Perfect weekend in Berlin and the Accommodation is always the element to set it off. They want more characters. So .... Staff were great rooms very modern amazing bathroom amazing underfloor heating. Location spot on. If you have never been before cross over the road and enter a world of amazing shops.

RIU Rules in Schonenberg - Berlin
I had never visited Germany but always wanted to visit Germany's capital, especially after seeing Berlin Showcased on the TV for the Euros 2024. I wanted to be fairly near to the Tourist sights as well as local transportation, this is why I chose the RIU Plaza Berlin as my preferred place to stay. I had stayed at RIU hotels in the Canary Islands before [Gran Canaria] & was NOT disappointed. This hotel was NO exception.

Home from home in Berlin
I've written many reviews about RIU Berlin and it is always a pleasure to come back. Spent 10 nights over Christmas and New Year, rooms are comfortable and clean, spacious even for a standard room, nice shower/bathroom, cleaning team do an excellent job each day. Hotel is perfect location for transport, bars, restaurants and the best for the gay scene. Breakfast is fantastic, probably the best in Berlin, it does get very busy but the team lead by the wonderful Ervin (apologies if I have spelt his name wrong) have it all under control and runs smoothly. Only negative I have is I wish that the hotel had advertised the Silvester evening better by notifying customers in advance to their visit because I may have booked the evening but I had already made plans. Its home from home for us when in Berlin

Jan 05, 2025Check if scaffolding in place if considering this hotel.
Very disappointed. When we arrived we went to our room. Immediately on entering the view from the window was scaffolding! Apparently work is ongoing however we were not informed of this. We asked to change rooms and were told all the rooms have scaffolding obscuring the view. The housekeeping team cleaned the room each day however they did not replace tea, coffee, etc. We were awoken by the morning light filtering in through all the 'moth eaten' holes in the curtains. There were bleach stains on the corridor carpets, the escalator was not in use and was taped off. I would not recommend this hotel and the experience has deterred me from using any RIU hotels in the future.
