Dec 02, 2025A magical stay in Maui!
I took my two teens to Maui for Thanksgiving this year and it was magical! We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Maui and I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone! Check in was quick and easy and each guest was greeted with a kukui nut lei. You're given an elastic (think wide hair tie band) bracelet that acts as your room key. This was so handy! You could wear it all the time and never have to worry about grabbing your key before leaving your room or having to carry something with you to breakfast or the pool. It was also easily removable if you didn't want to wear it swimming or out to a nice dinner. The bracelet also acted as your key to pick up towels from the towel "vending machine" as my kids called it. You could take and return towels whenever you wanted. There were always chairs available by the pool no matter if we went at 10am or 2pm. They had attendants regularly tidying the pool area throughout the day and removing towels that people had left for too long on chairs, which I appreciated. The main pool was plenty big and never felt crowded. The kids' pool looked great for little ones and my teens and I had fun on the big slide. We also checked out the pool next door and enjoyed the more natural river-like feel to it. The only downside was that the beach area directly in front of the hotel was small and rocky but this was not a big deal and would not keep us from staying there again or recommending this hotel to friends and family. In fact, there are so many great beaches in Maui, that I recommend getting out and away from the hotel anyway to do some exploring for your beach time. We also enjoyed viewing the penguins, swans, and parrots throughout the property. The grounds were so beautiful. We stayed in a corner room in the central building and had a beautiful view of both the mountains and the ocean. The breakfast buffet always had something for everyone and made grabbing something in the morning quick and easy so we could get started on our days quicker. They also had a delicious coffee shop which we enjoyed several mornings, and it also served açai bowls which I'm bummed we didn't get to try. If you needed a quick snack, to purchase sunscreen, or shop for last minute souvenirs, the onsite gift shop had it all. There were plenty of plugs in the room for charging all your devices. The bathroom had plenty of counter space and extra storage space below too. The shower was a nice big walk in and the provided hair dryer was powerful. Additional amenities included a decent sized mini fridge, a Keurig, and a hot water kettle. Our room had two lanais, one with two chairs and a table and the other just a walk out. We hung our swimsuits on the chairs every night and they were dry by morning. Finally, the location is perfect; close to Whalers Village, Black Rock Beach, and Lahaina. I have zero negative things to say about this hotel!

Perfect Maui Stay
Location was amazing with beautiful beach location and multiple pools. Staff welcomed us with open arms and greeted us with traditional Hawaiian beads. Hotel was quiet and the grounds are stunning! Enjoyed our stay and will be back!

The Best of West Maui
We love this resort! We live on island and stay here a handful of times a year and here's why. -Great pools. One kid's pool with a slide. One big pool which has a deep and shallow end, and is always one of the warmest pools on island so you don't freeze. One hot tub everyone can use, not just adults like other hotels on island. -Convenience foods market on-site so I don't have to spend an absolute fortune on food for my family. Still over-priced but better than ordering poolside where you'll pay 3x what you're used to, plus tip. That said, I order a drink or two poolside to enjoy that vacation feel and tip the servers well because they deserve it! Just don't order your kid a meal they'll eat two bites of poolside. Hit up the convenience store! -Super friendly staff. They've always been so wonderful here. Every single person. Wonderful. -Location. It's located at the far south end of the Kaanapali Beach Walk and makes for a great place to walk or jog for exercise. Me, personally, I use it to visit restaurants and the Whalers Village Shopping Center. There are a number of activities you can book out of the shopping center which we love. The Maui Escape Room and sunset cruises with Sail Maui and Trilogy which launch from the beach in front of the shopping center are our favorites. We also love to golf and Kaanapali golf course is walking distance from the hotel. I have a car as a resident but whenever people ask me if they can forego a rental car when coming to Maui I tell them, only if they're staying in Kaanapali south of Black Rock!

The Hyatt Regency Maui is a stunning resort perfect for couple and families. Our son loved spending time in the children’s pool area. We will definitely be back!
