Nice location, beautiful lobby/shops, needs some modernization in-room

The lobby is nice, open atrium waterfall and lots of plants is a great way to enter. Location can't be beat, as central to Waikiki beach as it gets. We stayed at the Aston Wakiki Circle last time which was nearly half the price, which is where we would probably stay next time even though its definitely more run down and the rooms are much smaller than the Hyatt, but if you stay 10 days or so it really adds up, probably $2k more to stay at the Hyatt for a 10 day trip. The toilets are the Toto built-in bidet kind, which is cool but if you are over 6 feet tall - its a very tiny toilet and hard to fit on. The hotel itself is a bit dated, some wallpaper peeling off, no updates in probably 20-30 years of the rooms but they are clean and comfortable. Staff was very nice when we requested to be moved so we could see the sunset in our ocean front room (you have to specify or you'll end up in the shade watching other towers watch the sunset - if you care about that from your room). Elevators were a bit slow, $17 for a drink at the pool bar is a bit rough, better off grabbing your own at the ABC stores and just chilling by the pool with some water if you want to save $.

Read the consistency of 1/2 star reviews

I understand many Waikiki hotels are older, but I expected more from a Hyatt Regency. My experience was disappointing from the moment I checked in. The room I was given was clearly unsanitary — with stains and a general feeling of neglect. For a hotel charging hundreds of dollars per night, this was far below acceptable standards. When they finally offered to move me, it was treated like a favor rather than a correction of their mistake. The new room was the same type — just a bit cleaner, though still not great. No one even came to inspect the first room. I was told the room service manager would meet me in my room to make things right, so I waited — but they never showed up. It was a complete waste of my time. Meanwhile, the front desk supervisor, Lawrence, seemed more focused on clocking out than ensuring my experience improved. It took days to get a response from management and then it was far too late. This simply wasn’t the level of service or cleanliness I expected from a Regency property. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this location to others. Last thing I’ll say is I stayed at Ka’ lai for most of my stay and I regret moving to Hyatt. Really ruined my vacation experience.

Excellent customer service and friendly staff saved our stay!!

Overall, I will say that the staff was amazing. They truly work hard to keep customers happy and they are a wonderful representation of GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Unfortunately, the hotel itself has issues that made our stay 5/10. Mainly the room temperature which averaged 78° and the TV/continuous elevator issues. Elevators were extremely slow. There were times when the wait for an Elevator EXCEEDED 10-15 MINUTES. I was very grateful that a staff member recognized that my kids and I had been waiting so long, that they(the staff member) escorted us into the employee service elevator and allowed us to leave the floor that we were stuck on. Unfortunately this situation (regarding the extremely extended wait times) happened on several occasions throughout the duration of our stay! Between the discomfort of the room temperature, the tv issues for the first two days and the extremely long wait time, it wasn't the best stay but it also wasn't the worst. Just somewhat disappointing considering the location of the hotel (waikiki beach) and the price my family and I payed to stay their. More was expected when it came to the three issues that we faced. Issues that shouldn't be issues within that establishment.

    Amazing Spring Break

Hotel met every need of ours, from the adjoining rooms so that we were connected with our young kids, to the fabulous benefits of the club lounge and access to beach amenities, the Hyatt was the perfect hotel for our spring break trip to Oahu. We couldn't be happier with the hotel, and cant wait to go back to Hawaii!

    Great Hotel and Experience

Staff were great. Easy access to beach and restaurants. The upgraded room offered a beautiful view of the ocean from the 25th floor. The room is showing its age, but still a clean and comfortable room. Elevators are slow during peak times. Overall, highly recommend for families.
