    Average hotel experience

    Started with an overcharged taxi ride from the airport. About double what it should have cost (56.00). We tried to book a round trip from the hotel but couldn't reach the private carrier the hotel sent me to. So taxi it was. We booked a room at El Cid Marina but upon arrival we were told our room was in Ventas Ha. (Very Confusing) Ventas Ha is a new place across the street from Marina El Cid. Most everything happens across the street so walking or riding a cart is a necessity. Our room was nice with a beautiful bed and great AC. There was a beautiful tub in the center of the room that we never used. Nice shower space but the water would fluctuate between really cool to really hot with touching the faucet. It was difficult to take a nice shower without getting jolted. I never saw a smaller refrigerator that would fit a few cans of soda and beer. It never worked. I checked that it was plugged in and set to high but it never got colder than AC room temperature. We ended up putting bags of ice in it to keep things cold just like the old days! It was sad that we flew all the way there and didn't even have a view of the ocean. The all inclusive food was average, we could easily find some things we liked but there was a lot of stuff that was just average. We like the Aromas coffee shop the best. And I think the Deloris buffet was best out of the two. DO NOT order room service food. I believe they intentionally serve terrible food to discourage guests from ordering room service. The pools are as beautiful as a 3' deep pool can be, but the beach was awful. Brown murky, bad smelling water. I never saw a guest sitting on the beach or in the water. THIS IS NOT THE RESORT TO VISIT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN BEACH EXPERIENCE! It is a 120 dollar round trip cab ride to Playa Del Carmen which makes a nice day trip to the shopping district. We met a fisherman near the beach that agreed to take us fishing the next morning for 300 dollars. We met a seven AM and by ten we were about a mile off shore in 120 feet of water and catching "Jacks" and "red snapper" one after the other. Awesome fishing. When we were done the captain dropped us of in Porto Morales and gave us some fish fillets and took us to a restaurant where the chef cooked them for us for a beautiful lunch. We spent one day touring Cenotes. That would be something to seriously consider. We went to numerous shows in the evening and enjoyed them all. Finally, we were disappointed in the restaurants. Not the food, but the way reservations were handled. You need to make reservations. But from the first day every restaurant was booked, one or two we could get into but not till 9 pm, you can only make reservations two days ahead so we would go early in to morning two days ahead only to find that the only reservations available were at 9 pm. So, we never got to eat at a couple of restaurants we wanted to try. All in all, we had a relaxing time as there wasn't much to do but sleep by the pool. The photos in this advertising do not reflect the actual conditions. In the future we will find better places to spend our time by the beach.

    I Liked our trip to el cid but probably won't go again.

    We liked the location to the airport. Atmosphere was very friendly and resorts and building were very close to each other. room were large close to pool and ocean. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms were nice. The value was good. the cleanliness was good. Noise levels at marina do get loud during the day close to the pool. So if you want a day nap it might be too loud close to the pool. service well I wasn't very thrilled with the restaurants. The buffet is quit small for feeding all there el cid properties. It is hard to get reservations at the restaurant. The 3 we did get to go to were excellent but would have liked to go to more of them. Luckily we are early dinner eaters since unless you get there early there are lines for main small buffet. The food quality was good there. I didn't like the lunch restaurant at marina location. If you are a beach lover this resorts beach is very small. The resort is so close to the ocean there isn't much of a beach. They have big barricades to keep sand from going out which are ugly. When you stay at el cid marina you can go to the ventus and vents ha pools and the pools are all great. There are pool umbrellas that are really nice. They also have Hot tubs and a heated pool. Over all we had a nice time there and this property has its good points and some not so great points but it wasn't horrible. if you like pools better then ocean and like that 2 of the 3 resorts are brand new. also the resort is close to the airport and Puerto Morelos I would say go head and try this property or ventus or vents ha.

    Rest and relaxation

    I have been to El CID on many occasions. The food is delicious, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms and the resort itself are spotless. We enjoy it here so much we’re heading back in November.

    Great Vacation

    This was the third time we have been at this resort, and we had a wonderful vacation. Our special request for rooms has always been accommodated, the rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and towel supply and refreshments are well stocked. The staff are all friendly and willing to help in anyway. The gyms are spotless and well equipped. The food is excellent and there are many restaurants to choose from and the service to wonderful. I highly recommend this resort and plan to return this fall.
