Dec 10, 2025Good location, fine for a short stay
We, and another couple , stayed at Hotel Contempo for one night - December 8-9. It’s an older hotel, clean, but not what’s expected from the photos. The gardens were nice on the property. The pool was very dirty , the gym which is advertised had no AC, elliptical & stationary bike need replaced. Lighting in the hotel room is very difficult- there were no windows in our room so if you turned the lights off- it was pitch black!! We Couldn’t leave the bathroom light on in the night as there was a very noisy fan which could not be turned off. Beds were comfortable, AC in room was ok. We were given a ticket on arrival for a complimentary drink- lemonade , or soda. The breakfast was very good- seven choices were included for a complimentary breakfast. More choices were available to pay for. It was located in a good area. 10 minutes away was a huge Galleria mall- filled with upscale shops, beautifully decorated for Christmas , and many restaurants. We went to the Shanghai Chinese Bistro which had excellent food and a robot which serves some of the food. The hotel did serve dinner as well. Prices seemed a little high, but if you don’t want to leave the hotel it’s convenient. There’s a spa onsite but we didn’t go in to see it ,or for services. The staff at the hotel were very nice and helpful from check -in to check-out. It was a 30 minute drive to the airport.

May 26, 2023Stylish place for tourists or business
We stayed at Hotel Contempo on a couple of occasions recently while visiting friends.What an oasis! Stylishly beautiful premises, cute pool for doing laps and each room was different but swish, very comfortable and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful including with transfers to and from the airport.

The facilities are nice BUT they are lacking good service, It’s just just not there. Let me tell you from the beginning this place is NOT LGBTQ friendly, I spent a night here with my partner and the staff was very rude and kept looking at us in a very judgmental way, nobody gave us that welcoming feeling you expect from a place where you visit for the first time specially if you’re paying for the service and expect great things. From the beginning there were many issues. As a 5-star Hotels Forbes Trainer I can tell you they need to fix many things 1. The front desk staff is NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE about packages and what’s included in the price I booked my reservation online and never received any confirmations nor any details via email, I had to call the hotel and ask for them to process the reservation. Again the front desk lady knew nothing about it and had me call Marjorie? For more details. 2. They did not give me any details about breakfast when checking in and we missed it. The front desk Lady was rude and dismissive she did not provide any details about the services and where to find stuff around the hotel. 3. They did not give us the welcome cocktail 4. I asked for a different wine than the one included in the package and even though they couldn’t change it for free, they still did not offer me another option even as an extra cost, which I would’ve pay for if offered 5. During dinner, the server was so worried about 2 men enjoying their romantic package that she messed up my order and brought the wrong plate (never apologized for it) 6. The servers at Azul are rude and just not welcoming. Customer Service it’s just not present, it’s just plain rude and horrible service. In the end they have the facilities and they’re nice but they’re lacking great staff and great service. NOT recommended at all specially if you’re local, if I ever come back it might be just because of the American set up they have in most of the facilities but not because I was happy during my stay.

Perfect Atmosphere and Customer Service
The staff are friendly and bilingual (english and spanish). They are attentive to all of our needs everytime we come visit Managua to update our tourist visas (Covid-19). The grounds are immaculate and we love the peace and serenity of the outdoor areas. The included breakfast is a great touch as well.

Open for business!
We stayed at Hotel Contempo a few years ago so when we had to travel back to Managua it was a great choice. Plus, so many other options are shut down. The manager was welcoming and friendly and everyone spoke English. Although it was quiet, as expected, it was still lovely. The pool and gym were great, and they even put a mini-fridge in our room. Within walking distance is the supermarket, beauty salon and restaurants. During these Times of Covid, we felt safe and walked out happy. Well done.
