- Other Local AttractionsCozumel is rich in history and natural wonders. Popular destinations include ancient Mayan temples on the north side of the Island; the sanctuary to Ix- Chel -the fertility goddess- in San Gervasio and the Museum of the Island of Cozumel, with its colorful displays of underwater reefs and other Island treasures. At El Cedral, on the south side of the Island, the oldest Maya structure on Cozumel built in A.D. 800 can be found. Nearby a towering lighthouse at Punta Sur offers a 360-degree view of the Island.
Cozumel is habitat to many nature reserves: the Cozumel Marine Reef National Park, Chankanaab Park and Lagoon, and Punta Sur. Botanical gardens at Chankanaab Park display 350 different types of tropical plants from more than 20 countries. Another attraction is the dolphin aquarium, treating visitors to a close-encounter with playful dolphins. Punta Sur is a new eco-tourist park for visitors interested in learning about the Island's native flora and fauna. Encircling a region known as Colombia Lagoon, Punta Sur is a unique setting of mangrove jungles, white sandy beaches and reef formations. The Park's information center allows visitors to watch a 20-minute video and learn about different eco-systems, environment and native birds, turtles, alligators, fish and coral in the Park. At the information center, visitors can rent electric bikes to explore Punta Sur on their own.

Aug 28, 2026A little disappointed from our trip in April which was outstanding to this August trip which did not hold to same
Absolutely great staff entertainment yassey the is the best. Was a little disappointed in the food this trip. Food at the end of April when we visited was great and lots of selections this August trip on 2 selections and with pretty much the same items. We love the hotel and will return yo see if it gets better.

Good for families diving and snorkeling 🤿
Been twice with our children - once in March and once in August. It's a good hotel for diving or snorkeling. We snorkelled off their little cove every day, and I used the adjacent dive shop for a refresher dive plus a few drift dives via boat. The room is pretty basic and does the job. Nice beds plus the comfy hammock. The TV is dated and quirky (channel up/down issue, volume issue). The food is solid, but our March visit was definitely better in terms of food options. We preferred the buffet, but the August trip only had the a la carte dinner most nights, and fewer choices on the menu. It was nice to have some activities onsite daily. Though the spring trip had more going on (e.g. magic show), and the August trip was a bit more basic (e.g. Bingo). The daily volleyball game at the pool was a highlight! As was karaoke night. Thanks to the wonderful staff, and especially to entertainment crew: Yesi, Juanita, Suny, Jose and Tony.

10/10 recommend this beats time shares for sure and the all inclusive is great!! Also, we loved playing volleyball with Tony and suny was a great lotteria host and honestly all the staff is great too!! The views and food are great too!!I want to come back soon!!!

I would go back
Very quiet resort. Not over crowded at all. Love the ocean pool. Would like to see the food be a bit better but the service was very good. Our pool side waiter Roger was excellent. He made sure you always had what you wanted.

Best experience at Iberostar Waves Cozumel
Our stay at Iberostar Waves Cozumel was nothing short of exceptional. The beautiful tropical grounds, comfortable accommodations, delicious food, and warm hospitality made this one of our most memorable vacations. A very special thank you goes to Kenia, who went above and beyond to help me create the perfect surprise for my wife's birthday. She took care of every detail, arranging a stunning bouquet of flowers, a bottle of champagne, and delicious chocolate-covered strawberries waiting in our room. The surprise was flawlessly executed, and the joy on my wife's face is a memory we'll cherish forever. Kenia's kindness, professionalism, and genuine dedication to making our stay unforgettable truly set Iberostar apart. She turned a wonderful vacation into an extraordinary celebration.
