It was a decent hotel but not worth the resort price

We went with our daughter and her husband. At check in, their room was ready but they didn't have a room with a King available for us. We went to our daughter's room while they sorted it out. It didn't take too long, but we ended up in a different tower. After realizing the distance between the two rooms, my son-in-law asked to be moved to the same tower. The rooms were comfortable but very dated. The facility staff happened to be on strike while we were there, so several of the restaurants were closed and we had no housekeeping service. They did arrange to have clean towels, toilet paper and packets of coffee available for pickup on one floor in our tower. It ended up being convenient for us as we had to stop on that floor to change elevators to get to our daughter's room. Disposable cups would have been a good idea too rather than having to wash them out each morning. The hotel was very gracious in providing a partial refund for our troubles. We only visited two of the pools. The adult pool seemed to be shaded most of the time. We usually went to the main pool. There are life guards on duty but they seemed primarily responsible for leaving signs on the lounges if left vacant for too long. I'd much rather they have spoken to the kids jumping off the ledges too close to others, or in what I deemed as too shallow (as into the water feature at the Tapa pool) or the girls jumping from the cheerleader pyramids. We are used to being able to order food and drinks while at the pool. I'm not sure if it was a result of the strike, but only one day did we have someone come around with a menu to order take out from one of the nearby restaurants. We weren't the only ones disappointed about the lack of alcoholic beverage service. We were also very disappointed with the lagoon and beach amenities. I realize it may not be an issue for many travelers, but we also missed having a place to sit and socialize. We often play cards in the evening (it was Rummy on this trip) which we learned you cannot do in a facility that serves alcohol due to the gambling laws. We did play in the room in the evenings, but it wasn't very comfortable as there wasn't enough seating for the table (just the one chair) so we played sitting around the coffee table (two on the couch, one on the floor, one in the chair). A neutral seating area on the grounds would be a great addition. The hotel was located in a great location. View from some of the rooms are spectacular. Fireworks was a definite plus. We walked through the city to find good local eateries. We parasailed from the marina in walking distance and took an island tour on a bus that picked us up directly from the hotel. And, we were lucky enough to see a monk seal on the beach!!

    Busy on the beach

Determine the type of vacation you are looking for before booking this. We’ve been on 3 varied properties over our two week stay and chose this as a 1 nighter at the end before we fly home. Waikiki area is hustle bustle and shopping so definitely not our vibe for travel but may be for others. Beach is right out front and seemed family friendly, plenty of shopping if that’s what you are looking for on vacation and lots of dining options. Hotel is massive and in need of updating. Room had cable tv but no streaming app capabilities although they did provide a coupon that you could take to some dvd kiosk somewhere on the property to then bring a dvd back to your room…..(insert eye roll). You have to carry your special towel cards down to the pool to get towels, really? We can’t link this to our room key? Couch in room is circa 1980 and ripped. bathroom with tub/shower is tiny and took a full 10 minutes to get hot water.

    Bed Bugs and Problems Galore!

Absolutely horrible. We found bed bugs and stained bedding in an upgraded room, and then when we were moved to a new space, we had no running water! What was management's response? Here’s some points and deal with it. I'm left flabbergasted as a gold status member of Hilton. Just wow! Avoid at all costs!

    Avoid the Hilton Hawaiian village!!!

Avoid the Hilton Hawaiian Village, especially if you want to stay in the Rainbow Tower!!! They are remodeling and the noise is horrendous. If you try to book a room there is no mention of the construction. Very sad! We tried to adjust be had to cut our stay short. They charge too much for Rainbow rooms and expect you to tolerate all the noise. They moved us once to another room but it didn't help. They played stupid and couldn't tell us which rooms were farthest from the noise. SCREW THEM!!!

    Work & pleasure at Waikiki

This hotel is a large complex set on a large acerage property on Waikiki Beach. The room was comfortable although a little stuffy as all windows and baconey door was secured shut allowing no air if you turnef the aircon off. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were too soft to support the head. The facilities offer a range of restaurants and other facilities all designed to make people feel right at home. I attended a 4 day conference at the village. The conference facilities were magnificent.
