A hotel with a big name but lousy service.
This hotel was not the best choice. They had a suite of 105 m2 with a view of the sea and the old part of Panama City. The room was really big. Maybe too much, but it was our choice. After the shower, I wanted to get a beer from the minibar and realized that it wasn't there. I call the reception that I don't have beer. Answer: We cannot bring it to you because you do not have open minibar credits. I say the room is over $300 per day and I will certainly pay the $2. Unfortunately. You will have to pay a deposit at the reception or you can go to the bar. I go to the front desk, where they take 300 USD from my card as a deposit for the minibar. I ask that there are no slippers in the room. They brought me the worst and cheapest. I call the reception that they are small. A: We only have one size. I have a leg 43 atk normal. The cleaning lady always only cleaned the bed and did nothing extra. She didn't change the glasses on our table, etc. The first day we went to the hotel for dinner. Something horrible. The food was inedible. They should really change the chefs there. And a high price on top of that. I think this was our last visit to the Hilton brand.

View
Well from this hotel you will have a lovely view out over the water which is great. You can walk to some places near to the hotel but otherwise it is convenient to use uber to go for sightseeing. Good breakfast.

Amazing suite
On our arrival we spent one night in this hotel, we had booked a beautiful suite, very large room with a living room, a beautiful and large kitchen, several toilets and beautiful bathroom, on the other hand no balcony or terrace, but beautiful view , nice breakfast buffet, somewhat cold common areas, but very good value for money

Great time during Corona Outbreak
We were in Panama Mid March for 4 nights when Corona Virus was just started to impact the world. Our flight arrived before time and it took us only 15 mins to pass the customs. They were checking incoming passengers temperature wearing full body suits - a sign things will be getting bad. At the airport they passed our luggage through x-rays but still we were out in 30 mins. The hotel is 30 mins from the airport and located in a very urban downtown location. There are many great restaurants, shopping stores, fast food, banks and a lot of traffic at walking distance. We had a larger unit with a sitting area which was enough for 5 of us. There was a small fridge and a coffee maker. Our unit had the city view and on the 5th floor. The elevator is really small and its supposed to hold 8-9 people. On the top floor/roof top there is a gym, pool and hot tub. There is a small sitting area too. There must have been some sandwich or fast food shop there as there was a kitchen and vending machine. It was very hot and humid in Panama and the pool was a welcome break. We had the breakfast included due to gold status and had a good variety in the buffet. We also ordered made-to-order omelettes. They had some local options as well like meat and tortilla. Fresh fruit was a plus. The first day they had no place to seat us so we sat in the conference room but saw people number dwindle as Corona grew. There were taxis and Uber always available outside the hotel. The lobby area is well maintained and there was a bar area, sitting sofas and a small concierge desk. I found the reception staff very friendly and helpful. They guided us every night to the best restaurants according to our tastes and moods. They guided us to local attractions and arranged for taxis and Uber. One of the night employee was particularly helpful - don't remember his name. We asked him about the situation in Panama every day and he recommended we should leave before they shut down the airport. We were lucky to have left before the shutdown occurred. There was nothing to do in Panama anyway - Canal, Malls, Attractions were shut down. The restaurants were operating at 50% if at all. We have a really good time at Double Tree. Last day we just spent time at the pool which was shut down later after we left, went out for lunch, rested in the nice A/C room and then went for a walk and dinner later. I wish we had been to Panama at a better time but we had a great time never the less.

A Short Visit
We arrived about 11 am after an overnight flight. We were greeted warmly and pleasantly surprised to learn that our room was ready. The room was large enough with a very comfortable bed, couch, chair and desk. Plenty of outlets. The bathroom was very nice with a separate shower and tub. At about midnight on our first night we were informed that our cruise that was scheduled to depart in a day and a half had been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The hotel graciously worked with us to permit us to extend our stay 2 extra nights. Front desk staff were very helpful in advising us about the neighborhood and other Panamá City attractions. The neighborhood is fun. Calle Uruguay is nearby with lots of bars and restaurants. The El Carmen subway station is nearby as is the beautiful church. We will definitely be back in Panama City and when we are back, the Doubletree will be a fine place to stay.
