An excellent 4 star hotel close to city centre - walking distance. Very clean and spacious rooms also a good sized bathroom with detachable shower head. Attentive and helpful staff

Dec 02, 2025Disappointing. FAR better hotels available in the same location,.
Check-in: poor. We checked-in early but our room wasn't available (fair enough), so advised to leave bags with the concierge. Told concierge was 'down there' and pointed to right of the check-in desk. Concierge was actually outside, but it wasn't immediately obvious, and we had to query, again. A bit more attentiveness and clearer instructions would have been appreciated. Little things like this, really doesn't take much effort - and makes a world of difference to the weary traveler. Rooms: we had a room on floor 22. It was clean, and spacious. But, it needed refurbishment, being a bit shabby in places. A/C was awful, the room was hot so we set it at 16c before we went to bed. It came on, but it was useless, and the room remained stuffy. Bathroom: shower was poor. Pressure wasn't great, and it was an over bath shower attachment. Toiletries were ok. But the soap was awful. Firstly, why soap? Not really what you expect. This isn't some 'boutique' hotel and the soup wasn't an expensive brand or anything fancy. It reminded me of soap from school toilets from the 1980s. Regency lounge: what a JOKE! The lounge itself, fine, it's a corporate hotel lounge, and was comfortable. What's the point of a lounge though without food and drink? Only four bottles of wine available, barely anything left in them. Red wine looked awful, some cheap 12% rubbish. NO food left at 6.30pm and nothing being re-stocked either. Literally, NOTHING. There are 100s of bars, clubs and restaurants in Brindley Place and Broad Street, less than 5 minutes from the hotel...PLEASE, PLEASE, do not waste your money on this poor effort. Breakfast: was fine. Buffet food was hot and good quality. Service was pretty good. Special mention to the young man who took our order for food in the lobby in the evening. He was polite, quick and attentive. Note we were only in the lobby though due to the rip-ff lounge having no food or drink! Overall: avoid. There are better hotels nearby. Recommend the Crowne Plaza. Cheaper, more modern, good breakfast and all staff were super friendly and helpful (including at check-in).

Great hotel in Birmingham
Great Hotel, smooth check in process, easy access to Birmingham ICC via footbridge. Rooms spacious, and clean. Free water bottles in room. Walking distance to the Christmas markets, and to Black Sabbath Bridge. Comfortable bed and air conditioned. Took a while to get the temperature right, with the air conditioning. Very friendly check in staff.

Great location for symphony hall and just far enough away from Broad Street to avoid the street problems. The hotel is clean and a bit expensive but the best option for this part of town.

Mediocre and dates, with nonexistent club amenities and surly check in
Just checked out November 2025) after a disappointing stay. The location is excellent and we had great service from the bar and breakfast staff. But otherwise the rooms are dated and small with gross tiny bathrooms (single sink, barely hot water, bar soap, old style bath shower). Two epic fails. 1. Checkin receptionist was rude and surly. She couldn't find my two night reservation which I had confirmed online and by phone for a morning check in having paid for the night before. Room not ready etc. Yes it is... Even after showing her the reservation and being firm that she was wrong she threatened to call the manager. I mean I'm the paying customer and you aren't doing your job. Of course she eventually found it and handed me the key, no apology. Started the stay off on a bad foot. 2. The lounge is a complete waste of money. I had 4 rooms for 7 family member and figured it would be nice to have some lounge time so paid 50 gbp a night extra for the lounge. We arrive at 625pm for a 530-730pm cocktail/canapes hour and there is a quarter bottle of wine and a few crisp bits left. We figured food would get replenished but no. After 30 minutes someone appeared with a bottle of wine, but eventually we have up and ended up spending another 300 gbp in the bar in the lobby (where food drinks and service was great). Save your money and don't book a club room.
