the service. The Liberia airport now has this terrible parking lot that is dusty dirt and you have to pay $30 a day to park. I decided since I was flying in I would treat myself to a nice room and have the parking at the Hilton. This would offset the ridiculous parking in the price. Not so! The Hilton charges $15 a night to park your freaking car. I got to the airport rather late because I was behind some trucks in the morning and by the time I got to the Hilton to check in the front desk person was in the back, probably watching TV or something. Then the person that parks the cars came and told me that I needed to park my car correctly. Three times he corrected the way that I parked in between the lines and there were plenty of parking spaces. He was being ridiculous. I almost miss my flight and I got the last seat on the plane! Coming back I took the airport shuttle to the parking and the hotel. Guess what. I waited for 45 minutes and the Hampton Inn shuttle kept going by. I was thinking why am I not staying at the Hampton. So I asked the shuttle driver have you seen the Hilton Garden hotel shuttle and he said it’s the same shuttle for both hotels. I said why doesn’t it say the Hilton in the Hampton! I sat there and waited thinking that it was the Hampton hotel. This whole mess has been a ridiculous show. I talked to them at the front desk and I complained. They give me no discount or compensation. They told me they would call me to see if they could give me a free meal but guess what the telephone in my room doesn’t work. This whole thing is ridiculous. I’m not staying here anymore. This is just unacceptable. The rooms are clean and nice. It’s quiet. But I mean come on let’s provide some service here and charging for parking? The whole thing is just punitive.

Card charged twice and no refund made - unacceptable!
I booked a double room for 27-29 December at a confirmed price. Upon arrival Hilton had unilaterally changed it to a single room and increased the price. It took a manager and a very, very long time to sort it out and she promised a refund and a compensation. But - totally unacceptable - my card has now been charged twice, both the erroneous UDS amount and a new amount in Colones. Calls and emails remain unanswered. Can Hilton pls fix this urgently and refund the full amount!

Mixed Experience
Decent hotel overall with clean, comfortable rooms and a restaurant offering good menu options. Its proximity to the Liberia airport is a big plus, and the free airport shuttle is a valuable service—in theory. However, the shuttle process needs significant improvement. While advance booking is required, this was not clearly communicated. As a result, we saw many guests scrambling in the morning, especially those with early flights. Even worse, the actual shuttle management was chaotic—guests who hadn’t booked were getting on, ( without knowing the process) while some who had booked were left behind. The driver didn’t seem to manage the situation well, and when I flagged this to hotel staff, the response was disappointing: I was told it was “the driver’s responsibility,” which doesn’t reflect well on overall service ownership. Another important tip: avoid rooms on Level 1 with odd numbers. These are located next to the restaurant, pool area, and restrooms, making them quite noisy. If you have an early morning flight and plan to turn in early, this can be a real issue. We had people sitting in the restaurant patio talking loudly well into the night. In summary, a convenient and clean airport hotel, but clearer communication, better shuttle coordination, and more proactive service would greatly improve the guest experience.

The hotel itself was great. But be wary of the free airport shuttle. Whatever system they have to sign people up and communicate with the shuttle driver is messed up. There were 20 people waiting at 5:00 for two 8 passenger vans. We got on the second one and the driver had been told 4 people for that hotel.
