    Terrible

I booked my rooms months in advance thought booking.com for 7 people and a 3 month baby. I purposely booked this location because of its proximity to the cartagena letters and the chiba rumbera pickup spot at 7pm (right outside) and the rooftop pool. I contacted the hotel via WhatsApp at least 7 different times to confirm my reservations and to pay in advance if possible. I was asure over and over again that my reservations was good to go and that payments was going to be maid through booking.com with the card on file. I informed the hotel that I was on my way and that I did not have service on the highway. TO PLEASE contacts me though WhatsApp since I purchased a national Sim card to assist my international data. I was traveling from minca, santa marta to cartagena, its about 5hr drive. On my way to the aixo hotel, at 4pm, I once again contacted them to confirm my reservation. They confirm my reservation. I arrived at the hotel at 5:30 pm magically my reservations was canceled. They offered to give me other rooms and charge me duble the price. Then that they Could not honor my reservations, unless they send me to Abi in, which ruins all my plans and made me lose about 3 hrs since I did not get my rooms until 7:44pm. Also Abi in is s much uglyer hotel: the air-conditioned control didnt worked, the TV had 3 crack lines going through it, cloudy pool. Thank you for runing my last night in the country. Could not take my pre-recerved chiba rumbera, or go to the rooftop pool looking over the sea, or walk to the cartagena letters. Everything while dealing with a crying baby. Will not book again.

    Disgusting place

There were roaches in the room. The rooms are really small, unclean. The front desk staff wasn’t helpful. There was a big burly man at the desk who wouldn’t even acknowledge me or try to assist. There were roaches crawling on my belongings . The hotel staff smirked when he saw the roaches, and had to help me kill one. No apology from hotel or anything . Wouldn’t recommend at all. Disgusting place!

Comfortable hotel at a great price

I picked Aixo for the low price and because it met my criteria of having a swimming pool and being near the beach and Centro Historico. Upon checking in, I found the room to be clean and comfortable. There’s no room fridge or table and chairs, just a bed, two nightstands and a TV. There was also a luggage stand that held one suitcase. An armchair and a fridge would be nice to have, but I knew when I booked that the room lacked these. The included buffet breakfast typically included scrambled eggs and some variation of potatoes, sausage and fried bananas. There was also a daily selection of fruit, juices and of course fresh coffee. Lunch and dinner are also available at the restaurant a la carte with the cost charged to your room. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels and soap and shampoo provided. The rooftop pool was too small and shallow for swimming but was an ideal play area for children. There were a large number of lounge chairs available that were in sun most of the day. There’s also a small bar on the roof, open from 9 am to 8 pm. The cost of drinks are added to your room tab. The view of the beach from the rooftop is breathtaking. I couldn’t get enough of it. There’s a huge variety of restaurants in the few blocks around the hotel. I highly recommend the Terraza Marbella rooftop restaurant which is at a nearby hotel, the TW Sports bar for a great casual dinner or bar experience. Some English is spoken by the staff there. Another popular spot is the Parilla del Sabor restaurant. The staff at Aixo spoke limited English but they were friendly and worked hard to keep the guests comfortable and happy.

Lairs - still waiting for our refund (6 months)

Our worst experience from our trip to Colombia & Peru. Terrible old room, windows cant be fully closed, there is a massive crossroad right below this hotel where cars are driving in all directions all day and night long and these local drivers uses the horn to warn, greet, change direction, and at any given occasion all you can hear is only honk. Not a place for rest, only for deaf maybe. Second, we paid first 50€ to booking.com for reservations and then this hotel asked to pay the rest price of additional 100€ at the reception in advance, for all three nights. We left immediately after first night and requested refund, they said when we were leaving that refund will be in a week because someone was taking vacation, then we sent many emails and made few phone calls and still haven’t received a single euro back. These are thieves and liars, should not be in a business of hospitality anymore. Funny point: they even ask for our passports, bank details and requested proof of payment and where to send the refund, but guess what, they never do it.

Stay at Ibis next door, cheaper and more accurate description

The rudest people work here, show no concern for guest's safety or comfort. Allow hasslers and taxi yellers to stand right in front of hotel's only entrance. The types who follow you, which is not the case at Ibis next door. Have strange arbitrary rules upon check in (ex., "we need your flight info." why???) No one knows what they're doing. Makes big deal about covid rules, while packing breakfast room with people. Do not feel welcome. Breakfast was not good. Room with an 'ocean view' actually faced an ugly building and construction. Really??? I had 3 beds in my room and no space to open my luggage. I booked an ocean view and got a family room with bunk beds. Never saw this 'pool'. The ladies who work here were nice, but the male supervisors, front desk people, etc. not only were not helpful, made me feel uncomfortable as a female guest. Thank goodness I only stayed one night and got to transfer to Ibis for less of the cost.
