Oct 15, 2026MID STAY AT KONTIKI
Everytime we would shower it smelled like sewage. I finally couldn't handle it and went to the front desk to complain, they basically said they couldn't do anything about it. Most of the workers were pretty rude. We traveled around the island and met plenty of kind people in Curaco. Almost seems like the workers are over worked and under paid, thats the vibe i got. The beach on the other hand was BEAUTIFUL. If you're going to stay here bring ear plugs because they have a club scene at night. The room was mid, the food was mid, the drinks were decent, the service very mid, and the bed were awful, beach amazing. When we go back to Curaco we will not stay here.

The stay and the host were wonderful. The Kontiki resort is worth the experience. Their upcoming new rooms in December 2026 are a must.

Future travelers should be cautious about booking a nonrefundable rate at Kontiki, including the 10% discount promoted through its website. In our experience, the savings came with no flexibility when an earthquake-related flight cancellation delayed our arrival by two days. They kept telling us travel insurance would cover us, but of course that wasn’t something we booked or had available to us. Despite notifying the hotel and asking three times—including escalating to management and reservations—we were refused any refund or credit for the missed nights. We wanted to apply those nights toward extending our stay to the full eight nights we originally paid for, but were instead quoted a higher rate for the additional nights. Before accepting the discounted nonrefundable rate, consider whether you are comfortable losing the full cost of missed nights if unexpected travel disruptions occur. Based on how our situation was handled, we would not count on a goodwill exception from this hotel.

We had a lovely stay at the Kontiki. From start to finish the service was amazing, the room was breathtaking and the food and hospitality were great. I highly recommend, will return when visiting Curaçao.

The Curacao Experience
Got the beach front swim up room, amazing access to the beaches. Very tidy and clean. Super friendly staff specially the girl that’s interning from the Netherlands! Me and my fiancé did not want to leave ! We are definitely going back and 100% recommend a stay at the Kontiki if you ever happen to visit Curacao.
