  Gold earring stolen from room

  I stayed at this hotel recently and, at first, everything seemed perfect. However, my experience took a disappointing turn when I discovered that my gold earrings was stolen by the house keeping and had gone missing from the room. I reported the incident to the hotel management immediately, hoping for a prompt and professional response. Unfortunately, not only was there no resolution, but I also never received any follow-up communication from the staff regarding the matter. It's deeply upsetting to feel that a place you trusted with your belongings did not take your concerns seriously. While the stay itself was enjoyable, the lack of accountability and follow-through from the management has left a lasting negative impression. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and improves its internal protocols to ensure guest safety and trust in the future.

  Don't book during spring and autumn - no airconditioning at all!

  We stayed at Riu Plaza España in April 2025 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience that did not live up to the hotel’s 4-star rating. First and foremost, the rooms did not have functioning air conditioning — despite this being clearly advertised on the hotel's website and booking platforms. We stayed for five nights with indoor temperatures around 29°C, making the rooms unbearable during the day and difficult to sleep in at night. All attempts to adjust the system failed, and when we complained, we were told that AC is only turned on during the summer months. This crucial detail was never mentioned during booking and amounts to false advertising. Additionally, the elevators work terribly. Despite having six elevators, wait times during peak hours (breakfast, check-in, and check-out) were extremely long — often 5 to 10 minutes. Many guests resorted to pushing their way in just to avoid being left behind again. It felt more like a crowded train station than a 4-star hotel. While staff were polite and offered small compensations like drinks and cold water, they did not address the core problem, and our request for a partial refund remains unanswered by Riu's customer service. This hotel may look impressive from the outside, but our experience was dominated by discomfort, miscommunication, and poor infrastructure. We will not be returning, and we recommend to avoid this hotel, especially during hot spring and autumn months.

  Great location

  For a very large hotel, the service was excellent. Decent sized room. Inclusive breakfast had lots of options. Would definitely return and in fact , we are looking at Riu hotels in other locations.

  Luxurious

  Had a wonderful stay at the Plaza in every way. Our balcony had a great view over the square below. The bath in the King room was a very much appreciated feature. Located right beside a Metro station was also a big plus.

  Great stay at Riu Plaza Espana!

  We spent 2 days at Madrid, Riu Plaza Espana was located centrally from almost everywhere we wanted to visit! We walked everywhere, hotel was near many historical sites and within 2-minute walk from shops and restaurants. Very nice and clean hotel, breakfast buffet was terrific.
