Nice hotel but not accommodating or compassionate when I had a death in my family!!
We came to this hotel to unplug and relax. It’s a beautiful resort not a lot of people which is nice and quiet. From the first minute we arrived the butler they assigned to us said anything we asked is not possible. My grandfather died and we have to leave early. We called American Express to be able to get a refund for the remaining nights we won’t be staying. We presented his death certificate and the hotel refused to refund the rest of our stay. They want to give us a free night with stipulations. not during high season even though we paid high season prices presidents week. This was unacceptable. The American Express agent said she never heard of a hotel not willing to give back the money when a family member dies and the death certificate is presented as proof. While the esthetics of the hotel is beautiful this hotel needs to get some training on accommodating their guests with a little more compassion. The first word out of the staffs mouth should not be no!! Especially when paying the high prices we did!!

Casa de la Playa – A Truly Exceptional Xcaret Experience (Detailed Review)
Stay: February 2–9, 2026 Room: Beachfront Room 1202 We tend to leave detailed reviews because we rely heavily on them when planning our own travel, especially when choosing higher-end resorts. Casa de la Playa ended up being one of the most memorable and well-rounded vacations we’ve had, combining luxury, adventure, exceptional food, and genuinely attentive service. This was our first trip where we decided to simply “go play,” and Casa de la Playa made that easy from beginning to end. Arrival & Transportation The resort is about an hour from the airport, but the VIP transportation experience made it feel much shorter. We were picked up in a Tesla with private chauffeur service, and our driver, Jesus, immediately set a warm and welcoming tone for the trip. One detail that stood out was the strong focus on safety. Drivers complete breathalyzer checks before their shifts and everything feels well monitored. It created an immediate sense of comfort and trust, which carried through the entire stay. Accommodations We did experience a small hiccup at check-in where our room class was not initially correct, but the resort worked quickly with our travel agent to make it right. We were placed in beachfront Room 1202, which turned out to be the perfect location — close to the lobby, main pool, and main restaurant while still feeling private. The room itself was beautiful and thoughtfully designed: Private plunge pool and outdoor seating area Stone bathtub beside the pool Direct access to the beach Spacious layout with king bed Signature jellyfish tank Indoor/outdoor flow with beautiful showers One unique feature we had never seen before was the private room service cupboard, allowing food to be delivered and dishes collected without staff entering the room. A small detail, but one that really elevated the experience. The private pool temperature was cooler than expected initially due to cooler weather during our arrival, but it improved as temperatures warmed. Food & Dining Experiences Dining at Casa de la Playa is an experience rather than just a meal. Most dinners ranged from 5 to 11 courses, each thoughtfully presented and rooted in culture and flavour. Our first evening at XAL introduced us to this concept with an 11-course dinner. It was beautifully executed and set the tone for the rest of the week, although pacing yourself is important because it is a lot of food and wine. Breakfast at Tuch de Luna overlooking the ocean became a daily highlight, and room service was equally enjoyable thanks to the privacy of the service cupboard. The exclusive dining experiences available to Casa de la Playa guests were exceptional: A romantic cenote dinner A Mayan village dinner with a private cultural performance A backstage dining experience offering a behind-the-scenes look before the show Being able to revisit these locations during the day at Xcaret Park added another layer to the experience and made it feel even more meaningful. Parks & Adventures (Xplor & Xcaret) Access to the parks is one of the biggest advantages of staying within the Xcaret properties, and it did not disappoint. At Xplor Park we: Drove amphibian vehicles through rugged terrain Completed the 11 zip lines (incredibly fun) Swam in cenotes Returning to the parks during the day after experiencing them at night gave us a completely different appreciation of the environment and surroundings. It added adventure and energy to what could otherwise have been a purely relaxing vacation. VIP Services & Transportation One of the most impressive aspects of Casa de la Playa was the VIP transportation and service model. Through a private WhatsApp chat with our butler, transportation could be arranged at any time. Private drivers were available for dinners, park visits, or even quick trips to pick up souvenirs. Drivers would wait and return us to the resort, making everything feel effortless and extremely safe. This level of service significantly elevated the overall experience. Butlers & Service Team Service throughout the resort was exceptional, and several team members deserve special recognition. Neftalí helped resolve our initial room issue and ensured everything was corrected quickly. Gabriela was outstanding — attentive, caring, and consistently checking in to make sure everything was perfect. She truly went above and beyond. Francisco assisted on our final days. We also want to recognize members of the pool and bar service team: Miguel, who acted as a guest experience ambassador at the main pool and rooftop bar, stood out for his attentiveness and genuine connection with guests. We truly enjoyed meeting him and talking to him daily. Angelina, who frequently served us, was warm and welcoming. Felipe was attentive and mastered my Bob Marley drink exactly the way I liked it. These personal interactions made daily moments feel relaxed and special. Super Bowl Sunday Experience Our last evening coincided with the Super Bowl, and the resort created a fantastic rooftop viewing experience. A large screen was set up at the rooftop pool bar with the ocean in the background, and multiple courses of themed food were served throughout the evening. It was a fun and memorable way to end the trip. Value for Money Casa de la Playa is a higher-end resort, and we felt the value matched the experience. We chose this property specifically for the level of service, privacy, dining experiences, and VIP access, and it delivered exactly what we were looking for. For travellers seeking a luxury, experience-driven stay rather than a traditional all-inclusive, the value was absolutely there. Noise Level Noise was never an issue during our stay. Casa de la Playa is an adults-only, private section of the Xcaret properties, and the atmosphere remained calm, quiet, and relaxing throughout the week. It felt peaceful without ever feeling isolated. Overall Experience Casa de la Playa delivered one of the best vacation experiences we’ve had. The staff were genuinely attentive, the food outstanding, and the ability to combine luxury, culture, and adventure made it feel very different from a traditional all-inclusive resort. For travellers who enjoy higher-end resorts, VIP service, and curated experiences, this is absolutely a property worth experiencing. Helpful Tips for Future Guests Book exclusive dining experiences early in your stay. Pace yourself with multi-course dinners and wine pairings. Take advantage of the private driver service — it’s a major benefit. Visit parks both during the day and at night if possible. Communicate openly with your butler — the team genuinely wants to make your stay exceptional. Slow down and enjoy the small details; many of the best moments come from them.

La Casa de la Playa is hands down one of the most peaceful, relaxing, and unique resort experiences we’ve ever had.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review La Casa de la Playa is hands down one of the most peaceful, relaxing, and unique resort experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. The property is quiet, private, and incredibly serene — never crowded or chaotic like many larger resorts. It truly feels like a hidden sanctuary. The staff was exceptional. Every single person was attentive, kind, and genuinely focused on making our stay perfect. Anything we needed was handled immediately and with care. That level of service is rare. What makes this place special is the balance. You can stay tucked away in total peace, or if you want energy and activity, you have access to the connected resorts with more restaurants, entertainment, and even buffet options. Then you come back “home” to the calm luxury of La Casa de la Playa. The dining experiences alone were unforgettable. These weren’t just meals — they were events. One evening we had a traditional Mayan dinner with live Mayan music, performers in authentic dress, and only three tables total — just three couples. It felt completely private and incredibly special. Another night we dined in what felt like a hollowed-out cave, surrounded by rock walls and a small pool of water with lights reflecting across it, with live jazz music playing. Again, only a few tables. It felt like something out of a movie. We also attended the backstage cultural performance on the property, showcasing music and traditions from all the regions of Mexico. Even in Spanish, it was deeply moving and beautifully done. The park itself is massive — you could easily spend two or three full days exploring all the activities and still not see everything. I’ve traveled to Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, and Hawaii, and I don’t say this lightly — this is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever stayed. More than just a vacation, it gave me something I didn’t realize I needed: true peace and quiet. Time to reconnect with my wife and reconnect with God. That made the trip priceless. Five stars honestly isn’t enough. Absolutely incredible experience, and we can’t wait to return.

Poolside tequila education!
Miguel gave my husband and I an informal, impromptu education on tequila at the main pool today! He explained the differences between blanco, reposado and añejo, the distillery process, the history and which one is used in cocktails vs sipping tequilas. We also did a little tasting! Gracias Miguel for the fun experience! La Casa de La Playa is always the BEST resort with the friendliest staff!

Downgraded Room- NO RUFUND!!
We booked a first-floor Suite Beach front. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed almost no ocean view due to overgrowth. It also smelled like cigarettes because the neighbor was smoking on his patio. We asked if we could move to an Oceanfront suite, which had no beach access, but the view was amazing. The manager said our room move was a downgrade and that, because we booked through our travel agent rather than directly with the hotel, we had to sign an agreement to forfeit the $500 nightly difference if we wanted to "downgrade". I have never downgraded a room in my life, and I can tell you that the clear suite ocean front view was not a downgrade. We did move rooms, which was the right decision. The next day, I saw that they had rented out our "superior" room, which is double-dipping. We spoke to the manager again, and she would not budge on a refund because she said it was less than 24 hours ' notice, and we didn't book it directly. This did not sit well with us. BUYER BEWARE, Suite Beach Front rooms have NO ocean view. You can access the beach through the hotel without a beachfront room. They kept our refund, but we will never return to La Casa De La Playa.
