Oct 14, 2026HR Chicago hits it out of the park for us runners
I had a lot of expectations before coming to Chicago because people in the Globalist social media groups often rave about their stay at HR Chicago. Given that I am in town to run the marathon and HR Chicago is only a mile away from the start and finish line, I chose to stay here for 3 nights for easy access to the marathon. And I am extremely happy to say that HR Chicago truly exceeded my expectations. It is as good as people claim and then some. The valet and doorman were extremely helpful and friendly even though they were trying to manage a constant flow of cars entering the driveway. That didn’t keep them from immediately attending to my needs and directing me to the front desk for check in. They are very professional. And even though the lobby was extremely chaotic due to some large convention, the line for WOH members at check in was well staffed and barely has a wait. I was offered an upgrade to a junior suite plus 4pm checkout as a globalist without me even asking. Furthermore, the hotel also offers something I’ve never gotten in any Hyatt properties: a $25 F&B daily credit. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take advantage of it since I dined out with friends the entire time but that offering is most definitely appreciated. The lounge is also very comfortable and quiet, a great place to relax and get some sweets and coffee. And since we marathoners have to leave the hotel around 6 that morning, they opened the lounge at 5:30a that morning (usually opens at 6:30) and stocked it with bananas, apples, and some treats. That is very thoughtful of them and shows that they go above and beyond for their guests. The only recommendation I would offer is for them stock more carb items like white or sourdough bread. That, with honey, and banana are all the fuel I need before a long run. And to further show the hotel management and staff are thoughtful, they also put out small packages for runners that include bandages and vasoline. That was extremely helpful as those are something all distance runners need for a race. On top of that, they also made a room especially for stretching with yoga mats and rollers. HR Chicago truly knows how to host us runners while also catering to thousands of convention attendees. Having stayed at numerous convention hotels, I’ve often found service to be impersonal and merely adequate. HR Chicago is a remarkable exception, delivering a level of genuine hospitality and attentive service that surpasses even many non-convention HR properties. It is a choice that management has made and that truly is the epitome of exceptional hospitality. The breakfast buffet offers plenty of food options. I was able to carb up and refuel before and after the race. The place was always busy but the staff were very attentive and friendly. The one and only recommendation I would give is for them to upgrade their mattress and bedding. The mattress I slept on had sunken on one side so I slept in the middle of the bed instead. And the pillows and bedding were not as comfortable as most other HR I have stayed. They did not have that silkiness that I am accustomed to at a Hyatt property. But aside from that, I had a wonderful stay. The staff were amazing from the moment I stepped off my car to the time I leave. This HR is truly a pinnacle of luxury, service, and attention to detail.

Oct 13, 2026As you'd expect for the price, but poor inter-staff communication
Hotel was as you would expect for the price, all very clean and tidy. Staff were helpful but clearly lacking in communication across such a large hotel. We got different answers at different times. I was there for the marathon, checking out on the day of the marathon itself. I had asked 6 months in advance about late check out, and was told "this is usually 2pm for marathon runners". Then a week before I was told it should be possible and to ask at check in. Then at check in I was flatly told there was no option, and repeatedly asked about upgrades instead. lots of upselling, not a lot of listening to what is important to the customer. If I had been told this in advance of my stay, I would have booked through the official marathon hotel scheme that offers late check out (I believe even at the same hotel for cheaper).

Wonderful experience
I was there to attend a meeting/conference. What an amazing experience. The staff is first rate. The facilities were fantastic. The location is right in the heart of downtown and easily walkable. 10/10

Great, great location
This was my first visit to Chicago, and after looking at sightseeing I wanted to do, I chose this hotel because it seemed to be a great location. It was! This hotel is in easy walking distance to so many attractions, and if you're not into walking there are several bus stops nearby. The hotel is across the street from the Riverwalk, which is lovely to walk on, it is a few short blocks to the Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, Millennium Park, and so much more. This hotel is huge; there are over 2000 rooms. I have to admit, the lobby and the lower area with the market and some restaurants felt like a small city, but once you leave that area, it is less busy. Our room was very quiet, which made me happy. There are several restaurants in the hotel, and a market where you can not only buy various sundries, but also prepared sandwiches, salads, coffee etc. There are plenty of elevators, so there wasn't much of wait ever. The room was a good size and comfortable. This was the perfect location to base all my sightseeing. We even figured out mass transit and used it to get from the airport and back, and it was easy.

Prime location and top notch service!
