  Disappointing for the Price, but Wonderful Staff

  I have stayed at quite a few all-inclusive resorts, and unfortunately, Iberostar Selection Bávaro Suites was a disappointment. Overall, I do not feel the experience justified the amount we paid. Rooms & Maintenance Our room was in serious need of updating. The couch and chair looked so worn and dirty that I didn't feel comfortable sitting on them. There was a large dust bunny above the bed, and the air-conditioning was inadequate. Even at its lowest setting, the room remained stuffy and uncomfortable. Several television channels didn't work, and the refrigerator was also disappointing. It needed a thorough cleaning when we arrived, and for the first few days, our drinks weren't getting cold. I eventually discovered that the temperature setting wasn't low enough to properly chill the beverages. The bathroom had additional issues. The ventilation was poor, and we noticed black mold-like spots on the ceiling. Opening the bathroom door also allowed heat and humidity into the bedroom. The shower had no door or curtain, just a partially enclosed glass panel with an open entryway. Water frequently escaped into the sink and toilet area, soaking the bathmat and leaving the floor wet with no secondary drain. Food & Restaurants — 3.5/5 The buffet offered a large selection, but much of the food was bland. Despite the variety, picky eaters may struggle to find appealing options. The chicken wings served at the lunch grill were excellent, although the hamburger buns were ridiculously oversized compared to the burgers. The Japanese restaurant was enjoyable, and the chef was very entertaining. The steakhouse was mediocre, with meat that tasted primarily of charcoal. The macaroni and cheese was especially disappointing—bland with overcooked noodles. Service & Staff The employees were truly one of the resort's strongest assets. Despite occasional language barriers, most worked extremely hard to make guests feel welcome. Special recognition goes to Jorge in the buffet, who was outstanding! He was professional, attentive, and quickly memorized the drink orders for our group of approximately 12 people. Unfortunately, another server approached our table and tried to persuade us to ask management to switch our service from Jorge to her. I found that extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. The bartenders and bar waitresses were wonderful! Although drinks weren't always made correctly, they made an effort to fix them. The waitresses had bubbly personalities, kept the atmosphere fun, and even taught guests how to dance and speak Spanish. Pools & Entertainment The swim-up bar pool was a decent size but could have benefited from more frequent cleaning. The pool near our room was consistently clean and enjoyable, although the water felt like bathwater on our first day due to the heat. The music was actually very good, with a nice variety, including recognizable soul songs performed in Spanish. However, much of the entertainment was presented in Spanish, making some portions difficult for non-Spanish-speaking guests to follow. Check-In & Resort Information Check-in and checkout were both quick and easy. However, the resort orientation was lacking. We were briefly shown where some bars were located on a map but received very little information about the restaurants, amenities, or resort layout. We were essentially left to figure everything out ourselves. The concierge also offered incentives such as massages and party boat excursions in exchange for attending a vacation club presentation lasting approximately 90 minutes or more. Several members of our group participated, but I chose not to spend my vacation time attending a sales presentation. Overall Impression While there were enjoyable moments and some truly exceptional employees, the outdated room, maintenance issues, inconsistent food quality, and lack of attention to detail made this resort disappointing for the price. The staff deserves recognition for their hospitality, but the property itself needs significant improvements. Based on this experience, I would not choose to return.

  Amazing Vacation great memories

  All I can say is Wow! We came in July to celebrate by parent’s 50th Anniversary. We booked 3 bedrooms. There was 8 of us. My husband is an IHG Diamond. The hotel emailed him prior to us getting there and they told us they upgraded our room. Then he reached out to them because we wanted to see how much it would cost to upgrade us to the next level, they gave us a price and we said we’ll think about it. Then they came back to us and offered us for two people free and the rest for a certain amount we were able to get them down to a certain price which I’m so glad we did. I was nervous about reservations since some people did write how hard it is to get we had no problems, our concierge guy, which I forgot his name set up all our reservations for us. We also booked ahead of time three cabanas for the time that we were there. We just didn’t book for two days when we knew we had tours. The guys by the cabana actually helped us out a lot, when our concierge guy couldn’t help us my mother needed more hangers for the room and he was able to get it for us. We did have a problem with one of our rooms getting cleaned many times they did not clean my parents room which was upstairs from us, but once my husband went to the lounge it was taken care of. Also concierge told us about certain bottles that we can get but when we asked, they said they didn’t have it. Another issue was our refrigerator was not stocked daily. They did send me a nice bottle of rum for my birthday. The drinks were good again since we had higher status my sons were able to get better liquor, which they were happy.. we did not hang out at the beach at all. We stayed by the pool entertainment was wonderful.. The pool bartender was a little bit slower. As for the food, French was delicious, the steakhouse was amazing. We loved the Japanese restaurant. The Mexican and the Italian restaurant we waited around a lot for drinks and for food. They were not a happy staff.. Loved the buffets we went to lunch at the one near the Pool loved that they had lobster tails and we went to the buffet for breakfast every day. We had a great gentleman that had our table waiting for us each morning and had my mimosas waiting we didn’t wanna sit in the morning in the area for the higher level because of him at dinner at night when we ate their twice we did sit in the other location. There are also some hostesses that was so friendly and so welcoming sorry I forgot the names since I was not able to write this right away. We did have a photo shoot. Pictures were absolutely beautiful. We also booked five massages. None of my children complained. They got exactly what they wanted. The resort is very clean they were always cleaning and doing work. The resort is beautiful. They do have an area so you can grab water but they give you a glass bottle. I knew about this from the last Iberostar that we went too. So I made sure we brought water bottles with us. This is our second Iberostar. We cannot wait to go to the next one.

  Nice vocation overall

  An enjoyable vacation with a few issues. The good: overall, the food and restaurants were good. We enjoyed the Greek and the steakhouse. The burger restaurant wasn’t so good, though having access to the restaurants in the adjacent hotels added nice variety. The not so good: a few of us were unwell during the stay, which could have been down to getting used to the food and water. I’d say the burrito from the Mexican restaurant seemed like it had been sitting under the heater for a long time, and I suspect it played a part. The rooms were clean, except for some suspicious rice-like grains we found in the bed, even though none of us had eaten rice. The air conditioning was poor. It was cooler than outside, but certainly not cool enough for a settled night’s sleep. The water supply to the toilets could run dry in the morning. I guess it was a refilling tank that couldn’t keep up with morning demand. The water stations for filtered water were a good eco approach. I’d strongly recommend taking insulated flasks for each family member so you don’t have to keep going to the bar. The main pool was nice, the bars and cocktails were good, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our main annoyance was the airport transfer from W2M, which the hotel recommended. The transfer from the airport to the hotel was in a dilapidated bus with no working seat belts and no air conditioning. Hardly the executive transfer we paid for, and a poor start to the holiday when you’re worrying about the safety of the children. The beach was lovely but suffered from seaweed this season. I guess we were just unlucky this trip. Overall would recommend for a family or inclusive

  Beautiful resort, great entertainment; subpar food

  The nature like grounds were beautiful. The entertainment was great; however the food could have been better. Buffet food was either left out too long, was unavailable or there weren’t any food options I could relate to. I love Iberostar resorts but not sure I would return to this one.

  Nice place to stay

  Nice place to go, beautiful beach of white sand, nice pools designed with originality and good food! I like the food designed and cared for by the Chefs.
