  Perfect for young families

This location was so nice for a family vacation. We're a family of 4, with 2 boys 8 years old and it had everything we needed. The overall hotel and rooms were very clean with a great atmosphere. With everything open, you always felt the outside air and had a view of the ocean. Food amenities were a good range of options. Being so close to Whaler's Village was a plus for additional options. We didn't rent a car from the airport, so the hotel having a Hertz on location was perfect for us to rent a car for the day. The on-site Luau was so fun and convenient being on the hotel grounds. Walkability was overall great - however some of the sidewalks were under construction due to the beach erosion, but overall it was a nice path up all the hotels. The one less-positive review I have is the kids pool area. It was tailored to younger kids, so we felt it was a bit small for our 8 year old boys. A hotel with more young-adult/adult friendly water slides would have been great.

  Amazing family trip in Maui.

I loved my time at the Hyatt. The front desk staff, and Connor made our experience incredible. We loved our room with the ocean view. There was always a lovely breeze in the hotel. The pool was amazing. My kids also loved the kid pool and waterslides. The pina colada was among the best I've ever had.

If you only read one review, read this. SAVE YOUR MONEY

If you only read one review, read this. SAVE YOUR MONEY. I rarely take the time to write reviews, but this experience absolutely deserves one. I was genuinely excited to bring my significant other to this resort after visiting more than 20 years ago. I had wonderful memories of this property, and our plan was to purchase day passes, enjoy the amenities, and see if we wanted to return for an extended stay. Unfortunately, what should have been a beautiful day in Maui became one of the most disappointing resort experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the service was shockingly poor. The concierge barely acknowledged us, offered no smile or warm welcome, and dismissively informed us that “everything is done online” when we asked about day passes. The front desk employee seemed equally annoyed and simply directed us elsewhere. As we navigated the property, we passed employees chatting amongst themselves without acknowledging guests. We asked three different people about lunch options, and each interaction felt unwelcoming. The only exception was the valet driver, who was genuinely kind and professional. After receiving our day-pass wristbands, we already felt like second-class guests. Things only got worse at the poolside restaurant. The hostess waved us toward the tables and told us to seat ourselves. We found a table beneath an umbrella and waited. No menus. No greeting. No acknowledgment. No service. Eventually, my significant other went to the bar seeking assistance. I politely approached the hostess and asked whether table service was available. I also asked if they were understaffed or experiencing difficulties because I genuinely wanted to understand why everyone seemed so unhappy. She explained that employee schedules were changing, they were understaffed, and she had just arrived and was still setting up. She suggested speaking with management. This is where Hyatt truly failed. After another unpleasant interaction at the front desk, I requested a manager and spoke with Lucas Yurek and Zubin Balaporla. Rather than feeling heard, I felt dismissed, questioned, and increasingly uncomfortable. What should have been a simple conversation about poor service became an unnecessary back-and-forth. Management had every opportunity to acknowledge the situation and turn our experience around. Instead, the proposed resolution was to CANCEL our day passes, CUT OFF our wristbands, and possibly refund our meal. I was stunned. I wasn’t asking for complimentary amenities or special treatment. I simply expected basic courtesy and hospitality, especially at a luxury Hyatt resort. The situation was eventually passed along to restaurant manager Lupe Hernandez. Lupe was the resort’s saving grace. He was professional, genuinely apologetic, and kind. He demonstrated exactly the hospitality that had been missing throughout our visit. The valet driver also deserves recognition. Unfortunately, those two individuals couldn’t undo the disappointment. After more than 20 years of traveling and staying at luxury resorts, I can confidently say this property fell remarkably short of expectations. What disappointed me most wasn’t the wait for food or even the lack of organization. It was the collective attitude of the staff and management. We were made to feel as though our presence was an inconvenience. It was embarrassing to repeatedly ask for assistance and ultimately speak with management, especially when complaining is not in my nature. We came hoping to revisit a place I once loved and potentially plan a much longer stay. Instead, we left feeling unwelcome, disrespected, and incredibly disappointed. Luxury isn’t defined by beautiful surroundings or expensive rooms. It’s defined by how guests are treated. This resort failed miserably in that regard. There are far too many beautiful resorts in Maui to spend your hard-earned money somewhere you’re made to feel like an unwanted, second-class guest. Save your money. Spend it somewhere that actually values its guests.

  Terrible pool downgrade

The replacement of their iconic pool was an extraordinary disappointment. I’m shocked you they install something that conflicts so strongly with the ethos of this amazing property. This change is akin to replacing their amazing Swan court restaurant with an Applebees. While I imagine there were many factors and it was a hard decision, I strongly feel they made the wrong one. They went from the best pool in the island to one of the worst.
