Jan 25, 2026Not Returning for the Cold Pool, Mediocre Food and Broken Jacuzzi.
My wife and I just returned Ja. 23rd. We were there for 5 days. At check-in we were upseeled a swim-up room for an extra 50 per day which was better than the website price so we took it. What a waste. The pool outside the room is the same cold cold water in the large pool. The first day I saw not a single person in the pool. The next day I went in and I was all alone. Perhaps some others ventured in at some point but I never saw. The jacuzzi the first day was perfect but the second day it was luke warm and several people complained (they told me). I made a complaint to Oscar who said he would take care of it but he never did. The next day the water was hot but the water level was very low. The following day it was perfect but the last day it was so incredibly hot not a single person entered the entire day and there was no correction although I know for a fact several complaints were made. At least the pool was warmer the last 2 days. The Gulf is green and there is some minor seaweed problem but the water is a bit chilly and not everyone was brave enough to go in. So why the heck would you come here with all of those issues - most easily correctable. As for the food - the choices were limited and there is no true Mexican restaurant despite the so-called Mexican restaurant. The Italian restaurant was good but you need to order 2 dinners because the portions are really small. Shout out to Ivan was our waiter and also took time to give us a tour when we first arrived. The buffet was just okay - nowhere near as good as Sandals. The pastries are very plain tasteless mostly - maybe okay if you've never been to France, Italy or New York. The room itself was very good and the staff in general was terrific - except when they ignored our complaints. The Cabanas were great the first day but then they did a dumb thing and penned us in like cattle putting up a fence around us. So now the view of the gulf is ruined and you cannot rise from your cabana and walk straight out to the beach or come back straight to your cabana to retrieve your towel - you need to walk around the fence. Why? This place needs a Taco truck and a Shake Shack!

Everything about this resort is great. The only issue, it needs some work as something were falling apart but this didn't affect our vacation. The staff were amazing. The room and washrooms are nice and spacious. The food is very good.

This is the first time I can honestly say this was the worst resort I have ever stayed at. The buffet was always cold whether u went right when it opened or 1 hour later. The only time you got hot food was when you had an omelette for breakfast. So disappointing. They had so many of those little raccoon looking animals all over the resort and they would come and sleep on our balcony every night and would Pooh and pee all over it. So disappointed as we could never use our balcony. We were there for 2 weeks so the first week I killed a mosquito in the shower and it was still on the wall in the shower when we left 2 weeks later also killed a second early into our 2nd week. So how well do they clean our rooms🥴. Then our air conditioning stopped working and it took them 3 days to figure out that the reason it wasn’t working was because the fan was so duty it couldn’t work. And this is a 5 star resort. I don’t think so. Our sheets were never changed even though they said they would be changed every 3 days. Didn’t happen. The entertainment staff were amazing. Fernin. Was so friendly and always took the time to speak to you the pool was never cleaned the whole time we were there, the netted cleaned but the bottom of the pool was disgusting. The around the pool and in restaurants were great but the staff in reception were ignorant. I will never go back to the Hyatt Zilara ever the worst holiday ever. Tell me who ever comes back from an all exclusive down 5+ lbs Please think twice before you decide to book

Beautiful resort and the staff in all areas were very friendly and pleasant. That being said, I was extremely disappointed that the reason we were vacationing was never acknowledged. Many emails were exchanged prior to the trip indicating we were celebrating a promotion and I was assured that the resort would “help” us celebrate. Upon check-in, we were asked if we were celebrating something, which confused me because that had been established several times. Upon reaching our room, there was no celebration banner or anything within the room to indicate the reason for our stay. Later that evening I went to the staff at check-in to inquire and request a “congratulations” banner or something as acknowledgment. I was told they would take care of it and they did not. The next day, I physically went back and spoke to someone else and they told me they would decorate the door or leave something in the room. Once again, nothing happened. By that time I just gave up and was very disappointed. I thought it was a very simple request months ago, then I was forced to ask in person twice. Yet, for some reason I was ignored.
